I guess it's...pretty good, for having been created on an iPhone.

Looks like it's made from a piece of used chewing gum, scraped from beneath a bus seat. ;)

What app is that and does the iPhone really have such 3D rendering capabilities?

The app is called sculptmaster lite, there are better 3d modellers available eg.Finger 3d but they are quite pricey.
