Hey guys,

My brother really loves worms Armageddon, but he can't install it due to his computer set up. He has the most recent MacBook Air and he does NOT use BOOTCAMP for Windows. Instead, he installed Windows 7 Ultimate as a virtual machine and uses Parallels 6, which he got from his university, to run it.

The game installs fine. we try to play it by mounting the image of the CD and try to play the game, but Parallels goes black and shuts the virtual machine down. I've read the Worms knowledge base article and it says the game runs well using Windows on a Mac and running Parallels 4 while 'disabling 3D acceleration." However, I could not find this option available on Parallels 6 in any of the menus.

I tried to downgrade his version of parallels to 4.0, but then the virtual machine wouldn't boot. I think it's because the .pvm (parallels virtual machine) was made by Parallels 6. Is there ANY way I can get this game running on his computer before he goes back to college without partitioning the hard drive and using Bootcamp? It would be an excellent way to keep in touch with him, you know, with WORMNET and all...

I've looked up Wine support for Mac OS X for Worms Armageddon and it seems to be pretty bad, even though it's amazing for Linux as of now...

The other two options Worms2d.info suggested was to use Virtualbox or VMWare Fusion. I've tried virtualbox, but it wouldn't read the .pvm (parallels virtual machine) file created by parallels, and he prefers parallels. What should I do to get the game working on his machine?

If it is impossible to use Parallels, I am willing to consider other methods. He just doesn't want to use Boot camp like I do to boot up windows 7, if possible.

Thank you so much for your help.

I've looked up Wine support for Mac OS X for Worms Armageddon and it seems to be pretty bad, even though it's amazing for Linux as of now...Note that the improvements to Wine compatibility are fairly recent (as of W:A 3.6.30.0 and Wine 1.3.7), so the information you found may be considerably outdated.
