View Full Version : Back flip double tap is too fast for kids

My kids and I played worms all weekend and had a great time together. We haven't had this much fun playing a game together in a very long time and I'm gratefule to Team 17 for creating such a unique game with a great sense of humor.

However..ahem, the double tap X back flip is timed too quickly and younger, smaller hands have a hard time pulling it off. This often results in jumping the wrong direction, often straight into the drink, which can be very frustrated for younger players who are trying to learn all of the different weapons and tactics.

When the inevitable patch comes out to fix the game freezes and crashes, (which we have experienced several times on local matches, not online) would you please slow down the double tap for the back flip?

Also, what happened to the pirate theme?

It would be better to have some way to adjust the sensitivity although, that might require a bit too much work. There seem to be higher priority issues at present though.

you're right, a toggle to give you speed choices would be nice. Personally I see this as a high priority because it effects EVERY game, unlike some other glitches that only occasionally occur.

(I haven't spent much time online, so those reported problems haven't been high on my list.

It's all relative I suppose. It's something I've got used to. I don't get it right everytime but, that's always been part fo the fun of playing worms, the monumental disasters caused by mis-judgements or mis-timings ;)

Agreed, the "controlled" chaos and happy accidents is what keeps us laughing and coming back for more. But having said that, little kids get frustrated easily when they can't have at least some basic control over their characters. These are not kids who can ninja rope all over the map like a zip line. They are terrified about using the parachute and the jet pack almost always ends in disaster.
So inching their way across the map is usually their only way of getting A to B. That and teleporting.

It would be useful for small children to have a "double-tap sensitivity" option...

Do you have any Xbox 360 controllers with a "Turbo" button? That way, you would just have to hold down X in order to double jump...

interesting idea, but no. In fact I just bought a fourth standard controller just for this game. so no more $$ on controllers for the moment.

Well, usually turbo controllers work at a high speed (usually around 20/30Hz) and so you would have to press it for a really short amount of time NOT to backflip. Not ideal...

Ah. The flaw in the logic.

you speak so why not have this problem now for those who suffer, it is very frustrating.

Does W2:A have the vertical jump? If not, why not change it so holding the jump button does a backflip?

Just be thankful there's no mini-backflip! ;)

I loved the mini-backflip.

Anyway, there are several buttons that are practically unused(or have repeated use), they could map it to one of those... Even better, they should let us customize our controls.:p

Control mapping would be nice. I still have to deliberate over which button is jump and which is fire from time to time. I can't remember which does which, all I know is it seems backwards to me so sometimes I go to jump by trying to fire on purpose because I know it's the wrong way round but then after getting used to it I try that and it backfires.

I know... it should be easy to remember but for some reason it just won't stick. :p

I, and all my friends, have had that problem with every Worms game ever.

Although it does make good laughs when one of us accidentally jumps into a hole in the floor, down and back up a half-pipe slope, and end up in the water.

I'm 15, and I still end up jumping the wrong way. It makes me angry, especially in whatever God-awful level I'm stuck on in the cheese moon thing.

The problem is that jumping in this worms as opposed to worms: xbla is a lot more responsive, which is a good thing... however, the consequence is that you don't have that slight delay to press X a second time, instead, you have to do it a lot quicker.

The back button is just one of many buttons they could map to back flipping.

I like the idea of holding the button to backflip.
