View Full Version : Falling water level?
Hi everyone!
Sort of new here as you can all see.
I was just wondering if it is at all possible to implement the water
level to 'fall' during sudden death? Maybe in a future update?
I thought about this when I saw the feature to change the water level
in the in-game map editor; and figured that if it was at all possible, it would
make an interesting scheme. :D
Thanks!
Yeah but it won't be revealing any level that was covered by water as the water destroys terrain by going OM NOM NOM. They'd have to change water to obscure terrain rather then destroy it and then somehow have worms that drown, not collide with the terrain that exists within the water...

Listen to franpa, he knows everything about how the game really works.
Thanks for the replies.
That means that feature doesn't have a lot of use then. Oh well...
Dang om-nom-noming water <:[

O-o
Eherm.
In that case then, is it a possibility or still not? :D

It would be possible to implement, but that doesn't mean that we're going to. Feel free to add the idea to Worms Unlimited (http://worms2d.info/Worms_Unlimited) if you like, it's possible that someone will add it to W:A as an extension (e.g. using ProjectX or whenever W:A gets scripting).

Except for the Nom-Nom-Nom part. In fact, the sound effect they used for crashing waves was actually a really sped-up recording of Martyn eating a Yorkshire pie!
Interesting thing the water destroys the terrain when it rises. I recognized a bug by playing OW2 DS refering to this: It's got the same code, except the fact there IS land under water, enabling the water to fall (e.g. Gulf War).
The bug I mentioned is you are able to blow torch your way UNDER WATER(!), letting your worm drown when you stop under water. In WA, You simply weren't able because there was no land under water in fact. Made me laugh :D it's not only a bug but also a useful strategy cause you can darkside and ensuring at the same turn your opponent isnt able to follow you. As if you set a girder, but this would take two turns y'know ;)

...
CyberShadow's sarcasm hints that this isn't the case and franpa is talking bollocks.

Wow, there are so many W:A experts on this forum who clearly know how the game works better than me. Maybe I should resign from my position as a W:A maintainer, since I clearly don't know what I'm talking about!

Hey, I made no claim. :p

Wait, did you just say that drowning is a useful strategy, because the opponent can't subsequently kill you?
Well, okay, you probably just forgot to say that you meant digging back out of the water too, but I laughed!

Is digging back out of the water possible in the real world? I think the blowtorch fire will extinguish when it touches water (I mean, sink into the water).:D
Correct me if I'm wrong.

No, really, franpa is right:p

Who cares if this is possible in the real world? It's a bug man :D
Never seen a video game where people walk about water level as Jesus due to a bug (Or something similar)?

Hahahahaha
Team17 make me laugh so often when I hear about their "backstage" activities
But that's not unusual, I heard that some alien sound effects of "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" were a slow-down recording of a baby's cry:D
If you remove or make the water waves transparent you can see that you can't burn where there is no ground.

Franpa - the terrain is probably stored in RAM, just not rendered. It's still there - you just can't see it or interact with it without drowning.

If you can't see it... thus it's invisible... and can't interact with it... thus it's inmaterial... I'd say these are the two aspects to say it disappeared :D It's just as if you shoot a zook thus a hole appears. Of course this part is still there since it's stored in RAM, but... well. I guess you know what I want to say.

I am going to do this with Project X soon, maybe for the release of 0.8.0. So just tell Entuser to hurry up ;)

And yet more than half the world believes he exists.
