Here's what I did:
I took my items from my desktop and put them in a special folder to which I dragged to the bottom. The start bar I put at the top. So I got a bar of icons on the bottom and the usual start bar is across the top now.
The problem:
When I try to play in an online game, everything is fine til the game is loading: the colours go inverted. Then black screen and I see the outline of the new menu bar.
If I close the bar, the game works fine.
The settings for the bar aren't remember when I want to re-open it.
Is there a work around?

What happens if you minimize and restore the game?
Does pressing Shift+Break help?

it gets stuck after finish loading the tool bar appears inverted; black screen; nothing happening. my only recourse of action is alt+f4 brings back to the initial game menu. the quit button is over lapping the ??? menu; can't minimize using the bottom left corner til I go into a new menu, exit back, the quit button is aligned normally; no overlap.
to re-iterate can't minimize til I alt+f4; pushing alt+space does nothing.

You can press Shift+Escape to minimize the game in the front-end or during the game.
Does pressing Shift+Break help when you get the black screen?

The problem seems to be resolved in the interim. Thanks.
PS. Is break what you call the <space> bar? The long key, below x, c, v, b, n, m
OR are we talking about the pause/break key beside PrtSc.
:P
the pause/break key beside PrtScThis is Break. Space isn't Break.

Thank you Lex.
I wasn't sure if people from Europe had their own lingo. :P

The problem is still happening. I tried shift+pause/break when it was frozen and it did nothing. I alt+f4'd out.

If the problem frustrates you to the point that you don't want to troubleshoot it, I suggest that you simply disable the toolbar while playing W:A. Otherwise:
Please install WormKit (http://worms.thecybershadow.net/wormkit/) and the following WormKit module: 32227
Run the game via WormKit, reproduce the freeze and press Ctrl+Break. W:A should close, and a file named FREEZE.DMP should be created in your W:A folder. Find and post this file here.
