The Vampire Wendigo Game - 5!

*GAME HAS BEGUN!!!*

Alrighty then, since Grim feels like getting back into the mental fray of the game (and I know that at least some of you would like to take a crack at him now that he ain't godlike) I'll be your stunningly-handsome GM for this round.

I'm sure you're all familiar with the rules (barring the new ones I intend to implement, of course), but for clarity's sake I'll quote Grim's rendition of it, since I think he put them in a passingly acceptable way in the last game:

The premise is that you have a bunch of humans, a number of which have been infected by VAMPIRES! This is Not Good with capital letters. The humans decide the only possible solution is to lynch (Execute) people they suspect one at a time until all the vampires are dead. The vampires all know who their fellow vampires are, but the humans can be sure of nothing outside their own role.

During the Day, the players discuss things and vote for who they want to be lynched by putting their name in bold. The player with the most votes is executed, and can no longer influence the game. Their role remains secret to the public.

After the lynching, the Night begins. The Vampires discuss amongst themselves who they want to kill, then one of them sends me a PM with that person's name in bold when they have decided. At the start of the following Day I will post who was killed. Also, the Seer sends me a PM with the name of a player in bold who they want to learn the true identity of. I will send them a PM back at the start of the next Day telling them what role that player is. The Guardian Angel also sends me a PM with the name of a player in bold who they want to protect (They can choose themselves if they so wish), and if the Vampires have also chosen that same player to kill, they will be SAVED and will not die (It will be revealed at the start of the next Day that someone was saved, but not who). Finally, at the start of the next Day I will PM the Priest telling them the count of special roles still remaining.

Remember, anyone can claim whatever they wish, both in public and in private, so be careful who you trust! (No forwarding/quoting PMs from myself though).

[*Snip*]

DEAD. MEN. DO. NOT. TELL. TALES. If you have something to say, say it BEFORE you die. Once you are dead you are not supposed to be able to influence the game (ESPECIALLY revealing/hinting what role you were). You can have some Famous Last Words or such, and idly chit chat afterwords if you so wish, but no game talk! It is only meant to be a little in character fun. Honest, how many times must this be said????

(Additionally, people who have not even signed-up and are not a part of the game should not be making any game influencing talk/observations either. You can still post of course, but if you wanted to affect the game you should have joined it. <.<)

Role-playing is encouraged (That is to say, Lushmoss can continue to be crazy :p).

If you have signed up, do please try and be active enough (It does not take THAT much time after all :p). Obviously other things come first, and it is cool if you miss a vote or such because something came up, but if you are gonna play, then play. >.>

And a *REMINDER* to make sure that your PM inboxes have enough room to receive PMs!

Bearing all that in mind, here are my well-or-ill-(we'll see) considered additions to the rules:

~ 1. Vampires are somewhat cool. But not as cool as Wendigos! In this game, the "vampires" will be Wendigos: men who turn into yeti-like man-eaters at night. This is just a flavour thing, and otherwise should have no technical effect on the game.

~ 2A. One of the Wendigos will possess a special class of being the Godfather Cunning (Cheers bonz for the link!) If the Seer uses his special power on the Cunning Wendigo to detect what he is, the Cunning Wendigo will falsely come up as being Human with no special powers. This will make things a little more difficult for the humans, additionally considering that:

~ 2B. To clarify, The Cunning Wendigo counts as only a single special class in relation for the Priest, so he does not sense the loss of two special classes when/if the Cunning Wendigo dies.

~ 3. There'll probably be fewer Wendigos in relation to humans this time round. Take a deep sigh, everyone whose not a shoe size 35!

~ 4. By semi-popular request, there will be the Village Drunk. This is a purely role-playing class, and anyone may be selected to be the Drunk, even the Wendigos or the Cunning Wendigo. The Drunk must speak largely unintelligibly in-game, but otherwise can do anything that he could normally (vote, PM, etc.) This is purely for lulz, and does not come up as a special class. AA sessions are available during the game, upon request.

~ 5. I will be keeping to a strict-ish timetable. I haven't figured out the time exactly yet (grrr EST), but there will be 24 hour Days, and 24 hour Nights. If PMs come in quickly during the nights, then I may post those results ahead of time and add the remaining time to the "Day."

~ 6. Aha! Grim just pointed out that we need a Tie rule. So my rule is: if there is a tie, I flip a coin. And yes, I have 3-sided coins, in case a 3-way. :P If someone can argue a better rule, then by all means speak up. Because I can't hear your thoughts, despite my best efforts to the contrary. (Although, I do have the first 3 numbers of Franpa's pin code... I think.)

Okay, I think that's it! I'll keep this application open until we get enough people or I don't think any more will be coming. If the game is too small, then I may be rid of the Cunning role, to give the humans a better chance.

I believe I shall take part in this worthy endeavor.

Also, since this also came up in the last game, probably best to clarify that from now on any votes that come in before the post for the end of the Night/start of the Day will NOT be counted. Kelster23. -.-

Also also...Wendigos? Seriously? What does that even MEAN? D:

EDIT: Alright, I looked it up. That sounds less ridiculous than how you described it. :p Slightly.

EDIT EDIT: Also also also, if you put [ list ] [ /list ] tags around the list and before each name, you can organize the player list better, like so:

I did have a thought, is it worth beefing up the humans a bit too, what with the wendingo's getting an extra special role. Something like Brothers, where two humans know each other are human as the game starts?

If you missed the convo: the point on a special Wendingo is because three enemies alone weren't enough, while four was too much.

But now we know exactly how many vampires there are. Not that it helps though.

Well 3 has been enough before.
If the humans get lucky with the Seer, they should be fine. Otherwise, they'd best be really clever.

Anyway, thinking about it, is giving the Wendigos a bonus really worth it? I mean, I understand the reasoning, but Alien King is right in saying that 3 has been enough before. The "Cunning" role would be interesting if we had more people (And more thinking people :p), but as it stands it seems like a bit of an unnecessary thorn in the humans' side.

Though I suppose a few more people might still join. Maybe. D:

When I said this, I thought that about 16 people would be sufficient for the addition of a Cunning Wendigo. With 12, Grim and Alien may be right: it may become overbalanced for the humans if there was a Wendigo that the Seer couldn't detect.

I'll keep this open for at least another day. Then I'll start up the game and make a decision on the Cunning Wendigo.

16 Jan 2009, 08:21
You open the thick, oaken door by it’s tarnished bras knob to suddenly be engulfed in a wave of heat. Beyond the portal is a well-furnished room, with the shelves holding macabre trophies of many a sort: charms made severed body parts masterfully preserved by Amazonian tribesmen; ancient medieval weapons caked with long dried blood; the Masterball from Pokemon; a stuffed basilisk mounted above the fireplace. All these things and more can you take in at a glimpse. Then your gaze falls the exuberant chair by the hearth, where a dignified man dressed in a padded gown sits holding a glass of gin on the rocks in his hand. His bespectacled eyes drift across the pages of his grimoire, it’s contents hidden from your view by the lofty arms of the chair. His thin features are accentuated in a sudden moment when the lightening flashes through the curtains.

Suddenly he sees you, the camera crew, and in mock surprise the man makes a delighted sound. “Ah! I did not see you come in! Welcome! Please, make yourself comfortable!” He indicates a less-luxurious chair also situated by the fire, and as the camera crew reposition their equipment the Host returns to his book, finishing the last sentence he was reading. “I was just reading up on my Ancient Egyptian Volleyball players. Fascinating people they were,” he says, shutting the volume. “And possibly the best location for the sport. But I don’t think that’s what you’re here for… am I right? You want a story. A tale behind any of the many treasures that I keep here, no doubt!” He takes a sip from his gin, and looks into the furthest reach of the room… a corner where darkness camps like a boy scout in the forest. On the small table pressed against the two walls lays an object made of stone… into it’s surface, rough sockets have been cut, and a row of huge sharp fangs grin up at you. Somehow, just looking at it makes you feel cold.

