Hello there,

We're currently re-building our database of usability testers, and are looking to recruit people to take part in usability testing to help us judge whether the mechanics of our games are easily enough understood, and to better judge (amongst other things) difficulty, something notoriously hard for game developers to gauge themselves.

Anyone under the age of 18 will need to have their parent or guardian sign a consent form before they can take part. Anyone you think might be interested should mail:

test@team17.com

Anyone mailing will need to send their name, age, address, and some sort of contact details (email, phone number, mobile, or all three if they like) so that we can get in contact with them the week before the test to check their availability.

The tests are likely to be 1-2 hours long, and will just require the test subjects to sit and complete tasks that we've designed to focus in on problems we see with the game.

The tests will be conducted at Team17 (in West Yorkshire UK. WF5 9JS) so you will probably need to live pretty close by.

I'm guessing Team17 won't pay for travel expenses or anything. Is that correct?

I'll treat you to something from our snack machine (so long as it is less than a quid)

Are we allowed to know the contents of said snack machine (healthy/unhealthy?) prior to agreeing?

Is everything £1.50 then? ;)

What sort of time(s) would the test(s) be? (month-wise)

Not sure I can warrant the time off work and the 4 hour drive, though if you do any remote alpha/beta testing like you did with the worms 4 demo I'll sign up for that.

I would love too, but there's this very inconveniently placed ocean between me and Team17. That and Norway.

You're not by any chance planning on conducting those test in other countries too, preferably Austria?

If you ever do any form of online testing, count me in.

Guys (OD), I'm interested in doing this but the practical reality of travelling to Yorkshire from Chester is getting in the way. How can I be convinced? Anyone willing to make a day of it if we are called? Could be chance for a mini meet.

Matty, I could ride my longboard from Brighton to Cheshire, we can have a pint or two, then we'll head up to Leeds from there. I don't have any safety equipment on my longboard so the pints will be to help us not die en route.

Lucky for you it's mostly downhill there and back.

Chester? That's nothing, I live in Cornwall; everything is a day's journey away. :p
Interesting prospect, but I have little interest/time to participate. Plus the distance is an irritating barrier.

Providing I had the money, I would contemplate coming over from Austria if I could test the old Worms Battle Rally prototype and see the beer cellar. ;)
