I haven't posted anything mainly cause reading the various threads answered my questions. I had the Intel gfx + win7 color problem and wormkit + wkcolorfix worked wonders. The only other question I have is that I installed this game from my original cd and installed only the beta patch that you guys recommended. Is there a way to remove the insert cd notification? Or am I stuck with it since this is the official cd version? I really would like to play the game without the cd.

just my luck.. over the years this disc has taken a beating. and even though i was able to install the game, when making an iso there are some unreadable sectors starting with the file bummer.wav. looks like im stuck playing with the disc

You should try another software, which skips unreadable sectors. You can then replace broken files with other versions.
