View Full Version : Hosting problem
Hello. Here am I again :P
My problem is simple: sometimes ppl can't join my games and I don't know why. The big deal is that this does not happens all the time, but just at some days. There are days that ppl join and play normally with me as the host. But at specific days simply no one can join! I already asked other players but they say that can't connect to the game. I wonder why this happens...

Assuming you have a router or other NAT network setup - have you configured your computer to use a static local (LAN, not Internet) IP address?
Yes, I'm using a static IP, because I don't share my connection with no one.
And a detail: When I turn off my computer, my modem shuts down too (because they are both plugged on the same stabilizer), and when I turn it on again and it connects to internet, My IP address changes (I checked this by going to sites like whatismyip.com and others). And when I go to wormnet configs, my IP is still the same that was on last connection, I think this is the reason why ppl cant join me sometimes. If that's the case, how can I solve it?

Your IP address is auto-detected when you connect to WormNET, not when you start W:A.
You could check if the games you're hosting are hosted at the correct IP address, using e.g. the Web Snooper (http://snoop.worms2d.info/).
Yes, I always used ProSnooper (very similar to WebSnooper). I tought it could be "jumping" the login process, because it goes straight to the game's main screen, but I remembered that when I was using a shared connection this never happened to me. Maybe there's something to do about it?
Or something different I must do?
Sorry for the insistence, it's because I don't want to stop using ProSnooper because it's a nice program, neither configure a new IP everytime I play. Is there any solution?

I can't help you when hosting with ProSnooper. Does hosting work when you use the game?
It seems that when I connect the wormnet from W:A's main .exe, it works fine. My problem is when hosting with ProSnooper, game don't auto-detect my IP anymore (like it did in the past, when I used shared internet connection, and could host with PS with no problem).
Well, I will try to find the problem myself. Thanks anyway for your help. ^^

ProSnooper will probably not auto-detect your IP address like W:A does.
You can work around this problem by using a free DNS service (e.g. Afraid DNS (http://freedns.afraid.org/)) with a client to update the DNS name to your IP.