The man in the chair smiles. “Ah yes. That artifact has a very interesting story behind it. A tale filled with bone-chilling horrah! Come closer,” he motions for the camera to zoom in. “And I’ll tell you it’s twists and turns well into the night…”

The bow of Tranquillity cuts through the waves of the Atlantic Ocean like a 100 ton piece of metal through a large body of a watery substance. It was a luxury liner, of a design reminiscent of the Titanic in design, although somewhat on a smaller scale. In fact, from a gull’s point of view it seemed as if Metal Alex and Alien King were recreating that epic scene from the movie at the front of the ship. However, a closer observer would tell you otherwise.

“For the last time: I didn’t kill you!” Screams Alien King frantically.

“I saw it!” Shouts back the enraged Metal Alex, whose dangling grip was the only thing keeping Alien from taking a dip. “In my dream! I was a vampire! And you killed me! It felt so real!”

Expletives ensue. “****ing ****ing ****!”

At that point Melon notices the attempted homicide and manages to wrest the two dudes away from the railing with much flailing. “I would’ve helped,” chips in Plasma to Kelster23 as they watch the spectacle unfold. “But they both owe me money. Or not. Can’t remember now.”

Suddenly there is a cry of disgust from one end of the deck. “The ship rocks too much!” moans Shadowmoon over a drawing pad. “I can’t draw in a straight line like this! And the sun’s going down, too!”

The only vaguely sympathetic response comes from bonz, in the form of being rather noisily ill over the side of the ship.

“Remember why we’re here, guys.” Pipes up Grim. “We’re here to get away from the stresses of Forum life on a holiday island cruise…”

“Yo!” Shouts Lushmoss, who happened to be wearing a captain’s hat. “Dinner’s ready! Everyone below decks!”

And with that, holiday-ers retired below-decks for the night in a sudden, hungry rush. With the exception of bonz, of course, who continued to throw up.

***

Much later, after the Captain has turned on the “Go to Bed” light above everyone’s seats, there is a sudden crashing noise. This wakes no-one who wasn’t awake before. Through the corridors, a non-chalant-yet-insidious Stone Skull floats along by it’s own volition, crashing through floors and ceilings to reach the deck. Finally somebody notices, and within a full hour following the warning shout every slacking one of you is topside, wondering at the strange glowing skull.

“Where’d it come from?” wonders yauhui.

“Not ye cargo hold…arg!” declares MtlAngelus, with enough guilt in his voice to fill a whale.

As one, the crowd turn to face the pirate. “MtlAngelus, have you been smuggling illegal substances in the hold?” asks ye SgtFusion.

“Arg no!”

“MtlAngelus, have you been smuggling an ancient Innuit relic created by the dark spirits to possess innocents, turning them into man-eating Wendigo creatures at night, intending to sell the relic on the black market later on without cutting us in on the deal?” asks Paul.Power, after successfully rolling a Nat. 20 on his Sense Motive check.

“Arg… aye. I smuggle when I be not pirating. But there should be some o’ those lucky Innuit charms down in the hold! Mebbe they 3 things bein’ help! Yarg!”

But by the time the entire crowd has arrived in the hold, they found that the entire place had been ransacked already by greedy fingers. Returning to the deck, they find the sun rising and slightly simian-looking Stone Skull floating in the centre as before.

“So… I guess one of us should have a crack at smashing the thing, huh?” suggests Super_Frea, although the crackling glow that the skull emits doesn’t exactly inspire anyone to step up.

Then someone suggests that they vote on who tries to break the dangerous relic… and so the game begins.

Day 1 begins. As always, you can decide to lynch the generous host of the game to start with. :’( The Godfather varient will NOT be implemented this game.

As for the timetable, I'll consider the day/night over round about the time of this post to 3 hours after every day.

Also, SgtFusion: I’ve just done the rolling, and you are the village drunk. Congratulations!

The rest of you, I'll be sending PMs momentarily.

There is something wonderful about this brief moment where I get to do something without knowing my own role. :p

GrimOswald tapped his bony fingers rhythmically along the banister of the ship, his eyes shifting from one person to the next suspiciously. He pulled out a fireplace, bookshelf and red armchair - which he kept about his person at all times in case he needed to appear knowledgeable - and sat down on the latter. He thought about bringing out a long gray beard and wise man glasses as well, but felt that may have been too over the top.

"The way I see it," he said slowly, because intelligent people speak slowly, "As captain of this vessel, it would seem that the duty of ridding the place of this cursed artifact should fall upon Lushmoss's shoulders." He proceeded to take out a pipe and blow smoke rings. Or he would have, had there been tobacco in his pipe, rather than what was actually there.

"Soap...bubbles?" He arched an eyebrow.

Paul.Power
16 Jan 2009, 09:16
Paul.Power went down to the ship's library to see if he could find any books on Wendigos. Sadly, the closest he could come was a book entitled "When Dingos Attack", which didn't sound very useful, even if it did give him a sudden feeling of deja vu. Something about Lushmoss. Lushmoss and dingos. As much as he didn't believe in all that nonsense about past lives, this sure as heck felt like something out of a past life. It was a tortuous connection, but at this stage it was all he had to go on.

"I agree with GrimOswald. Lushmoss... seems like someone who would get on with dingos, and while I have no idea as to the precise relationship between dingos and wendigos, perhaps the statue would look upon him more favourably than if someone else tried to smash it."

bonz
16 Jan 2009, 11:42
Bonz, still being quite pale, mentioned:
"For your interest, I have been drinking too many piña coladas at the bar when I came aboard. I am not seasick!"

Retching slightly he added:
"I say we throw Lushmoss overboard. He's an incompetent captain and his bumpy steering made me sick!
I mean... makes me sick, because I spilled so many of my drinks."

*As an interesting twist, I'll try to play this game as if I was playing... A graphical adventure game.*

After the cutscene is over, You find yourself in front of Alien King and Melon. Both of them now acting like if there wasn't a fight before.

You step away some steps to check the place again. You check your inventory.
-Paper clip x1
-Unused gum x5
-Empty bag of chips x1
-Lent money from Melon x5 Spondulucs

You decide it's too empty for now, and decide to find some crap to fill it up. You step towards one of the rooms, and find Lushmoss in his bed, in a fetal position, kinda creeping you out. You decide to grab an odd note from the floor, without him noticing, and leave the room. Without further hesitation, you read it.

-a box of eggs.
-2 Kg of potatoes.
-a bag of salt.
-a bottle of ketchup.
-detergent.
-toilet paper.

Without any doubt, you stuff it into your inventory, and head over to the main hall, where all the other people seem to be now, except Lushmoss, like triggered for some action you made, totally unrelated to everyone.

With a firm step, and having in mind the incriminating proof of the note, you say, in a clear voice: LUSHMOSS

Plasma
16 Jan 2009, 17:12
Plasma tries hard to think back to an old childhood story, "Green Eggs and Spam". Oh, how did it go again...

"I will not eat them in the rain.
I will not eat them on a train.
I'll never try and smash a glowing skull on a boat.
I will not, will not, with a goat!"
Huh. He always wondered why that line was put in the story. Regardless, it's probably not a good idea for him to hit the skull; if you can't trust a Chewie in a hat, who can you trust?

