A long time ago, I had both Armageddon and World Party. They were virtually identical, so I traded Armageddon for another game. Little did I know that this was a bad move

So I found this forums, and found that there's patches for Armageddon, and regretted that action. World Party won't work on my Windows 7 64 bit (even with the fixes posted here), so I decided to finally order Armageddon from a link in the patches FAQ.

My concern is, I live in USA, and the place I'm ordering from is in UK. I'm wondering how long it takes to arrive? Anyone here from USA who've ordered from UK? This is my first purchase from a foreign country, so it's a new experience :)

I'm eagerly looking forward to playing with you all!

Good choice, but you could have ordered it from the US as well and cut the postage expenses and the waiting time down a little. This seems a really good deal to me, in case you can still change your mind:

I'm Canadian. When WWP was released (in the UK before the US/Canada), I ordered it online from Team17's shop. It took a few days to get here. It was not a bad experience. International online purchases are extremely common these days. Your parcel should arrive undamaged and without issue.

True, I forgot about Amazon, but I've already ordered. It's only like $2 difference in shipping, no biggie. But a bit more waiting :-/ Ah well, patience is a virtue :D

I am soon buying from there too and I have the same doubts (I live in Portugal though).

These days the US customs authorities are extra nitpicky, out of fear of explosive printer cartridges from Yemen. :p

I ordered it from the UK as well and I live in Hungary. I experienced no problem at all, it took 3 days to arrive I think and it was packed like crazy to prevent any sort of damage. :)

How much did you pay (all things considered)?

Well, that's within the EU.
Outside and especially to USA is another thing.

I ordered it from Team17's secure webshop - I don't know if that still exists - and there was this Corporate Pack, which consisted of W2, WWP and WA for 10£ and I don't remember how much the shipping fee was, but wasn't more than 5£.

It was ridiculously cheap, expecially considering that they brought gaming history's three best games to my door from the UK. :D

I want to buy wa. However, "https://secure.team17.com/shop.html?area=retro" has a connection issue. It seems that is death link. Any suggestions for me?

Unfortunately the T17 shop has now closed. I'm not sure where else sells the game.

You can buy it from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Worms-2-Armageddon-Pc/dp/B000E23XNA) or Mastertronic (http://www.mastertronic.com/productSoldOut.asp?pid=267&productLabelID=1).

Sure. However, it is not suitable for me because i want a digital key, easy and simple.
+Why i want a legal game(digital)?
-First reason: I properly played cracked wa-updated 29- when my internet was an ADSL. I have changed my internet to cable as a result i can't connect lobby via using wormnet. Therefore, i searched in forum how to fix that problem and i reached to use web snooper or pro snooper. It seems problem was solved but new problem welcome to me. That is a colour problem. When i used web snooper or pro snooper for attending lobby and when the game begins, colours are mixed so i again searched in forum and if snooper is used, i need a latest update for not living any problem.
-Second reason: To support developers for their attempt to improve the game and producing patches for game and etc.

Wow, I sure have gotten rusty! I kept losing, even against a player who said that he was "a crappy player". Too used to Worms Reloaded. Gotta practice! This game is awesome, but I can see why Team17 chose to do the things they did with Reloaded, to make it more friendly to casual users.

Lex

Yeah, because casual players don't like satisfying explosions with awesome physics. ;o "Casual gamer" is a fictional demographic invented by game companies. There's a very good, extremely long article I read explaining this, but I can't find it right now. :(

What's wrong with the explosions in WR? Additionally, the new physics are more attractive to me than the old, unrealistic ones.

WR is more casual concerning its customisation. It's actually pretty limited compared to Armageddon, however it's fine to me - the simpliest mode, the common deathmatch, is what I play Worms for, after all. WA is completely characterized by the Ninja Rope anyway, isn't it?

Or? Which of these three items, do you think, is the one used most in WA?

a) Bazooka
b) MB Bomb
c) >>Ninja Rope!!<<

Go away, you sorry excuse for a troll, you.

We're not just magically going to forget you're the number two WR fan who has been explained all this into great detail several times before and ignored it completely. Try harder. Or better still, try somewhere else.

Well, when I played Armageddon a long long time ago, I remember that there were several popular themes, and shopper was one of them. But there were other themes, namely BnG that were popular as well. My impression on coming back to this game were that about 90% of the games are shoppers or WxW, both involving roping. Roping have become a big thing for Armageddon, and the major complaint against Reloaded was the roping, from my observations.

To casual players, this can be a turn-off, since roping can be mastered to an extent that it gives you a very significant advantage against people who aren't good. I know, because I keep getting owned in shopper games, even though my roping skills weren't that bad compared to a total noob.

I'm not saying that roping is a bad thing, but Worms Reloaded is more friendly to people of lesser skills since roping can't be used to bounce anywhere from anywhere, reducing the advantages of mobility for an experienced user. But it also reduces the sense of achievement knowing that you beat the other players with skill.

In Armageddon, roping is necessary to get ahead. In Reloaded, it's not. Explosions in armageddon can be hilarious, but also gives advantage to those who knows how to hit the worms in a way to blast them off the map. In Reloaded, worms move less, giving the newbies more opportunities to fight back.

This is why I said Reloaded are friendly to casual players, they lose less quickly against more experienced players. So both games have its pros and cons. I play reloaded against friends who aren't hardcore wormers, and have fun. When I want intense gameplay, I play armageddon. Both games are good, in my opinion.

Oh my gawd. What's up with these dudes here again?

WR is more casual concerning its customisation. (and not for physics or explosions... :S)

That's my main point, nothing bad about it, go away.

these dudes here again?"These dudes" (Lex and KRD) are people who have played the Worms series for over a decade, and actively participated in and helped shape the W:A community. Not even I can argue with them on such topics, and often I ask their counsel on community and gameplay questions. Who the heck are you?go away.So you're saying two of the most experienced and knowledgeable members of the W:A community don't belong in the W:A forum? Perhaps you should heed your own advice instead. Otherwise, I'll consider exercising my moderator powers granted unto me by the powers that be, and keep the forum clean of posts that do not add any value to the forum or conversation at hand.

That's alright, but do they really have to express their animosity towards Reloaded even on this part of the forum? I only replied to it, and again they call me a troll and drive the thread off-topic for no reason.

Physics and explosions. That's not why Reloaded is classified as casual. It's casual because of less customisation than in W:A, that's all I said.

The reasoning for the accusations against you are clearly stated, and I happen to agree. Your first post in this thread consists of ¼ pointless drivel, ¼ arguments repeatedly discussed innumerable times elsewhere, and ½ flamebait.

You're free to continue discussing the merits and flaws of Reloaded on the appropriate forum (even though it seems like all that can be said has already been said, multiple times over). As for this thread - I believe it reached its logical conclusion eight posts ago.
