This is for all those people who never got worms world party to work with windows vista, comment on this thread and tell me if you agree that team17 should create a new wwp just for vista, and older editions, or if you like, you can try and help me find a way to get it to work :D

Why not just get the new Worms game thats coming out FIRST on xbox, then on pc?

I'm confused. Are you asking either:
1: That they should re-make WWP for Vista?
2: That they should just improve the current WWP to be more compatible?
3: That they should make a new PC worms game altogether, which they are?

Step 1: To get a improved experience for Vista/Windows 7, visit the Team17 online store and purchase Worms: Armageddon.

Step 2: update to the latest beta.

Step 3: play!

IIRC the new worms game will be on steam only, and sounds a bit more limited than WWP/WA.

I would like a new version of WWP which works every time on vista. However that will never happen. There is still some community driven development for WA and sometime in the future it will integrate wormpot and the mission editor. Until then I guess we just have to wait.
Version 4.0 of WA is going to be playable with a WWP disk I think.

As to getting the current WWP to work on vista, it's a bit of hit and miss. On this laptop I managed to get it running perfectly (after lots of tries). However about a month ago my vista installation became corrupt, and I had to reformat. I haven't been able to get WWP working perfectly since.

Each time I reinstall something different is broken. One time the game was fully playable except for the team creation. Another time I could create teams, but not actually play the game. It's honestly just luck of the draw.

i know this may not sound like the best way forward. i have vista and an nvidia graphics chipset.
what i do it use task manager to shutdown the process "explorer.exe" then use task manager to start worms, this works fine, when i have finished, i use task manager to start "explorer.exe" up again.

works every time for me.

It's coming out on XBox 360 first and on that it's called Worms 2:Armageddon (check out the subforum under "New & Upcoming titles"). It will later be released on PC, and its name may or may not change, that has yet to be confirmed.

It seems this new game will be quite similar to Worms Armageddon, which was more or less identical to WWP. It'll certainly be the closest thing you'll get to WWP. Generally it isn't feasible and economically viable to re-release an 8 year old game (particularly one like WWP, where other similar games in the series are more popular) to make it work on an operating system it was never designed to work on. Worms 2 Armageddon (or Worms Decades - have seen that name bounce around a bit) will be the closest thing to a WWP re-release.

So you are saying I should just BUY a new game altogether? -_-

Well, Worms Armageddon (the original release, which is still being updated and works on Vista) only costs £5.99 including shipping: https://secure.team17.com/browse.html?area=detail&skuid=79

If you wish to play 2D worms on Vista and don't want to buy the new game when it's released, WA really is the best solution.

Not if you have an Intel graphics card/chipset

yes, forgot to mention that them graphics chips don't have drivers that properly support direct draw under Vista because Intel are lazy *******s.

Okay, that seems reasonable, I think I will wait till this new game comes out on PC, then just go ahead and buy that, if you think it seems similar to WWP, I guess I will just have to play WWP on my old, slow compy

Well thanks anyway for the help, I appreciate it

Or you can just install a fix and play the current worms world party under vista.
