... according to my virus scanner. I just purchased WWP, and I'm on Vista. As part of the install it wants to download the update WA_P3050_Beta2.exe. but my virus protection is blocking it saying it's a known virus/trojan.

I have to update WWP to get it to run on Vista. Anyone know anything? Thanks

[...]

WA_P3050_Beta2.exe.
That stands for Worms Armageddon Patch 3.0.5.0 (aka: version 3.5) Beta 2. Why on earth would you need to download that?

Service Pack 1 is the only patch available for Worms World Party:

Note that that will only work with the CD versions. If you bought your game from Trymedia, then it can't be patched at all ut you can still get a refund.
(I'm just asking out of a hunch. All I can find online with that exact patch name is the Trygames patch, as the regular patches normally start with "WA_Update-")

Where did you buy that game, and what antivirus software are you running?

I bought the game from Gamestop, but the download link via Gamestop says Trymedia. So, I guess it's from Trymedia. My virus software is Vipre. And it seems like it's blocking two files in the install. One is GLH0018.tmp and the other is WA_P3050_beta2.exe.

Once the install is done the EXE file that you run to the play the game (wwp.exe) is missing so you can't start the game. I dont know why it tries to run the WA... beta2 file and I dont know why it blocks the other one.

Vipre says that each of those files are "known bad" and blocks them without the option of letting them through. I could shut down Vipre for the install. it just makes me nervous.

I just now got a reply from Trymedia about this and they more or less say to shutdown Vipre and dont worry about it.

Does WWP game pop up ads? Maybe Vipre doesn't like it because of something like that?

You're apparently trying to apply a patch for the downloadable version (Trymedia) of Worms Armageddon on a retail copy of WWP.

That won't work.
Get the correct service pack for WWP from the link Plasma posted before:

I have the download version from Trymedia and I'm not trying to apply anything. Vipre antivirus is blocking files during the installation. And Vipre is deleting the main exe (WWP.exe) saying it's a known bad file. And I can't put it in the allow list, cause it's "known bad".

So, I turned off Vipre and ran the install. it worked fine. I played WWP for a whole day until I re-started Virpe, and it did a routine scan, and found wwp.exe and DELETED IT AGAIN.

You can have Vipre antivirus software. Or you can have WWP. Not both. Odd.

This patch, WA_P3050_beta2.exe, is for Worms Armageddon. That is, the Trymedia version of it.
Not for Worms World Party!
As far as I know, you already get the latest, patched version of WWP from Trymedia.

Thanks Bonz.
I think I'm ok now. i dont know why it tries to download and install WA_p3050_beta2.exe in the install of WWP. you're right of coarse: that's for Worms Armageddon!
Now, everything works fine. Except for the fact that my antivirus software Vipre will delete the main file wwp.exe everytime it does a scan of my harddrive. But that's between me and Vipre
Thanks again,

Have you heard of VirusTotal (http://www.virustotal.com/)? It's especially useful if you're not sure whether your antivirus is giving you a false positive or not.

If it is a false positive, I suggest switching your antivirus software. Avast Free and Malwarebytes is a good combo.

CakeDoer,
Virus Total looks interesting, thanks. I'll look into your other suggestions if Vipre keeps giving me trouble with games. I like Vipre because it's so light on memory and running processes.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
