Any chance someone could see if there's an obvious reason why it's not working from the attached error log, and my system spec please?

For info, my WA disc is the original one (with the nuke design on it)

Spec:

Intel 975 CPU
Nvidia 295 GFX
6GB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

WA installed clean, patched with .29 patch and then run clean with no other files copied... the screen goes black, then I get an error saying "Fatal Error - Worms Armageddon has encountered an error. Detailed information about the error can be found in the ERRORLOG.TXT file."

Below is the error log file. Having read through, some others are obviously getting further than me with this install, so any help would be appreciated. I also have the "Sold Out" re-release CD of this game, so if you think it would help to install off that CD then please let me know, but this other CD is in good condition and installs fine with no stalling. It's also my main CD i used for playing Worms often on my XP system before I upgraded to Windows 7 this week.

Many thanks, it's much appreciated.

Could you post the file CRASH.DMP, also from your W:A directory?

Yes, apologies I'd forgotten about that file!

DirectDraw crashes in FlipSurface... could you try updating your video drivers?

DirectDraw crashes in FlipSurface... could you try updating your video drivers?

Just checked, but i've got the latest drivers for my card from NVidia, version 191.07.

Do you think the issue might be fixed in a future patch?

Many thanks for your help

I'm not sure if it's a problem with W:A in the first place.

I could look into this further, but a full minidump would help. Could you reproduce the crash, but hold down Shift and Control when it crashes. It should result in a larger CRASH.DMP file.

I've done the minidump, but it's 26.5MB zipped, 108MB unzipped.

Is there a way I can send this file to you as it's too big for the forum?

I've been staring at this for a few hours, and for all I can see it's not W:A's fault. nvd3dum.dll is making an invalid virtual function call, that ends up in junk memory. You could try installing an older nVidia driver version.

Ok, no problem, it must be to do with the gfx card compatibility then like you said.

Thank you very much for looking at the problem, I really appreciate it!

Update to this in case anyone else has similar hardware and same problems.

The problem was the Nvidia 3D vision application and drivers! Whilst the 3D is enabled, it appears that it tries to convert any dull screen Direct 3D app into a 3D image for use with the glasses.... obviously it was crashing Worms.

As soon as I turned this off, Worms worked fine.

Many thanks for all your help though, it was much appreciated and helped me narrow down what was at fault.

See you on Wormnet! :P