So, thinking back a little closer to the present, he also remembered being a vampire and a werewolf, and subsequently dying a few times. Considering he was still alife, that memory sounded a little farfetched. But hey, when life give you lemonades, you suck people's blood out!
More specifally, he remembered that there was always one guy pulling at the strings the whole time. And that guy was also always the one that never appeared on the Player Character roster.

And so he dashed to the passenger list for the cruise, where he noticed that two people were missing: Lushmoss and The Captain! Ideally, he thought, one of these two people should be the one to, ahem, 'volunteer' to break the skull!
Preferably the former, as otherwise the boat has a good chance of crashing.

Getting back to the deck of the ship, he made it known that he thought Lushmoss has a task to do. He also ordered someone to get Shadowmoon a beer to shut him up. He would've simply asked why he wanted someone to be thrown to the sharks, especially considering that there's no sharks in this part of the water, but he had better things to do.

Later, as he went to the wheel to confront The Captain as to why he left himself out of the list, he found out rather soon enough. Namely, that there was no The Captain, and nobody is actually steering this boat! He let out a sigh and took control. Ah well, he thought to himself, I was never really fond of taking breaks...

super_frea
16 Jan 2009, 18:21
Super_frea stood with an oddly green tinge of guilt masked upon his face.
"Egads!" he muttered quietly to himself.
"It is because of my suggestion that some poor soul will be forced to smash this evil glowing relic of death."

Yes guilt indeed. At least that's what he assumed it was. But in hindsight he thought it must simply be seasickness. Casually he wandered over to the edge of the ship where he found bonz and proceeded to vomit violently untill the sea below the ship was a deep shade of green. He then turned to face Lushmoss, exclaimed "IT MUST BE YOU!" Before collapsing with a dull thud.

Kelster23
16 Jan 2009, 21:56
Kelster23 sat down at put her fingers to her forehead, deep in thought about who should be the first to go. Who was the most suspectable? After reading a book titled How to Play the Werewolf/Vampire/Wendigo game, she rose to her feet and said "I think Lushmoss should be the one who goes."

Melon
17 Jan 2009, 01:40
"Well", thought Melon, "Metal Alex is a bit of a cad, but he does owe me money and I would like to get paid back sometime. Lushmoss it is then!"

Lushmoss
17 Jan 2009, 09:37
Lushmoss is unanimously voted for, although there were discrepancies as to whether he was to be fed to the sharks swimming ominously around the ship or be the one to try smashing the skull. Only yauhui was too busy playing shuffleboard by himself to be bothered to have his say. The majority thought that they were voting on skull-smashing, so Lushmoss (somewhat gladly, considering) reaches for a fireaxe and makes a running leap at the skull! His swing misses, due to a lack in the “being manly” department, and instead collides into the evil relic with his face…

There is bright flash of white light! A sudden gusty chill, followed by the sound of a heavy, icy object hitting the wooden floor. As everyone’s eyes adjust back to normal, they behold that the former-captain of the vessel was now frozen inside a diamond-hard block of ice. His twisted expression is hilariously stuck exactly the way it was when he hit the skull: pain, embarrassment, and great annoyance speak through the transparent-yet-very-solid prison/coffin.

You each look at one another. Best not to try that again…

Night begins to fall like a rock with wings. You all decide to reconvene tomorrow to decide how best to deal with your situation. Until then, much barricading of rooms goes on, as none of you will get a wink of sleep for fear of the Wendigo knocking on your doors…

Day 1 is over, and Lushmoss has been killed! Unless he is revived by super-intelligent dolphins in the future. But that’s highly unlikely. He’s probably dead for good. :’(

Night 1 begins! Please send me your PMs, thou who wilt stalk the night or push it back…

The coming of the dawn has never been so appreciated before for the passengers aboard the Tranquillity. At night, you could hear the thumpings of heavy feet and fist impacting whatever surface they encountered, and the unearthly screams pierced through your primitive barricades like a needle into cheese. The sun is up now, and, eventually, everyone makes their way to the deck… all except for SgtFusion…

…Who was already there, having not actually looked for shelter last night and instead hid inside a bottle of Jim Bean. A head count reveals that everyone survived the night, miraculously!

But there are still monsters amongst you: perhaps they toy with you, and bide their time. The nearest significant landmass is a hundred miles away… and you just froze your Captain and Navigator yesterday. Boldly, Melon sets a course as best he can, having read “Cruise Ships for Dummies” a while back, but it will be a 2 week trip back home at best. And yeah, the Wendigo…

Something must be done!

Day 2 has begun, and the Guardian Angel has made a successful save! Congrats.

The real reason i'm lynching Mtlangelus is because I caught him PM'ing yesterday- Lushmoss was online at the time too. When It had stopped showing him PM'ing I kept checking the online list, but it never showed Lushmoss private messaging, so the PM definitely wasn't to Lushmoss.

I couldn't prnt screen at the time because I was browsing on my PSP.

I mean, don't get me wrong, Angelus could well be one of the Wendigos (or he could be the Seer, or the Priest, or the GA, or just someone who happened to be PMing, or... well, one of the Wendigos). But it is pretty damn cheaty.

Problem here is that, if someone is PMing a lot, then there's an equal chance that he's a good special as that he's a wendigo.

Buuuut I'd much rather have a 50:50 chance of killing a wendigo:special than playing it safe. Killing a wendigo would be far more beneficial than saving a special.
So yeah, MtlAngelus.

GrimOswald breathed a sigh of relief - blood had yet to be spilled. But evil spirits were about. He could feel it in the air around him. Or was that the smell of SgtFusion's booze-induced vomit? Well, either way, it needed cleaning up. He pulled out a golden compass and glanced at the direction it was pointing.

"Hmm. Clearly there are far greater evils here than the Wendigos."

He pulled out a cleaning robot from one of his many pockets and placed it beside the pile of vomit. The robot took one sniff, then proceeded to jump overboard.

"Oh dear. That is the third one since we have been here." He pulled out a coloured handkerchief and began polishing the compass.

You can't say that. When does Lushmoss PM the specials back? ASAP? At the end of the night?

He does not need to be sending people PMs though for it to show Private Messaging. It shows up like that if he is reading one as well.

Having said that, I am very hesitant to believe "proof" like this, as it is certainly not infallible. I suspect Shadowmoon was lurking on Who's Online waiting for it to show the first person playing this game to go into Private Messaging, then taking a picture. After all, he has no proof of MtlAngelus being on at the same time as Lushmoss.

I vote Shadowmoon.

I can think of a fair few answers to this...

1) You targeted MtlAngelus during the first night. He was saved, thus the chances of him being the Guardian Angel are incredibly high, thus you now want him gone.
2) So that you can make the very argument you are making right now, that way people will think you are a human.
3) Similarly, providing a proper rational for voting for someone is a great way to make yourself seem more human.
4) Want to make sure there is a bandwagon for a human going first before a Wendigo can get targeted, but with nothing to go on you have to find some sort of explanation.
5) Did not think it through? Did not think it would be that risky?

EDIT: Bolded that part of your quote to emphasize how it relates to 4). It works both ways.

Paul.Power
18 Jan 2009, 15:49
3) Similarly, providing a proper rational for voting for someone is a great way to make yourself seem more human. This is true whether you're a human or a wendigo. After all, it's in a human's best interest to provide clear evidence to that effect.

