View Full Version : WA + Windows 7 forevar ~<3
I spent some time researching recent and past posts on the subject, but saw some disagreements, and I personally think closing explorer.exe is a bad idea. Can we have a Sticky for the best way to get rid of the bad colors when running WA under Windows 7? I think a lot of people would appreciate it in the future.:D

Did you try wkColorFix yet?
No, does that not close explorer.exe?:)
Edit: I'm trying to try wkColorFix, but what do I do with the wkColorFix.dll and wkColorFix.dpr?:)
Edit also: I since found out how to use it, with Wormkit, and my color is okay for the most part (turns dark red when I log into Wormnet, and is all black if I come back from a minimized state when hosting, pre-game, but those aren't big issues), I just can't seem to host (again XD) in my new Win7 setup, but I'ma go search the forums for an answer now.

wkColorFix.dll and wkColorFix.dpr?
The wkColorFix.dpr is the source code. You can simply ignore it unless you want to learn how to code (or compile).
The wkColorFix.dpr is the source code. You can simply ignore it unless you want to learn how to code (or compile).-learns C++ 8D!!
okay i have a new problem: the menu to minimize the game (or even quit, for that matter) when hitting ESC during a game (online, i'm hosting) doesn't appear, which is especially bad when the colors get funky at the beginning of the game and i can't bring up the ESC menu to minimize to fix them. how do i get the ESC menu back?
help?:<
i dunno what to search for to find my answer in older posts~<3
"esc menu" didn't work xD

You can also minimize the game with Shift+Esc. Try the TimerWorkaround_On.reg tweak for the menu problem.
Yay that did it!!:D
shift and esc didn't work before either, but the TimerWorkaround_On.reg tweak did!! http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=38119&highlight=TimerWorkaround_On.reg
i'm glad cuz i was looking into getting XP Mode for my Win7 but i just found out my computer's too old to have virtualization hardware >x3
the last problems i have aren't as big a deal as this other stuff, but in the case that there are any tweaks or such for them, i'd appreciate knowing!=)
i have slight lag, black water, a black sky, slightly fuzzy graphics, and lower quality audio than i did in WinXP

crud!! D8 the esc menu doesn't come up again! do i have to run TimerWorkaround_On.reg every time? (i believe i read that i don't) i'm using Win7 and Wormkit..is there something i have to do with Wormkit to make the TimerWorkaround_On.reg work? or, what should i do? D8 sorry for all the problems, but my WA certainly doesn't like my Win7 <33
thanks for the black sky/water info, i'm waiting for a new graphics card to arrive in the mail 8)!

(i was wondering if maybe the problems are because my current nvidia card isn't compatible with win7, in which case nothing i try would work? if this log doesn't reveal anything useful, i should be able to survive until i get the new graphics card from newegg=) i'm gettin pretty good at playing with inverted graphics xD)

Have you tried installing the latest drivers yet?
Yeah, but my card is so old that NVIDIA doesn't have a Win7 driver, so I e-mailed them asking for a good card to replace mine with, given my system specs, motherboard, etc., and they linked me to a $40 newegg one, which i boughted:3 So I could just wait for that, then, and then see whether or not it fixed my issues.
Thanks >X3
A problem that happened just now for the first time ever is that when I hosted and right-clicked the map to get into the map options, the screen froze at all black with just the cursor and the droid-like background music continuing. I waited for about 3 minutes while trying every Windows combination I know of, like CTRL ALT DEL, nothing worked and I had to force a restart. Is this an issue you know of?:)

That sounds like a hardware lock-up; hardware lock-ups normally cannot be directly caused by user-level applications, such as W:A. It would indicate a hardware or driver problem.
After ample time to test my new graphics card with WA, I'm perty much satisfied.:)
The color messes up as soon as I join Wormnet, but I can still read stuff and it fixes before I enter the game.
Sometimes the ESC Menu is missing from games, sometimes it isn't, so it might depend on what program(s) I have open (for example, maybe having Adobe Photoshop CS3 open disables the ESC Menu, as it does when it's open and I'm working in Microsoft Office Word).
But yay, everything that matters is fine now. Thanks!:)

I've been trying for the past week or so to play Worms Armageddon on Wormnet with my friends but I seem to keep having the same problem over and over again. I can enter the room just fine, send messages, etc... I can host the room fine, but when we start the game and the nuke pie loads, I'll either be instantly disconnected or sometime into a game get disconnected.
appers the message in the dialog box that the players disconnect due to disincronazation and leaves the game.
this problem can be related to this: in a host window, almost every time when the server load the map i cant see the map loaded...is the same map all over again
help me please!
