Does the true skill system take in to account the rank of the player who you play against in the algorithm?

Just I've noticed one player (who shall remain nameless) in the forts top 10 avoids all the other skilled players, he just quits out of lobby and plays only against newbies.

On another aspect, I was good enough to beat the ranked number 1 on forts (true ranked number 1, not them 2 glitchers) a couple of nights ago (as I never duck out of any games in the lobby, or quit, even when I know I'm gonna get beat) and noticed it didn't really effect my true skill at all.

So I am guessing True Skill does not take in the player rank you beat in the equation, and so as such, peeps can avoid the good players, just like when they quit when losing, to try and make there win percentages look better than they would be?

It would be nice if this could be part of the equation/algorithm, so that the good players don't get avoided (an increasing problem for those top ranking) and the newer players have an incentive to play against them to boost there trueskill.

Lastly, what effect does someone quitting on you have on your true rank skill (does it count towards it as a proper win or reduces it for unfinished or stays the same)? I ask as I think this is another reason why quitters quit.

Anyway.. Just me thinking out loud again (I think I've covered every subject of concern now, teehee). I must stop nit picking.

UPDATE/EDIT: Here's something else I just encountered which is rather annoying and another way players are trying to get out of games...........

I only play Forts as it is my game of choice, There's a player who created a lobby room (as obviously must be no other games to join) and they refuse to start the game. I go in and out of the room several times hoping to get in another lobby or start my own, I keep having to rejoin the same lobby as I can't avoid him (it's impossible), as to submit a player review to avoid you must of played them 1st. So because he holds the room he is ****ing everyone off as they keep joining his room and he refuses to start a game! Peeps can't start there own as his is sitting there with an open lobby for all to join (only work around is for someone to sit there with the idiot in his lobby so everyone else can leap frog over and play by setting up there own lobby or joining someone else's). I think he is waiting for a newbie to enter before he starts any game so that he knows he will win (problem for him and so consequently us, is that not many are playing atm online).

Im not sure how TrueSkill is calculated at all, but it is a cross-game concept, so it might also be worth looking to see if there's a normal convention for it, or if it is up to the game developers how it is calculated.

Based on the fact xbox called it TrueSkill, to me the name sounds like they're implying their own rules to try and make it a 'true' rank.

If it doesn't factor in how good the opponent you beat is though then its not that good in my opinion. Wormers can get lucky - I picked up a concrete donkey once in fort against a kickas player, and wouldn't have won if it was practically any other pickup.

It might be because he was battling skilled opponents earlier, but now that he is in the top 10, he quits out if he sees any.

Yes, it takes into account the other players trueskill.
