New poster here:
I have installed and configured VB to play WA up to the point of joining games on worm.net, but no one can join any games I am hosting. I realise this is a router/firewall/port problem, but nothing I have found on the web has helped me so far. I am running XP sp3 on a vista 64 bit host, my router is a netgear DG834G. I am trying to run WA on a VM because I have a dual display and I want to use my second monitor to browse etc while running WA. I am using Virtualbox because VMPlayer performance was poor was running WA, and I didn't bother with VirtualPC because, well, you know it's bad.
I would really appreciate some pointers here, thanks in advance

The easiest solution for you is to just use alternative hosting solutions (http://worms2d.info/Hosting_Guide#Last_resort). If you'd like to host in VirtualBox "natively", you'll have to forward some ports from your computer to the virtual machine (http://www.google.com/search?q=virtualbox+port+forwarding).

Thanks for the Wormnat2 tip, works like a dream. I feel a bit guilty using someone else's bandwidth, I'll keep tinkering with virtualbox in the meantime.
Thanks again,
Fintan.

Agree, Wormnat is the best solution for ANY Hosting problem.
I used to open the necessary ports in my router.....but now I prefer using wormnat instead since i changed my router 3 times last year.

Do people even read that message that pops up every time you start W:A + WormNAT at all?

Maybe I should make it even more annoying then, so lazy people would prefer setting up their ports properly.

Sorry if its bad protocol to bump, but I've noticed that W.A. will crash if I enter the map editor with 2D acceleration enabled on my VM. I'm trying to reduce cpu usage when running W.A. on VM. Does anyone know if:
1: 2D acceleration will actually take some load of my host cpu, and if so,
2: Is there a work around for this problem?

Thanks for any help, I appreciate VMs were not conceived of when W.A. was released, and I'm very much an amateur.
