Hi all ! Didn't play W:A for...so long time ! But I have got a new PC (windows vista) The game works but only at the lower resolution 640x480 ... (it's anoying, especially while using a monitor of 1680x1050 :(
If I try to set above 640x480, i have got very ugly and unplayable colors (try make a print screen of the game and paste it in paint, you'll get same)
Is there a way to get normal colors above that low resolution ? (exept leaving Vista, I cannot do it)

Close all instances of the process "Explorer.exe" via Task Manager then use Task Manager to launch the game.

There are many BAT files posted on these forums to automate the process for people as well.

Also, you can try the wkColorFix (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=38762) module.

I cannot delete explorer.exe script, lmaking this, I cannot run the game (icon disapear, menus too and also opened windows) :(

That is the point, when you close explorer.exe, all those stuffs disappear, but the Task Manager remains there for you. You can hit the New Task... button, or something like that, which means you run something, it's the same like hitting it's icon two times with the mouse, there you browse wa.exe and run it. I use WA like that too, since I have Windows 7.

Ah...This was fixed, but they get scrambled again, even if i closed explorer.exe processus, colors are not fixed, I really don't understand... :(

crashday: something is stealing your palette. try closing unneeded programs while playing.

even when killing ex i have no mouse pointer in the w:a front end about 25% of the time, sometimes even if it does show up i cannot click. w:a has crashed 2 times on me, and has crashed my graphics driver (erroring itself) 2 times out of like 50 games. ill try to save the error log next time.

when i was using the wk module it happened alot less, about 50% the time as opposed to 80% of the time and used to "lose" the courser 50% of the time.

i think my laptop has the worst symptoms of all pcs for this ailment.

Only programs running when I play the game are avast, mc afee, msn (tryied close MSN, but it fixed nothing).

If W:A crashes your graphics driver, the problem is in the driver, not W:A. Drivers aren't supposed to crash under any circumstances (unless the device is malfunctioning or the system is unstable).

I can't understand what you mean. Please explain clearly what happened.

P.S. Have you looked at the "palette.log" file? It lists all applications that have stolen WA's palette before.

As example, ilagine this forum, the T of "Team17" is on the bottom right side, the E of "Team17" on the top middle, the A of "Team17" on the middle left...

IIRC, it's the problem related to your graphic card. Try updating your driver or re-inserting your card. If that doesn't work, use another graphic card to play WA.

and read the readme on how to take proper screen shots with this game.

Try re-inserting your card.

And while you're at it, try re-inserting your CPU, RAM modules, power cords and anything else that may work better if it would better fit its slot.