4) Want to make sure there is a bandwagon for a human going first before a Wendigo can get targeted, but with nothing to go on you have to find some sort of explanation.Possibly, but IME in the early rounds it doesn't take much justification to start a bandwagon (ironically Shadowmoon's post has split opinion far more than it probably would have if he'd said, say, "MtlAngelus brought the skull on board, so he's suspicious, let's throw him overboard!").

If you're referring to the Who's Online feature, then I would disagree. I consider it perfectly legit - people have the option of being Invisible if they're truly worried, but never appearing online, even when you must be online to post is suspicious in itself.

I havn't taken myself off invisibility mode yet. I wonder if that's a good thing to admit too...

This is true whether you're a human or a wendigo. After all, it's in a human's best interest to provide clear evidence to that effect.

True, but the point is because it is in both party's interests to do so to a certain extent, it makes Shadowmoon's move not as "risky" as he claims, were he a wendigo. It does not preclude him being a human certainly, but it means there is no less of a chance of him being a wendigo.

Possibly, but IME in the early rounds it doesn't take much justification to start a bandwagon (ironically Shadowmoon's post has split opinion far more than it probably would have if he'd said, say, "MtlAngelus brought the skull on board, so he's suspicious, let's throw him overboard!").

Also true to a certain extent, but in any case I think this is changing a bit. You will notice that everyone has been making these "role playing" posts, and I think this indicates people are starting to get a bit more involved.

Take yauhui's post, for instance. Can we honestly say people were going to follow him even if Shadowmoon had not made that post? Frankly I think he should be thankful, because I suspect the tide would have turned on him. Shadowmoon has split opinion, definitely. But this is better than the tidal wave that often befalls those who do what you describe. And what better a way to play a wendigo than to split everyone into fractions? (EDIT: Well, splitting everyone into fractions without making yourself a target, I suppose, but it is easy to just make a mistake. BUT ANYWAY NOT THE POINT! >.<)

EDIT @ *Splinter*: Shoo, shoo! :p

Regarding shadowmoon:

I'd be more inclined to believe he'd say this:

MtlAngelus brought the skull on board, so he's suspicious, let's throw him overboard!

Than all of this:
"Yay, everyone survived!" shouted Shadowmoon. "And i'm lynching Mtlangelus because he's a pirate! pirates just can't be trusted!"

Hopefully this'll teach the wendigos a lesson- always go on invisible mode if your a vampire/wendigo/wolf :p

If he were a wendigo.

As a wendigo/vampire/werewolf thing, you want to cause bandwagon voting against innocents without drawing too much attention too yourself and shadowmoon has played that role before. Loudly drawing upon evidence like that isn't exactly subtle.

Of course if he is human, he's placed himself in danger, as have many of us with these discussions.

What I'm thinking now is: how much credit do I give Shadowmoon.

Melon
18 Jan 2009, 16:57
Melon raised an eyebrow and stroked his chin. Thoughts raced through his mind furiously. After the pirate MtAngelus had been caught by Shadowmoon standing on the Hoozon Line he wasn't sure who to trust anymore. Of course, he still had only Shadowmoon's word to go by. Was he lying? And even if he wasn't, why would MtlAngelus be on the Hoozon Line? Was he plotting something sinister, or had he just been a victim of circumstance?

Even more worrying was GrimOswald's frenzied accusing of Shadowmoon. Were him and MtlAngelus both Wendigos, with Grim trying to save his fearsome buddy and turn the tables onto an innocent? After all, the Wendigos all have a secret pact together and know who each other are, so it's in their best interest to look after each other.

Perhaps the most important question of all was this: Will Metal Alex ever give him his money back?

Melon stood away from the ship's large wheel and looked out towards the horizon. He could see storm clouds gathering in the distance and knew a bumpy ride was ahead. He was determined to make this ride as smooth as possible, and having all the crew members argue amongst themselves certainly wouldn't help things. He finally decided that he would cast his vote onto GrimOswald, because he felt his defending of that stinkin' pirate was a bit too much to be a neutral party in this whole affair.

By using some of the stuff in your inventory, you decide to combine a now used bubble gum with the deceased Lushmoss's note.

You obtain a sticky mess!

-Paper clip x1
-Unused gum x4
-Empty bag of chips x1
-Lent money from Melon x5 Spondulucs
-Sticky mess x1

You look around you, and see Shadowmoon's report on a wall. On it, there's solid proof of MtlAngelus being suspicious. You try to stuff it on your inventory, but since you have to follow the programmed scripts, you can't. Instead, you simply try a coupe more times, and then head to the main room, where you give your vote towards MtlAngelus.

MrBunsy
18 Jan 2009, 20:32
I vote shadowmoon because that's pretty dodgy reasoning, it's likely the PM is nothing game related, and even if it is, there's a high chance of angelus being a special human - so killing him early would damage the humans (less chance of a good network forming) far more than if he were a wendigo and we killed him (we've got plenty of days yet to track them all down).

AK had not had a good day. After getting up in the morning, he slipped on SgtFusion's alcohol induced vomit - that explained where his stash of booze got to at least and then he tried finding breakfast. Nothing was left - obviously his greedy peers grabbed it all for themselves.

Then throughout the day he tried listening to his friends rambles on who should be the next one to sacrifice their lives in the name of... whatever it was. He even joined in.

Now however, he's faced with a decision. Clearly people are split into two groups on who they're voting for (except Melon, but he's a nutter) and he's not sure which position is best to take. Shadowmoon has been acting oddly, but his accusal of MtlAngelus does make sense.

Bugger.

Decisions decisions.
Shadowmoon has 3 votes, whereas MtlAngelus has 4.
Do I vote for shadowmoon and balance the votes, or do I further increase the odds against Angelus...
Perhaps I should throw my vote away, I have little evidence against either of them beyond simple suspicion and I havn't got enough to go on.

19 Jan 2009, 01:41
As evidenced by his post, Plasma has no actual reason for voting me. I am willing to believe Melon is just a human that suspects me, and certainly not without reason. But Plasma is clearly just jumping on the bandwagon in the hopes to get me off because I am calling Shadow's bluff, and what do you know, Shadow follows suit. This makes no sense as a "defending yourself" gambit, because MtlAngelus still had more votes. Unless I am now the bigger threat.

And see, if you TRULY believed MtlAngelus was a wendigo you would have stuck with voting for him, because that is far more important than going for someone who happens to disagree with you. Because see, humans spurn bandwagons too. I have no idea if MtlAngelus is a wendigo, maybe he is. But I think Shadow's reasoning is flawed, and more than that, I believe it is manufactured.

So this could go any of a few ways at this point. Also interesting is Paul.Power and Alien King, who seem happy to discuss but do not want to cast any votes.

I'm now gonna vote GrimOswald, as he's been defending Angelus when he hasn't even said his defense.

Excuse me? I am not defending MtlAngelus. I do hold there is a possibility that he is a special (Particularly Guardian Angel), but I do not really know. No, I suspect YOU. :p And I have given plenty of reasons why. And as I said before, if you really believed MtlAngelus was a wendigo you would not flip flop to the person voting for you so easily.

You are highly suspicious in my eyes, and become more so with each post you make.

(I am also curious as to what you think MtlAngelus is going to say beyond "No, I'm not a wendigo," and "I was PMing for something completely different.")

Pointing at Shadowmoon's alleged proof he said: "Hasn't yauhui said something about a lenghty installation of Photoshop CS4? Could it be that certain people were asking others for an image retouching work, who have access to the recently installed, appropriate software?"
Bonz just couldn't believe the validity of Shadowmoon's proof.
"I have to accuse you, Shadowmoon, to be a Wendigo. Your later switch to another accused person didn't help really, but looked more like clumsy escape attempt."
Having said his opinion, Bonz was about to leave when he turned around again and added: "And I also highly suspect yauhui. We should have an eye on him", before going to the railing and starting to make nausea-inducing retching sounds again.

