Hello. I would like to be able to run 2 instances of w:a simultaneously. The main target of this is being able to rope (or whatever in game) while Iīm waiting some player join my host. For example, when I host a Elite about 4 a.m, I have to wait a lot of time..., and it would be great to be able to have fun roping while I wait for someone join...

So is there any way of running two w:a at same time?

I know I could do it using VMware?, but is there another way that I donīt know?

Thanks. Regards.

The only way I know is using another Windows User Account, which is password protected.

2000/WinXP: Read this (http://lifehacker.com/#!211477/how-to-run-a-program-as-a-different-user-in-windows-xp)

Vista/Win7: Read this (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/419-run-different-user.html)

Thanks for the fast answer.

I have tried it but it doestnīt work... (After follow all indicated steps) When I run second instance (using another user, writing password, etc...), this is "merged" with the first instance. This is, it happens exactly same than when I try to run the two instances of w:a in the normal way. No difference.

Did it work for you ?? (concretely with w:a)

At first, please tell me, which OS You're using.

I've never tried it with W:A, while I've never needed it. I was using it on Win XP with apps locked like W:A, but now I'm on Win7 with single User Account.

If You're on Win7 too and You really need it, I can create another account and try it for You, but can You tell me, why You want to run W:A twice?

Yes, I am on Windows 7 64 bits and I did exactly what that web says (not much mystery...), but It didnīt work.

The reason I want to do that was explained in my first post: Oso said: "The main target of this is being able to rope (or whatever in game) while Iīm waiting some player join my host. For example, when I host a Elite about 4 a.m, I have to wait a lot of time..., and it would be great to be able to have fun roping offline (or practicing whatever in wa offline) while I wait for someone join... " At that part of the day, It sometimes takes a lot of time until a player that knows Elite scheme join my host...

Itīs just to do less boring the waiting... I know maybe people think itīs not a very important issue and I understand that maybe you are not going to lose your time on checking that. However, I would appreciate if you do it. :)

But the truth is that I think I did everything correctly, so probably it wonīt work in your pc too... (I think certain programs donīt allow 2 instances in any way...) I hope I'm wrong...

Thank you very much.

Right, the restriction is there for a reason.

Until the time comes when the game itself is able to tell ranked games from funners, it's probably best if it stays this way, even if most players wouldn't use it to cheat or play several online games at the same time.

Sorry, I didn't read it all.

BTW

Your host is visible on WormNET for about a minute or 2 max so even, if it would work, You'd have not much time to do anything at the same time.

It times out after 5 minutes, to be more precise.

Well, thanks for correcting, while I've never counted it, but it's still very small amount of time to do anything ;]

Oh, I guessed there was something so, but I thought that time was longer... Why is so short?

Thanks.

Probably to not overload WormNET with too many hosts active at the same time and make life easier for everyone.

Well... Anyways, when, after a while, someone see that noone join his host, he immediately rehost, and so that is not very different of those hosts were constant. Though I guess those "off and on" maybe let Wormnet breathes a little...

In any case, perhaps 10 minutes would be a better quantity. Itīs a little annoying having to leave the host, after already having been setting scheme and map (especially the second thing), and to have to repeat the whole process.

Thank you all

It's likely to keep the game list small and to quickly remove games that didn't get hosted correctly. The game list being small is important as there isn't much screen real estate dedicated to listing games.

Well, that screen could have a scroll...

It does scroll but it would be annoying as only like 7 games can be seen at once, imagine having 12 or more games appear there?

I imagine it and I would be happy. There would be many games to choose from. Itīs not so hard to do scroll.... and I donīt think 12 or more games at the same time were so annoyed for our eyes...

New games get added to the bottom of the list right? so it would be harder keeping track of newly hosted games.

Itīs not right. New games get added to the top of the list.
