old laptop (>5years) running XP

been getting very hot recently..

tried running w:a on a fresh windows install, but still these high temperatures.

I've disassembled the laptop, and given the CPU cooling fan and heatsink a good dusting (without actually removing the heatsink from the chip)
... but to no avail.

any ideas? and don't say buy a new lappy!

The next version of the game won't use the CPU 100% all the time while in a game. Wait for that or remove the heatsinks on various hardware and apply new thermal paste?

edit: uh hum if it gets that hot then uh surely W:A isn't the only thing that makes it get that hot right?

Well, i dont run many other performance demanding applications.
There isn't a way to redue the CPU usage on w:a before the 'next version'?

underclocking and undervolting; not something i'm familiar with, but will look into it.