The entire course of the day is consumed with heated speculation between just about everyone, with the circle of fire surrounding GrimOswald, Shadowmoon, and MtlAngelus (the circle of flame was happily supplied by Plasma, who waves a jug of kerosene in glee.) The verbal duelage is intense, and all combatants suffer burn wounds of some kind. In the end, the votes settle on Shadowmoon, whose fate is exile from the cruise ship on a little dingy with only a hefty supply of Marmite to sustain him. Unfortunately, he’s the kind of weirdo who hates it…

But then SgtFusion decides to make a last second vote against MtlAngelus. A hush falls over the ship: a dreaded tie has occurred between Shadowmoon and MtlAngelus!

“So… What now?” asks Metal Alex, who looks nervously at everyone in perplexment.

“I say…” announces MrBunsy, in a reverential way. “That we bring forth The Coin Of Coininess!” and yay he doth bring from dost pocket a coin of great holiness: for it was a Coin of the Fates. And so was that thine men aboard ye ship dubbed Tranquillity knew it were ye only way. Amen.

MrBunsy flips the coin into the air. It spins, and the fate of two worms spin with it. Heads, and the pirate stayed. Tails, and the artist would remain. It spins downward… It hits the floor and spins on it’s edge for a moment. Then it lands…

And Tails is visible, face up.

***

… The Tranquillity sails away from the little dot that is MtlAngelus, left in the middle of nowhere. Worse, it’s the kind of Nowhere that isn’t remotely even close to Somewhere. The flames are put out, and everyone settles down for the night, watching their backs and the doors to their rooms.

No, but Yauhui wasn't exactly suspicious, aside from a what-I-presume-to-be-a-bandwagon first post. He was actually rather out-of-the-way.

Anyway, I suspect the Wendigo's are trying to get us to lynch Melon, because he's the GA.
Yauhui voted for Melon yesterday, so I do think its possible.
Except that everybody already knows that the bad guys don't kill the one who suspects them on the very next night. So I can conclude that either:
1: Yauhui was lynched for a different reason, such as just being a random person who didn't vote for any popular choice. The most likely choice.
2: Melon is a Wendigo and is trying to play that everyone thinks a wendigo wouldn't kill someone against them straight off.
Of course, because that's a possibility, I'm also considering lynching Melon or Shadowmoon, unless anyone else can think of someone else who's suspect.

Edit: I looked back, and Melon hasn't played a match before. That means there's a strong possibility that he IS using this strategy, as if he is a Wendigo, it'd be the first time that he'd be able to. So yeah, I choose Melon, for now anyway.

"It's time for another zany whirlwind adventure Patrick!"

"I dunno Spongebob, won't people suspect we're working together?"

"Of course not my pointy friend, for we will wear cunning disguises in the form of these mustaches I just made out of colored paper!"

He froze for a moment, then turned the television off so he could think properly. He brought out a cup, saucer, teapot, teabag, some water, some milk, some sugar cubes and a stove from his pockets and proceeded to make himself a nice cup of tea. He took a sip.

"Hmm. I am fairly sure the end result is not supposed to taste like custard..."

-----------------------------------

Intriguing. Kill off yauhui then be the one to accuse the person he targeted, in this case Melon. Plasma says it himself; it is too obvious to be a trick. But in turn that makes it not obvious again. Motive Recursion and all that. Mmm. It seems fairly clear to me that Plasma and Shadowmoon are working together, and they continue to reinforce suspicions to that effect.

I notice Plasma once again edits his post when he suddenly "realizes" or "notices" something. Shadowmoon does something similar - changing his mind, revealing his "true intentions," et cetera - but in response to other people, rather than the slightly more subtle method Plasma takes. Again, hiding a trick behind its own obviousness. And their whole conversation to each other seems painfully manufactured.

I am not sure how much difference it makes which one I vote for. On the one hand, I know other people find Shadowmoon suspicious as I do, so that might be easier, but on the other hand, Plasma is in some ways more dangerous...

Plasma. EDIT: Alright, Shadowmoon instead to maximize chances of getting one of them.

Shadowmoon sat down on a chair, thinking of who to vote. Should he vote for Melon? was Plasma right? then, he remembered GrimOswalds actions from yesterday, where GrimOswald seemed desperate to put suspicion on him. Why, Exactly? could it be.... because GrimOswald wanted Shadowmoon gone immediately because..... Shadowmoon was right, and Angelus was a wendigo? yes, it most likely could be. GrimOswald was really desperate to get Shadowmoon killed, but the question was, why? Shadowmoon thought it was rather obvious. GrimOswald was a wendigo. And now, he decided to target Plasma, and then target Shadowmoon again the next day. With a human been lynched on Day 3 and Day 4, this would give the Wendigo's a bigger chance of winning, after 2 blunders- a save, and a Wendigo been killed early. So, in Shadowmoons eyes, GrimOswald was a Wendigo. So, Shadowmoon turned round, and said "i'm voting for GrimOswald."

Grim was targeting you yesterday because your reasoning was flawed. So I shall also vote for shadowmoom again today.

Your making a mistake.

I am a human. Grim is using my mistake as an advantage. Now he's targeting Plasma, tommorow, he'll target Me. This'll increase the Wendigo's chances of winning this round. Grim is talking the most this game, and Grim is controlling the most bandwagons here, too.

Grim is a wendigo, I am a human.

I know why he targeted me yesterday. But why is he so desperate to get me lynched?

And why did he defend Angelus yesterday?

And why has he now edited his post, voting for me instead?

As to the recent edits:

I know why he targeted me yesterday. But why is he so desperate to get me lynched?

Your reasoning yesterday was highly flawed, if the PM was game related there was a high chance that angelus was a special human. Yes, also a chance of a wendigo, but at the early stages of the game guarding special humans is far, far more important.

And why did he defend Angelus yesterday?

See above.

And why has he now edited his post, voting for me instead?

20 Jan 2009, 13:13
Yes, but lets say Angelus was a wendigo. The Wendigo's top target now is to increase their chances of winning.

By targeting one of us today and one of us tommorow, the Wendigo's are increasing their chances of winning, they are starting to recover from their blunders. And because Grim is trying to get me killed desperately, and now making Plasma seem suspicious too, I believe Grim is a Wendigo.

See, now you've put me in an odd situation. Because my edit in question was there as I only thought to look back to previous threads after I made the post. However, because you called it as changing my mind, that means:
1: I've now become very suspicious of you because, as far as I can tell, it should've been pretty obvious that it was a genuine edit, especially as it was made right after the post was posted.
2: I can't actually do anything about it, or it'll look like I'm over-defensive.
Or, at least that was the case until I made this metagame post explaining why I'm so suspicious. At this point I'm banking on that people don't think what you just said, about me editing my post there because I changed my mind from some other factor, was true.

Buuuuuuut...
That was also only one point. Which is never enough of a reason to lynch someone, just to suspect them. I'm watching you...!

Oh, and in case you're wondering, the reason I'm not suspecting Shadowmoon for being so defensive is because, well, being defensive is not a Wendingo-exclusive trait. I know it's suspicious, but there's not really any reason somebody would try harder to not die for whatever reason, regardless of what side they're on. It's being overly-offensive that should be raising the alarms. (Although, come to think of it, in the last match I was pathetically offensive at all because I was playing on that. So, um, yeah....)

