This may never happen, but hey, it's a good idea.

So I was browsing the web the other day, and I found this picture.

(Image is really big, so click this link) (http://fc03.deviantart.com/fs19/f/2007/315/0/9/09f01fba114573f2.jpg)

Now, these are Worms dressed up as the character's from Valve's popular multiplayer game Team Fortress 2. This got me thinking. What if Valve and Team17 teamed up and actually made this game? It would be TF2 and Worms put together. The game modes would be from TF2, and the weapons and universe will be from Worms.

Now, the weapons for each of the 9 player classes from TF2 would be the Worms equivalents to those weapons. I will go into detail about that now.

Scout
--------
TF2 Weapons: Scattergun, Pistol, Baseball Bat
Special Abilites: Double-Jump, Fastest Class
Worms Equivalents: Shotgun, Jet Pack (since Scout is the fastest class), Ninja Rope, Baseball Bat

Soldier
--------
TF2 Weapons: Rocket Launcher, Shotgun, Shovel
Special Abilities: Can jump higher by shooting rockets at his feet, at the cost of some health
Worms Equivalents: Bazooka, Shotgun

Pyro
------
TF2 Weapons: Flamethrower, Shotgun, Fire Axe
Special Abilities: Sets enemies on fire
Worms Equivalents: Blow Torch, Fire Punch, Dragonball, Shotgun

Demoman
-----------
TF2 Weapons: Grenade Launcher, Stickybomb Launcher, Beer Bottle
Special Abilities: His stickybombs are remote bombs that can be detonated at will, can jump higher using his stickybombs at the cost of some health
Worms Equivalents: Grenades, Cluster Bombs, Dynamite, Land Mine, Holy Hand Grenade, Banana Bomb

Heavy Weapons Guy
----------------------
TF2 Weapons: Minigun, Shotgun, Fists
Special Abilities: Has the most health
Worms Equivalents: Minigun, Shotgun

Engineer
----------
TF2 Weapons: Shotgun, Pistol, Sentry Gun
Special Abilities: Can build Sentry Guns, Dispensers, and Teleporters
Worms Equivalents: Shotgun, Sentry Gun, Teleporters, Girder, the Drill

Sniper
---------
TF2 Weapons: Sniper Rifle, SMG, Machete
Special Abilities: Sniper Rifle
Worms Equivalents: (Is there a sniper rifle in Worms?), Uzi

Spy
-----
TF2 Weapons: Revolver, Electro-sapper, Butterfly Knife
Special Abilities: Can cloak, can use his electro-sappers to disable and destroy Sentry Guns, can get 1-hit kills when he stabs enemies in the back
Worms Equivalents: No ideas.

Medic
-------
TF2 Weapons: Syringe Gun, Healing Gun, Bonesaw
Special Abilities: Can heal teammates, can make a teammate invincible for 10 seconds
Worms Equivalents: Lightning Strike, (no ideas for the other weapons)

So, does it sound like a good idea? Or no?

Hey they could also team up with Blizzard and Make World of Wormcraft! Or Team up with Microsoft and make... Haloworm? Or team up with LucasArts and make The Secret of Wormkey Island!

Half-Worm! Counter Worm: Source! BioWorm!

Woah, I just have to think of a franchise I like, mix it with worms, and a brilliant idea is born! Oh my!

At best I see it workings as a real-time project-x script, at worst, a flash game.

There's a Wormpot mode in WWP that makes your worms "specialists" so that each worm can only use certain weapons. One gets all of the blowtorch/drill sort of tools, one gets bazookas, one gets grenades, one gets guns, etc. etc. I take it that's the sort of thing you're hinting at? (I'd actually like to see support for that kind of gameplay mode again, maybe it'll come to WA one day, and I'm sure someone will make a TF2 themed weapon set for the worms).

On a serious note, a TF2 Worms:Armageddon scheme mode has been already been studied into great detail years ago. And the new scheme format would allow us to recreate it along with spawn points and such.

Given only 8 worms per team, it might be best to leave out the spy. What would be cool though, is if you could have a worm that was always invisible. An invisible worm with some movement utilities and a super powerful close range attack would be fun. (There's no knife, but a 256 power battle axe would be an instant kill).

Now that you mention it, I think I remember something about that. A forum search comes up with nothing though. Maybe it was on IRC? (Or maybe it's come up so many times in different places that it doesn't matter)

I think it was a .txt file, but I don't really remember

IIRC, it has been requested for the WA patch some time ago to allow customizing the specialist mode, because as it is now, it's quite unbalanced.

Specialist mode, as it stands, is rubbish.

It was probably this text file, written in ~2004: http://www.clansfx.co.uk/downloads/TeamObjective.txt

The reason why this game would work (and I mean a Worms Half-Life wouldn't work), is because a lot of the TF2 and Worms weapons are very similar.

No, the reason why it would work is because both games love hats.
