People usually use external programs like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro for making Shopper and all other kinds of colour maps. See here (http://worms2d.info/Colour_map) for further details on what format they use.

As for Intermediate maps, you can use the map editor that's in WA itself (see here (http://worms2d.info/Map_Editor_Guide)), I don't think there's a real alternative to that but it's actually been doing a good job for years. :)

A nice toolset map builder would be nice if some fellow made one like have lots of buildings to pick, icons to dot around, set block pieces, bridges etc. And supports icon packs for themes like mario blocks and tiles etc. Might encourage more map makers out there.

Tho photoshop for me is best atm.

It's kinda outdated but there is already a sweet tool like that, Jehuty's "The Architect" (http://www.finepointmedia.net/hwd/HWDPrograms/Thearchitect/TheArchitect.asp). IIRC someone else made a similar tool, was it Plutonic? Can't be arsed to search right now. :)

Edit: D'oh, that link is referring to the Wormanizer.. Can't find the correct link either, plus the nav seems to be broken. :/
Edit2: Fixed the link, found it. :p

Even tho im practically a noob with programming im having a go with a map maker tool. Will use tiles click to pick click to drop, with rotate options for placing L shape tiles in diff ways. Should have tile set packs so ppl can make their own. Dont expect it to be finished any time soon or ever it all is a learning experiance but if it gets finished ill share it here.

Using visual basic express 2008.

Atm i have a window then a picturebox to show the map and some menus. Whats working is open png and save png, about which says version, scrollable bits for the map picture area.

I need to eventually make.

Map Properties, creation, size dimentions.
Somehow force all pure black to not be used to keep this color for transparency.
Somehow use quality option to make it so no more than 128 colors so game can use all features on maps properly.
Create a tile system somehow and have it either drag and drop or somit from tile panel to map design area.

God i think i took too much on haha ah well. I only scripted st legacy game missions in c# last year and tried and did a mission in nwn.

Edit - Smeg... Someone done one that looks ok. Hmm ah well guess ill do somit else to learn programming.

ShootMe made one, it's called WormMM (http://worms2d.info/WormMM). Comes with "icon packs" for a few games and you can import your own from screenshots, etc.

It generates random maps for various game types.

Any image editor will work to create W:A maps.
Use the one you are most comfortable with.