However, I am lynching Shadowmoon because of how suddenly he tried to make it seem like Grim is a wendingo, when it should be obvious that he's lynching Shad because he suspects he's a wendingo as MrBunsy pointed out.

...
Yeah, okay, that was a lie. The real reason is because I expect he's gonna get lynched sooner or later anyway, and I wanna make it clear that I'm not on his side.

Edit (really, I just missed something!): one second

Okay, now you're suspicious too. Notably in that you say there's not enough evidence against Grim in two days, yet seem pretty convinced on Shadowmoon's first post alone.

Well, I'd be more inclined to believe you just screwed up phrasing or something, but I still felt it necessary to point it out. Besides, I'm pretty much dead next turn because I've said so much.

Which, in case you're wondering, is half because I'm going with the "save the masses, not just yourself" strategy I said I would before the game started, and half because I'm rather fed up with trying to hide out in the shadows.

AK got out of bed with a certain amount of regret. The smell of warming milk filled the corridors.
He was shocked to find yauhui, or at least his remains and entrails stuffed into milk cartons, he decided a good drink would calm him down. Shame SgtFusion stole it all... thieving *******.
Already his friends had started to argue and Shadowmoon seemed somewhat determined to bring attention to himself - very odd.

Once again, I'll observe for a while to see how things pan out.

Bonz came from his cabin and joined the other holiday-makers, who were already in a hefty discussion. He immediately saw what was causing all the fuzz: Yauhui's chopped up body had been stuffed into milk cartons! The smell of the combination of blood and sour milk was excruciating. The refrigerator was obviously broken or had been turned off quite some time ago.

Bonz raised an eyebrow.
He found it really suspicious that Shadowmoon was the first to speak up, only 1.5 hours after yauhui has been found dead and immediately started to mention it.

"Don't let Shadowmoon get away. Seize him!", he said.

You are misreading what I said, apparently, or I was not clear enough. Observe how I put "notice" and "realize" in quotes. I am saying that you intended to put the edits in all along, in an attempt to appear genuine.

While he IS defensive, that is certainly not the only reason. I find his reasoning flawed and manufactured, and he is changing his tune from post to post. Not to mention that he does not provide any base or support for many of his accusations and such (I am also not ruling out him playing on how people perceive him to a certain extent).

What I meant (and thought I'd said :P) was that Grim has done nothing that particularity singles himself out, after all it is quite hard to do so only two days in with not patterns built up, but shadowmoon has posted very flawed logic, and unfortunately people were daft enough to follow his logic (I think those people need to be watched very closely).

I don't really know whether to trust Shadowmoon or not. His rather erratic change of vote has left me with a somewhat uneasy feeling. Yes, the fact that he seemingly changed his vote from Mtlangelus (who he was almost certain was a Wendigo mind) to GrimOswald, as soon as Grim called his bluff is questionable. But strictly speaking it is neither a sign that he is Wendigo or a Human. It could just be Shadowmoon being... well, Shadowmoon. It doesn't really tell me anything.

I did suspected both Plasma and Shadowmoon until Plasma changed his vote. But as it stands now, I don't really suspect either of them anymore. No more than anyone else anyway.

I shall hold my vote for now.

This sort of arguement doesn't really work.
You're saying only a human would take that risk. I could then say: "Ah, but then it would be the perfect trick for a wendigo, so only a wendigo would really do it! Therefore, you must die".
Then someone else could say: "But if that happened, then wendigos would never do it, so only a human can do it".

The angry mob bang at the door of the toilet where Shadowmoon has locked himself inside. Unfortunately, this door happens to be made of re-inforced ultrasteel, of whose hardness makes diamands look like cookies in comparison. It looks like the artist can hold out the storm...

Then he hears Plasma's insidious laughter up above, and an odd drilling sound. Those holes in the ceiling weren't there before... and neither was there water pouring down... suddenly Shadowmoon realizes what's going on. Unfortunately, the door won't open under the sudden pressure (curse your puny arms!), and the porthole is actually just a fanciful round picture of the sea.

Eventually the glubbing stops being heard by the mob, a sure indication that Shadowmoon has drowned. However, there is no way to tell as the door is permanantly stuck. Only now do you realize the true, terrible cost of killing Shadowmoon... or just the price of filling the only toilet aboard the ship with water... bonz and SgtFusion in particular look worried at this harsh twist of circumstance.

Anyhoo, y'all go to the deck, to find that Alien King has gone missing. Searching all of the rooms (including the fridges, as per yauhui's murder) provide no answers: it's as if he'd simply left the boat all together.

It's Kelster23 who first noticed that the ship had rammed into huge fricken' iceberg. It probably happened last night, when Metal Alex had served his Sleeping Tablet Surprise for dinner (you'll never guess the secret ingrediant. Never!) But, that's just the tip of the iceberg! Two inches below the tip of the stake-like top of the iceberg is the impaled Alien King, whose body looks like the Wendigos had a good game of football (with their claws) before finishing off the poor guy.

A brief service is held for the dude before Melon backs up the ship and goes around the berg. The frozen cube that contains Lushmoss is also left on the floating island of ice, because frankly that expression was beginning to freak everyone out.

The way it would look accusingly into your souls...

22 Jan 2009, 05:59
Well. I still highly suspect Plasma, but it occurs to me there is probably a higher priority right now (Especially given the death of Alien King): getting rid of the quiet people.

See, thing is, even if they ARE human, getting rid of them still helps us. The most vital thing for the humans is maintaining a flow of information. People who do not say much and barely explain their actions heavily dam up that flow. We need to ensure that we have only talking people, as it becomes much easier to analyze motives, see patterns, et cetera. So even if they are a human, they are not helping the team. Someone might play like this for a few reasons: being a Wendigo of course is one; just not really thinking about it/being bothered; or making a conscious decision to make yourself less of a target, which is not only rather self centered, but it doesn’t work because the Wendigos will win. :p

So my vote goes to Kelster23.

Of course, when accused what does somebody do? They defend themselves. Regardless of what role they are playing, they defend themselves.
Now, as for lynching somebody because they don't talk enough doesn't seem enough. Perhaps some people have other things to do rather than to play a game on a forum?
If you're sitting here all day discussing who to lynch next perhaps you're ever-so-slightly poking and prodding the game to your advantage. And as there is no way to trust who is who, maybe these pokers and prodders aren't the best ones to be following.

Which makes sense, really, as being at either extreme is noticable and thus suspicious. I know that when I vampire'd, I scaled back on my talking a bit (though obviously not too much :p)

Lynching Kelster may not be a bad move, but we are starting to run a little short on people here (though obviously that depends on the number of Wendigos initially and the number lynched).

But yeah, okay, Kelster23. Let's see how this pans out.

Which, as I've said multiple times, is a bad way to play. Oftentimes, it can even make you a liability to your side.
I'm talking about defending yourself by naming the accuser straight off, not defending yourself with reason.

Now, as for lynching somebody because they don't talk enough doesn't seem enough. Perhaps some people have other things to do rather than to play a game on a forum?
It's not people not talking altogether that's the problem, it's people that vote yet don't give a reason for it. And if a voter doesn't have time to give a reason, then they wouldn't have time to have read up on what happened and make an educated vote either.

Quite aside from that NOT being what Shadowmoon did, this makes no sense as an argument. Everyone accuses and votes for people, so everyone is guilty of this. That is the point of the game. Not to mention that the only reason I am getting attention is because I am speaking up and "pointing fingers." >.>

Now, as for lynching somebody because they don't talk enough doesn't seem enough. Perhaps some people have other things to do rather than to play a game on a forum?

