Lag every 5 seconds [Archive]

I get some lag spikes ever 5-6 seconds, for around 0.5 second, either online or offline. I had the problem under 3.6.29, and I just updated to 3.6.31.

Here are my computer specs (I can run almost all games @ max, so it's not the problem) :
Win 7 64bit;
Nvidia GTA 460, lastest drivers;
SSD HDD (super fast);
4gb of ram overlcocked @ 1600mhz;
i5 760 overclocked @ 3.2ghz.

I tried playing around with different settings :
- Lower resolution changes nothing;
- Timer workaround changes nothing;
- VRAM advanced settings turned off changes nothing.

I see other people with this problem, I have no idea what it could be.

EDIT : I also tried closing a few processes, such as sidebar.exe, but it changes nothing.

Before we try anything else, can you make sure that this isn't caused by any program/process running in the background? Such problems are often caused by background programs.

Has this problem always existed on that computer?

I'll make some tests tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

I did try to kill a few processes with no luck (sidebar, audiodg, etc).

I also tried without mirc, utorrent or peerblock open, still the same.

What happens if you set your CPU's clock speed to normal? I'm just curious and this probably isn't related, but if I was in your situation, I'd be trying literally every weird thing I could think of to fix it. Intermittent lag sucks hardcore.

I noticed you use mIRC. If you want to talk to us in realtime, you can go to #worms on the GameSurge IRC network. Just say someone's name to beep them. Communication is much faster on IRC.

You may also want to try a previous video driver. Your video card is a relatively recent model compared to most wormers' cards.

I had the lag with previous drivers, and current ones.

I could try to downclock my cpu, but I doubt it'll change anything.
