SORRY IN DAVANCE IF THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN COVERED!!!

OK, so I am just getting around to posting this. I installed the 64-bit version of Windows 7 and everything is fine - except worms... :(

I use the Wormkit with the wkcolorfix modules. That atleast gives me normal colors during gameplay - although the colors get funky when I am using the map editor to save my imported PNG files.

But during gameplay, it's fine. The glitches I am referring to are:

1. Every few seconds (sometimes even more frequently), I get a flash of pixelated colors super-imposed over the game.

2. The game seems to run a lower framerate than it used to in Windows XP. I play a lot of worms, so I am pretty sure I am not imagining this.

The lower framerate is annoying, but not horrible. The constant flashing of something all over the screen is not so bearable. Any ideas?

Thanks
Jay

Try closing any and all other programs, one by one, until the problem disappears. Things to pay extra attention to are programs with fancy graphics or desktop enhancers (including the standard desktop gadgets).

The file palette.log from your W:A directory may provide some insight.

Hmm.. I will try the programs-closing deal. Although the only noticeably running programs are:

1. MS Security Essentials
2. Daemon Tools
3. ATI Catalyst Control Center

I usually keep all programs shut. Also, it seems I don't have a palette.log file. I will also say that I just tried it with even the CCC closed and it still glitched up. I can also report that turning off the background entirely GREATLY improves the game. I haven't had to do that on a desktop PC in years. It seems that running W:A on a Windows 7 system is like trying to run W:A on a much older system.

My specs:

Core 2 Duo 2.8
6.0 GB RAM
ATI HD4850 1 GB

I would think that should be fast enough ;)

EDIT: Just wanted to say that I enabled the slowfrontendworkaround and the slowfrontendworkaround_antiflicker tweak. I also went into my monitor settings in Windows and changed it from 60 to 75hz (maximum supported). The performance is now slightly better. Still not what you would want from a pretty powerful system. But atleast the flashes of graphics no longer show up. The framerate is still a bit meh...

Don't forget about trying to terminate some processes from the process list. Notably, I haven't noticed any obvious way to disable the Windows 7 gadgets other than terminating sidebar.exe.

Yeah I don't use that. What's all this talk about explorer.exe?