The question is then begged why those people sign up at all. :p This does not take up that much time, even if you have more than one post per lynching. And as I explained in my argument, I think it is plenty enough. Quite aside from making the game less exciting, it makes it harder for the humans to win.

Plus what Plasma said.

If you're sitting here all day discussing who to lynch next perhaps you're ever-so-slightly poking and prodding the game to your advantage. And as there is no way to trust who is who, maybe these pokers and prodders aren't the best ones to be following.

So who should we "follow" then? The people who say "Lynch them they are mighty suspicious and keep giving me funny looks?" I am just giving a reasoned explanation for why I am voting the way I am, like everyone should. Everyone else is free to analyze all the information they have and come to their own conclusions, whether they are similar to mine or not.

The "follow the leader/bandwagon" mentality is the very thing I am against, and the problem with people who barely talk.

Well, fair enough, I see your point there. It's just that I talked so much in that first game and it still didn't help us win. I guess I'm a bit dispirited, really.

As it happens, I can't talk much right now as I've got a meeting to go to, but I'll see if I can find something fun to talk about after I get back.

Well, I dunno, what? I could run down the list of who's left and see what there is to say about them:

# GrimOswald - has recently developed a policy of deciding to lynch the quiet people. Convenient, given his talkativeness. He could be trying to mastermind proceedings for the humans, or for the wendigos. No real evidence either way except for his outspokenness against Shadowmoon - but again, I don't know.
# SgtFusion - hard to read, given his drunkenness
# MrBunsy - well, voting for me seems suspicious to me, since I know I'm innocent (take that statement with a pinch of salt if you must). I also have good reason to believe that the wendigos know something about me, something that might make them decide to lynch me rather than kill me. Although that doesn't necessarily mean he is a wendigo, but y'know.

Despite voting for him a few rounds ago, I think Grim has a very good point. Wendigo or not, people who don't contribute to the discussions really aren't helping anyone. It's really difficult to try and guage whether someone is human or not if you have nothing but their bandwagon following to go by.

The current votes are pretty close between Grim and Kelster, so I might as well vote for one of them, and seeing as I agree with Grim this round, my vote goes to Kelster23.

Melon then decided to convey his thoughts in the form of a story book, but quickly realised people didn't care anyway.

The votes are somewhat spread, but the majority of them come in for Kelster23, whose covetted back-seat (a very comfy deck chair with extra pillows) had somehow and quickly become the lynch-seat.

In an act of total originality, the mob hangs Kelster23 from the chandeliers in the main dining room. There was a 3 hour chase around the ship before catching her: apparently, sitting on that seat for so long had stocked up a lot of energy in those legs. But you eventually cornered her on the shuffleboard deck, and now she sways above the table where you dined...

Yeah... you're not doing that anymore, eating in that room. Perhaps some designated lynching spots should be organized or something.

Damn you Splinter, now I'll be wondering about that for ages!

Incidentally, I'm getting worried about the lack of any Seer action. Considering I'm one of the most vocal here, I was expecting either:
1: I'd be PMed by the seer after being detected, to be let known whose innocent and not.
2: There'd be a lot more votes against me to have me killed by the people the Seer's group of innocents. I mean, if I was a wendigo.

Which leads me to conclude that either:
1: The seer is dead. Whoops!
2: The seer is fearful of forming a group because of one wendigo not being able to be detected properly. Which is bypassable, with a bit of forward planning.

SgtFusion gets up first in the morning... or, more appropriately, he'd slept throughout most of yesterday and had spent the most of tonight drinking himself a sea of alchohol. He'd finally and just decided that he prefered Wild Grouse over Guiness, although somehow he was holding a pint of Heiniken instead, so how he came to that conclusion can only be guessed at.

He wanders the ship, tooting along to himself and cheering himself on wildly. Somewhere along the way he'd found a police man's helmet, which he now wears cooly backwards on his codger. He stumbles into the captain's cabin, a room more refined than most... hey... it has a fireplace... well, that's just schweet. The good Sergeant has only eyes for grim trophey hung above though...

Literally, Grim. His severed head. Mounted. On the frickin' wall!

Well... bugger...

"Better ray-aid the gin-cart befur sh'e othersh get'ear. *Hic!*" SgtFusion tells himself in a forlorn way. And so he does. At some point he alerts everyone else to the death of GrimOswald, and when he does he tips his hard hat to his chest by a suspicously empty cart...

"Interesting."

He made his way back on deck, where the rest of the..."crew"...had gathered. From his pocket he pulled out his Speak-With-The-Living-Megaphone-Ghost-O-Matic-3000 and flicked the switch.

"Ahem. Attention my former comrades. Though I may be gone, I have valuable insights which I can still share with you to aid in your survival. You see-"

I still think that voting for me because "I've been quiet" when there's loads of people that have been far more quiet during the game is a bit suspicious. Why not vote for them instead? Metal Alex? bonz? They've said far less. Or are you voting for me for another reason?

Sure, some of my posts were saying "I might as well carry on with this bandwagon because there's been so many votes cast now that my vote won't change anything", I've still always stated when this is the case (except the first round, where everyone inevitably voted for Lushmoss because he was the GM).

If it helps with communication even further, then here's my current thoughts on everyone:

I'm not going to waste your time by saying "I'm a human" because everyone will always say that. I'll leave that judgement up to all of you.
I believe Paul when he says he's the GA. He could be lying, but the evidence seems good enough that it's true. It also leaves an interesting situation because everyone thinks he's human, so if he is why hasn't he been lynched since it came to light, although to be fair he can save himself and according to Paul has been trying to, so it makes sense that the wrendigos wouldn't go for him as it could be a wasted vote.
I've been talking about bonz because I just can't tell if he's a wendigo or not, and obviously I'm going to choose the person I doubt the most. I've got exactly the same problem with Metal Alex, because they just haven't given me any clues as to whether they're human or not. I just can't trust them. To be fair to them though, all their votes could just be simple bandwagon following so they have nothing to say on the matter each time. But saying anything would probably be better than saying nothing at all.
I think Mr. Bunsy is human too. Just got a feeling is all.
That leaves Plasma. Plasma has been pretty open the whole time, but it could be lying. Having said that, I can't tell if Plasma is a human but a bit misguided, or if he's a very cunning wendigo. This is my first game and I've probably accidentally given the wrong impression by going against the grain to vote Grim early on (who as it turns out was human, which surprised me), but I can see why Plasma has been voting for me for a few rounds. I think Plasma has been consistently voting for me because he's human and thinks I'm a wendigo. That's why, despite the fact that he keeps going for me, I'm not voting for him. It's tempting though ;) I'd rather not vote for someone who I think is human but also against me, as it wouldn't do the humans any favours by causing a war between all the humans. If he was a wendigo, would Plasma be trying to get everyone to pick on me (which is what he's been doing on previous rounds) when it would be easier to help push the votes onto the humans that everyone suspects anyway? It seems like a wasted vote in that respect, but then again I've never really played this game before and didn't read the previous ones so I could be getting everything totally wrong.

There's my incoherent ramblings for everyone's benefit. Read into it how you will.

For me, it's about the same (nobody else shows any clues of whether they're human or not) eeexcept for that there's still one clue against you, which was that Yauhui, the sole voter for you, got killed. Which, as I explained, is a good chance of being a case of "nobody expects a wendigo to do that, so let's do it".

Geezus dude, when someone's trying to lynch you, don't go and call them an it! That's one of the LAST things you should do in a case like this.

