View Full Version : PSN Version support?

The PSN version of W2:A is now available, but since I couldn't find a forum for it, I'm posting here. Please move this post to the appropriate forum once one is created.

Anyway, I found some bugs in the first two hours of gameplay. Really obvious bugs.

First of all, the "number of rounds" setting when creating a custom ruleset doesn't seem to have an effect in online play; the game always says the match is one round only and I see no way of changing that. It's really annoying.

Voice chat also seems to cut off instantly after a round/game ends (can't tell the difference because I can only play single round games online!), unlike in the first game. Please restore the previous behaviour, it was useful to be able to chat a bit after a game ends.

The other bug/misbehaviour is that when generating a level for a round, the game after some time just decides to start the round on its own. This is stupid, and needs to be fixed. If there's a time limit, at least make it longer *and* visible.

Also, why are custom rulesets limited to friends only? It seems like a completely pointless restriction. I would like to play with custom rules with friends and then having some random person join in to get four players.

I also noticed that sometimes the "leftovers" from damaged terrain (the layer above the background) would occasionally just completely disappear. It fortunately doesn't affect the game but is weird anyway.

The game is a lot of fun and easily worth what I paid for it, but there are some completely mind-boggling bugs that really, *really* need to get fixed.

At last! Worms 2: Armageddon for Playstation network too!

Worst is this "number of rounds". (always one round no matter how many you choose)

Just behind it, the ruleset limitation, no custom rulesets? You had them on Worms 1, it's real pain to find players just after one round.

Just as chousuke, I too love the game. Please patch it up.

I've been waiting for Worms 2 on PSN but I'm a bit worried. Bought Worms for XBLA when it first came out and found numerous exploits/cheats being used which Team 17 never addressed.

Then I hop on to take a look at the Worms 2 thread and again, see lots of people posting bugs which Team 17 doesn't seem to be responding to.

Now Worms 2 finally rolls out and you guys are finding bugs, but it's become apparent Team 17 doesn't fully support their products after launch, should I still buy?? I love this game with friends but not if it's semi-broken. :(

The game isn't broken. From what i've read on here anyway there's a couple of issues, but nothing game breaking.

i'll try answer a few of the points from this thread here.

number of rounds limit - i've seen this mentioned most frequently. this was as designed, so even custom games were set to 1 round online. custom games with more than that limit can still play locally with more than 1 round. Same behaviour as in xbox, though they are returned to a lobby post round. I guess if its seen as an annoyance by loads of people it can be looked into..

voice chat - if the game is over, it's not really an issue?

Landscape generator timer - this was put in so people were not stuck waiting for their host for long periods of time! i think its pretty useful for slowcoach hosts to be more proactive. a minute is plenty of time to pick a landscape you want to play on, the timer is in the top right of the screen during the landscape generator selection.

custom schemes are set to friends only, in my opinion because it stops players getting annoyed at joining a game that does not have very good scheme setup. It would be pretty rubbish joining a random match that has everything set to just girders! So it's there for friends only... Maybe someone else has a different opinion?

dissappearing damage terrain - yes, this does shappen occasionally. really minor graphical issue but one as yet unavoidable. it's to do with online games syncing up again at the end of a turn.

I'm really pleased with the game myself i think it's turned out fantastic. I'm glad you guys seem to overall be enjoying it too! It's called Worms 2: Armageddon, like the xbox game but shouldn't necesarily be catagorized as a direct port. The game has features that are not in the xbox version (different landscape/more options in the landscape generator to name a couple).

do say if there are more problems than what i've listed here.

I'm sorry but if this is 'by design', then Team 17 have taken leave of their senses. Seriously, what f***ing planet are they on?! If I set up a custom scheme to have a 'best of 3' tournament with my mate, then I want EXACTLY that, and IT SHOULD NOT MATTER whether that is a local game or a PSN Friends game. This is how the first PSN Worms game worked, why the hell have Team 17 ruined it for the second?

I'm not kidding, this has now completely taken all the fun out of playing now, and in fact I feel incredibly cheated. I would like my £11.99 returned to me please. TODAY.

Im personally really disappointed with this game compared to previous iterations. You need to do something about rage quitters because nearly every game that i am winning on psn someone always quits before the end of the round. Also people on the forums have been saying that the DLC pack for XBL is intigrated into the PSN game, well i have not seen any of the weapons from the XBL DLC pack on the PSN version. Could you please clarify?

Any idea how long it will take to get this patch out? ..this really is the only annoyance, other than that, it's pretty much the best game ever.

Voice chat ending before the ending stats show up IS and issue if you're trying to arrange another game due to the number of rounds feature being broken. If we were returned to the same lobby after the game, with voice chat still functioning, this wouldn't be as much as an issue. As it stands, we have to guess when someone is about to win and quickly choose a host before the voice chat cuts out.

However, when you're trying to play a series of games, the disappearing voice chat, no returning to lobby and the broken rounds feature. (I play worms online, if the number of rounds feature is disabled in online play, why wasn't there a warning about it in the game?) Do spoil what would be a very enjoyable game.

My friends and I were debating getting the battle pack, but from reading up on it, even that doesn't work properly.
