Hi!

I've been thinking a lot about how an iPhone version of the lovely Worms would look and feel. (So glad to stumble across a thread below here with a confirmation that it's coming!)

Now what I was thinking was to use the *tilt* function of the iPhone (the accelerometer) to control downfall of the napalm and other "wind" affected weapons. This would remove the, sometimes, random factor causing certain weapons to be less useful when your turn comes up.

So in short: Instead of having the random wind, use the accelerometer to allow the player to control it! Should add another fun layer to the game and also make the iPhone edition more unique. :)

What do you think?

That's the second-worst idea I've ever heard.

I'm intrigued. What is the worst idea you've ever encountered?

Enabling the player to control weapons that are affected by wind would sort of defeat the point.

Defeat the point of wind yeah, as a completely random element. But I didn't say this would be easy to control! You could even keep a wind factor there but add a chance to "course-correct" using the accelerometer. It would just be a fun way to make use of that aspect of the iPhone methinks. ;)

Yeah, the whole point of wind in artillery games is to keep players from copying shots.

It could be used just like the blow mini game in the DS version. Tilt/blow a parachuting worm to navigate a series of levels. I didn't want to blow on my DS but tilting would be ok. On the DS version, I just used the microphone like a button and tapped it with my finger (the DS Lite mic is sensitive enough for that but not the DS phat).

The touchscreen blast mini game was a lot of fun on the DS but would be harder on iPhone with no stylus.
