What do I have to do, that Worms Armageddon would work on my Windows XP properly? Now i try to play and ok, i press start game, but the download thing never comes and only way to get out is ctrl+alt+delete...

Help! I'd so much like to play worms again!

"download thing"?

Have you updated your game?

by the download thing I mean that armageddon picture which shows how the download of the match progresses. :D

well, i updated to that newest patch 3.6.31.0 and it didn't help. problem is that when i press the shortcut it goes immediately to black screen and then after a few moments, back to desktop and it gives a white box to top left corner of screen which seemingly is the program, because program runs and box closes after i close the WA.exe process.

damn, why can't it just run :( every time there's gotta be problems

and sorry for may bad english i hope you can understand

Try importing the ResetRegistryOptions.reg tweak. You can find this file under the game's installation directory, in the Tweaks subdirectory.

Yea that didn't do any difference. Still got the same problem.

I find funny that my brother, with his Windows XP computer, played this and worked like a charm, but my XP just seems to be testing limits of my patience and not letting me play..

This is really getting annoying :D
My friend said there's patch for compability for XP?

I have been running this in Compability settings set for Win 95 compability.
With this update, should it still be Win 95 compability or some else? Or disable compability?

This 3.6.31 update actually made it much worse, with original version i at least could create teams and all that stuff, except not to play any matches. (crashing every time i play start match). With this, i can't get even to game menu.

I understand, sorry that you're having trouble. You're the first person to report these kind of problems.

Try closing all other programs before running the game.

That didn't work, and i thought about total re-install, so i uninstalled the game.

And of course, now when i try to install the game, it won't let me.
'' PREPARING TO INSTALL WORMS ARMAGEDDON '' screen comes as it should, but after that, nothing happens. nothing. At third time i waited 5 minutes and nothing. So now i can't even install the game!

This is getting too ridiculous, maybe i should just give up, and buy World Party =D

To be honest, if you're having so much trouble getting Worms Armageddon (last updated a few months ago) to run, I doubt you'll have more luck with WWP (last updated in 2001) :)

Is your disk in good condition? I can't think of many other reasons why the installer would stop working after you had already installed the game from the same CD. In either case, see here (http://worms2d.info/Troubleshooting_FAQ#Installing_WA) for some tips regarding install trouble.

Instead of running "Setup.exe" on the WA CD, navigate into the "Install" directory and run "Install.exe". That should run properly on a 64-bit system. If that's not the problem, then ignore this and follow the link CyberShadow posted above.

I'm happy to announce that i succesfully installed the game, and also could play it! :)

I asked my friend, who knows a lot of these older games, and he told me to install 3.0.5.0 Beta 2 Update, which should work if having XP, and that worked!

That installation problem got solved by rebooting computer.

After all these problems and stuff, this feels even greater to play

Thank you all for your help!

It's great that there's still people who are keeping this legendary game alive! :)

That's a very old version... you won't be able to play online using it... you may want to at least have a look at the Beta archive (http://worms2d.info/Beta_updates_(Worms_Armageddon)) and find the latest version that still works for you. I'd also like to find the problem and see if I can fix it for future updates.

Well i'll take a look at those newer updates.
Online playing indeed would be fun.
Let's hope i find a working one..

Edit: 3.6.29.0 update is the latest update to work for me. 3.6.30 had the exact same problem than 3.6.31.
Thnak you again!

If you can find a few hours to spare, please contact me in #worms (http://worms2d.info/Worms_on_GameSurge) some time next week, so I can find the problem and try to fix it for future updates.

That is okay for me.

Online playing works now, but every time after match ends it says connection to armageddon network has been lost.

Is there something I can do?

Also, isn't there anymore those beginner, intermediate, advanced channels, i remember time when there was something like those.

and many other things that i don't get. (what means shopper for example) it's so long i've played armageddon last time ..:-/

You're the first person to report these kind of problems.

Isn't it weird? I'm sure there are still many WinXP users playing WA without any problems. Why? Cause they know how to keep their OS clean and updated.

@Bazooka please download the latest drivers for GFX, MotherBoard and Sound Card, then reinstall Your WindowsXP. Then Update Your Windows first (SP3) and install those fresh Drivers. At the end update Your DirectX (click here to download) (http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/7/1/1718CCC4-6315-4D8E-9543-8E28A4E18C4C/dxwebsetup.exe) and I'm sure everything will work fine for You.

Above are things, You should naturally know and do regularily. Unfortunately I think Your system is full of garbage, like most of the users.

You didn't even think about a Re-Boot, before the next install attempt and before posting here -.-
