View Full Version : Black screen + freeze when trying to play on Windows 7

I need some help, the menus are fine but when I try to start a match, the screen goes black and I have to use crtl + alt + del to close the game. I've done some research and I heard about a "beta patch", but I'm not sure, is that what I need? If so, where can I find it?

How about reading the sticky threads before posting?

Sorry, I had done some research and read the FAQs but didn't notice one of them (which was the one that had the answer to my problem, coincidentally)

Well, then I guess I should be thankful for your FAQ :)

EDIT: Wait, now I have another problem, I used the colorfix thing (put the WormKit in the WA folder, along with the colorfix), and the color is fine, but sometimes it gets all weird (and comes back to normal, it's random). What's wrong this time?

Instead of aimlessly trying solutions, you should first try to understand the problem.

Did you see the "Palette.log"? There must be some programs that interfere with WA's palette.

That's actually the same page I had seen before asking the problem (along with one of your threads in this forum). I closed everything I had opened so it wouldn't steal the color palette, used the colorfix program but the colors still get weird and go back to normal at random times.

Since you haven't mentioned despite being pointed at it several times, I assume there is nothing noteworthy in your palette.log file?

Here's what's in my palette.log file:

[2010-01-08 12.46.20] Palette set by 0x800FC ""
[2010-01-08 12.46.20] Palette set by 0x10010 "" [csrss.exe]

Isn't the colorfix supposed to automatically end the csrss.exe while in-game along with the explorer.exe? Otherwise, I'd have to end it via crtl + alt + del which would make the program pointless since it's supposed to be automatic.

No.
Actually, it is impossible to end csrss.exe, or else your computer will crash (I mean, you'll see the infamous BSOD).

Ah... I'm a total noob when it comes to computer stuff, so I didn't know that.

But then I don't understand what I need to do. The only thing that seems to work is actually ending explorer.exe by myself, but I want it to be automatic with the colorfix.
