CPU: AMD Phenom X3 8600
Video: Asus 9800GT
RAM: 2GB dual channel DDR2 @ 1066 Mhz
DirectX: 11
OS: Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium
Installed from: Original Microprose CD

3.6.29.0 is installed along with the latest version of Wormkit. Rubberworm, Color Fix, and Jet Fix are on.

When I try running WA via wormkit.exe, it minimizes. Then when I bring it up, none of the buttons work. When I try running it via wa.exe, it goes black, then crashes to desktop. Using /nointro does make it run, although the colours are messed up and the buttons still don't work.

Please help.

Hmm. Try closing any open applications. Also close whatever process is responsible for the desktop widgets (I believe it's still called sidebar.exe, but it doesn't have a system tray to close it through.)

I did some fiddling around, and everything worked when I switched from my usual Aero theme to a basic theme. I didn't have to change anything else. :)

Another smaller problem. My sound effects are cutting short. My sound card is an Asus Xonar DS.

It's not a game problem. The sounds play correctly when I use my onboard audio.

I fiddled around with the Windows and sound card settings to no avail.

It doesn't affect all of the sounds. Most noticable are the Ninja rope fire, pre-turn/warning timer, and backflip.

Any ideas?

Those ASUS cards [and their drivers] seem to be aimed more toward the music listening crowd from what I've seen of people complaining about their performance in games. Those are mainly newer titles, but the point stands; I think you'd be best off asking about it on the manufacturer's forum.

Or try Daniel_K's driver pack from the Creative (Soundblaster) forum, it will be buried somewhere there for Xonar cards and should support most brands etc.

I installed the only thing for Xonar cards by daniel_k I could find, and it did nothing. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the sound card drivers, and disabling the onboard audio in the BIOS. All nothing.

Looks like I may have to use the lower quality onboard audio every time I load WA...
