Some friends and I are trying to play WWP in lan mode over hamachi, we all have vista. We set up hamachi and load worms, but none of us can see each other.

As an alternative, we tried wormnet, where we can see each other, but if we try to host a game the other players can't connect - wormnet reports our local IP address (local router assigned address, i.e. 192.168.x.x) as the host IP.

We were able to play when we had a lan party, but playing over the net seems to be impossible for us right now. Has anyone gotten WWP working on Vista with Hamachi?? If so, how?

Try forwarding the port 17011 in your router.

And then not using Hamachi.

@robowurmz: We already tried DMZing ourselves in our router, which opens all ports.

@KRD: You suggest not using Hamachi? How else are we going to simulate a LAN over the internet?

Assuming you have successfully forwarded the ports 17011 [TCP] and 6677 [TCP] in your router's configuration and have no other firewall interfering with traffic on them, following the part of this guide that tells you how to enable what is known in Worms Armageddon as the "Force IP" option, as well as telling the game what your external IP address is [through editing some registry values], should allow you to host WormNet2 games normally:

Note that only the person hosting has to go through this and also that WWP allows you to password WormNet2 games, so you shouldn't have too much trouble with privacy compared to a simulated LAN. If anything goes wrong or if my sentences are too long to make sense of, let us know. :o

Thanks so much, we were able to play tonight on WormNet using your advice.

One question I have though. Is it possible to enter computer players into the mix as well when we play over WormNet? From what I've found it doesn't appear to be?

No, sadly not. Maybe once it gets implemented into W:A and once the merge of WWP and W:A is done.

Glad to see it works, but I wouldn't be me if I didn't try to persuade you to try playing the game with others on WormNet too sometime. It's great fun and it'll only get better once everyone with a WWP CD will be able to come play with us on WA, like Muzer says, merging the two communities even more than they have already been merged.
