hi there

recently i bought "worms 3d" off ebay thinking it was the game i played years ago. it wasnt.

now that i saw this one, i realize the one i'm thinking of did not have 3d boards, but rather a side scrolling type landscape. but i cant for the life of me figure out which game it is...its driving me nuts. i distincly remember there being fun and quirky boards.....a particular one being of a playground/sandbox setting with giant sand pails and shovels.

anyone know which version this one might be?

thanks in advance for any output anyone might have.

That's a tough one. Worms 2/W:A/WWP do have a "-Beach" texture, which is actually a legacy texture (upscaled version of a texture from a previous Worms game), but it has neither giant sand pails nor shovels:

hmmm yeah that's not it.

i also forgot to add that it would have either been on the playstation (probably ps1, MAYBE ps2, but most likely ps1...) or dreamcast.

The original Worms had a Beach landscape.

Are you sure it was Worms? Lemmings has beach levels with buckets and spades.

yes positive. it was a war game where you had to blow up the opositions team, taking turns, using various weapons. and the whole time the water would get higher and higher. also, each shot you took at the environment took chunks out of said environment.

That sounds like either Worms: The Directors Cut, Worms 2, Worms Armageddon, Worms World Party, OnlineWorms or Worms World Party Aqua.

Worms 2 is PC only. OnlineWorms and Worms World Part Aqua are also PC only, but were only released in Asian territories.

Worms: The Directors Cut was released for the Amiga.

Worms Armageddon and Worms World Party were both released on the PSone, PC and Dreamcast.

None of those games were release for the PS2.

Logically if it is a 2D Worms game with a Beach terrain and a rising water level it can only really be one of those games.

This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RINJA30NQj0) landscape would fit to your description, though I can't think of any Worms game that would fit. You kinda make it sound like it was beach-based only :p

By the way, what is WWP Aqua? All I ever found were several screenshots like this (http://www.gameclassification.com/files/games/worms-world-party-aqua.jpg) one, no real informations

thats it! thats the board! now is that worms world party????

That is indeed WWP. However most people in the community play Worms Armageddon, which is nearly identical to WWP save for a couple of features (multiplayer missions and the WormPot being the big'ns). Sold Out Software have the PC version bundled with Worms 2 for less than a fiver (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Worms-Double-pack-Armageddon-PC/dp/B000E23XNA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1276923400&sr=8-2), which isn't bad.

Isn't WA has the same intrinsic map called "Beach"?

ok so that picture looks WAY familiar. that is the board i was thinking of for sure. but now i'm confused.....WA or WWP????

i was trying to remember some of the other boards that stuck with me and something with crayons or markers also came to mind. i see there's an "art class" board so i'm thinking that was it. but does WWP also have an "art class" type board?

or, ok, how bout this for a question...what are the differences between WA and WWP? maybe that will help me remember which it was....

It's likely in both W:A and WWP. You should get W:A if you want a game that is still getting updates released for it.

Well... WWP is almost the same as WA, but it has Wormpot (easy way to play random modes) and IMO better missions. But WA with patch has much more great features like recorded games, weapon table everytime etc... But graphics and default maps are still same.

Btw. don't these images look familiar to you?

It's also in WWP.

W:A's advantage is that it is still being updated so your almost gaurenteed better stability under Windows Vista and 7 then WWP in the long run as well as signifiantly more features with more being added still. Wormpot is a limited amount of wacky configurationns you can use so its not THAT important.

And WWP has a great misison editor, if you ever plan to make some. But it just can't beat that W:A is still getting updated (and those features maybe even added in 4.0).

Mission editor is planned for WA.

I think the easiest way to remember which game it was would be taking a look at the title screens: Worms Armageddon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFY7Z5Z6SME) and Worms World Party (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkDolOm2UlY).
But if you are going to buy one, everyone here would recommend you buying WA, I think :p