Edit: oh, Lushmoss; before, the vampires would win if they equalled the humans, even at daytime. This was because at night, it would involve a draw in the votes, making both a vampire and a human get lynched, which would in the end make the vampires win (well, unless thre were only two people left, I guess). But under the current system, ties in votes is determined by a coin flip. Does that mean the wendigoes don't automatically win if they equal the humans during the day?

I'd held off for a while to see what happens today, and I think I shall go with my initial thought which is bonz. However, bonz was being a tricky character to actually get swimming in the stuff, as he'd persistantly argued the morals of such a painful death.

"...Acid? I mean, c'mon guys: nobody wants to die a melting death..."

"...Oh man. That's just cruelty right there. We must not become the very things we seek to purge..."

"...I like cheese..."

"...Are you going to clean it up? I didn't think so... I'm the only one who even knows what a broom looks like..."

"...Queen to Kings-Bishop 3...

...And such other convincing arguements arose. But finally Metal Alex could not take it no more, having been driven insane by the ghosts that now haunted the ship. Dashing the chess game to the floor, and with a growl of "RaarAWRRrr!!!", Metal Alex leaps towards bonz with murderous intent...

...Were not for the fact that he trips over a beach ball in the dark. When had it turned to night, anyway? That bonz had droned on for so long that nobody had noticed the blanketing of the black.

The last lick of sunlight flickers away, and as it does so bonz spreads the most viscous of grins on his face. "Too late... prey!" He says... shouts... ROARS. Teeth extend, jaw elongates. Muscles explodes outward, spouting tufts of silver-white fur that flows like grass in the wind. The sound of tearing clothing, snapped senews of tendon and flesh and bone fill the air and provide a counter-tune to the unearthly screams of rage that bonz howls as his transformation closes on completion. It towers over you all. Bonz. The Final Wendigo. No longer does he adhere to the Wendigo rules of the hunt. Now... he will let his bloodlust off of it's leash.

His strength is of legend, as Plasma is the first to find out. A 5-foot long arm swings wide and catches the acid-maker on the side, sending him up through the air and into a pile of life-jackets. Hurt and dazed, but still with it. Mr Bunsy is the next in line to stand before the barbaric undead titan of old. Even with adrenalin rushing through his body Mr Bunsy is unable to evade Bonz's claw as it slams down to grab him. He yanks the dude above his head and roars in blind rage before hurling Bunsy down through the decking. His body disappears in an explosion of wood...

However, Metal Alex has been given enough time to rally himself against the Wendigo. It is his initiative, and having spent his last turn combining the gum, paperclip, potato chip grease and lent money from his inventory, Alex has created the SULPHURIC TRIPLE-BARRELLED DISASTER CANNON!!! He fires his quest-weapon at bonz, a blast of burning laser searing Bonz's flesh like a beef patty. The reward of his move is a yelp of pain and a scorched Wendigo. The penalty is an angry monster and top half of the ship being severely damaged...

The Wendigo charges his assailant, with murder in his eyes. At this moment Paul.Power makes his move, producing the ancient amulet which protected him so well. He wards Bonz away with it, knowing that the creature cannot approach it. He probably just saved Alex from a gruelsome fate. Since Bonz cannot kill them directly, he settles for ripping up the ship, rending metal and wood with ease. He seeks the others: Paul and the nearby Alex may be safe, but the hidden others would not be so lucky.

The destruction of the ship is impressive. In mere minutes the vessel is no longer sea-worthy, and begins to dip into the waters. In the centre of the carnage is the Wendigo, tearing through it's bowels with unholy might. Only one thing could match such magnifisance: MrBunsy's woolly hat, which suddenly covers the beast's head, having been yanked down by it's recovered owner. Blinded it was now, unable to removed the tight-fitting headwear.

It is then that Melon banks the remains of the ship to the right, unbalancing the blinded Wendigo and causing it to plummet to the floor. Then he reaches for a harpoon gun... Plasma, on the other hand, had found a hefty coil of chain. With massive effort he pushes the mass onto the fallen beast, and with Melon proceed to the nail the Bonz to the bulk of the sinking vessel with fired harpoons. With momentum, the Wendigo could perform legendary feats of might. But pinned as he was...

Finally, Paul.Power and Metal Alex had set the boiler to blow. In a thrilling dash the five survivors rush to the railing, a fireball tickling their toes as they leap from the edge of the Tranquillity. The explosion finally causes the ship to give up on floating all together: it sinks into the depths, dragging the creature down with it.

The five former passengers each find a decent piece of debri to bouy themselves on. The aftermath had left total destruction of the ship, but at least, now that the supernatural threat had been quelled, there could be hope.

***

"Eventually, those five souls were rescued," the dignified man informs the camera crew, taking a sip of gin just after. "Oddly enough, by the some Dingo smuggler called Franpa or something to that effect. Fortunately for me, they'd found the innert skull bobbing on a lifejacket, and so when they came to port the fellows had the good initiative to seek me out and get that money which was promised to MtlAngelus, my smuggler from the Americas." He sighs, deeply. "Alas, it was a great price for such a prize..."

A glint of evil light sparkles in his eye then. "...But most definately worth the cost."

HUMANS WIN!!! Bonz was the final Wendigo!

This has been very interesting for me to watch, I gotta say. I'd have a lot to say, but it's about 4am now and I need sleep, so I'll just sum up.

The Wendigos were:

MtlAngelus
Kelster23
bonz

Paul.Power was the GA
Super_Frea the Seer
yauhui the Priest

I GOT THE KELSTER INITIATIVE GOING YESSSS I WAS USEFUL

>.>

<.<

Seriously though, good game! Possibly one of the most interesting ones so far. And the humans won! Yay! Definitely enjoyed that game. :D

And damn it Shadowmoon was not a Wendigo. D: Sorry ol' Shad.

I still think Plasma is though.

Bonz was really quiet. :D
His posts were always of minimal length, just enough to throw suspicion initially, but evidently it got him killed in the end.
That or the seer found him and told other humans.

I love you.

And now I regret not having continued with that rpg mode gameplay :p

I was seriously not expecting Bonz to be a wendigo. Well, I was a little, after I pointed out that he wasn't posting much while the killings were bad choices.
I'm also really surprised that Bunsy wasn't.
But still, kick-assery! And looks like I was right about Shadowmoon too!

Seriously though, wendigoes; what the hell? MtlAngelus wasn't to blame, he got unlucky. Kelster got lynched because she was awful at giving reasons. But Bonz, geez, I mean you practically killed the most suspicious people, not the least! And despite having a teammate killed for not piping up, you still stay quiet!

Oh yeah, and sorry about the whole "I'm gonna kill ya!" thing Melon. No hard feelings, eh? I'm just doing my job.

I still think Plasma is though.
I probably will be in the movie adaption's sequel.

I knew Kelster was a vampire. 5 minutes before I caught Angelus PM'ing in my screenshot, I caught both of them were PM'ing at the same time, and then I caught Angelus PM'ing again after Kelster sent a PM.

That was why I was so sure that Angelus was a vampire.

However, I understand why you couldn't take the risk, I could have been a Wendigo who could have got rid of your GA and you wanted me killed just incase that was true.

I was so convinced GrimOswald was a vampire, and was shocked when I found out he wasn't, which was when he called out Kelster for her quietness in the game.

Great game though, GrimOswald was a very good player, as were the rest of you.

And this is the first game where Plasma hasn't been a special :p

Very good game!

I knew after the first save that Paul.Power was the GA, but I thought it would be useless trying to kill him during the first few nights since it's most likely that he'd protected himself due to lack of knowledge.
I should have tried to kill him later on though.

What I learned this round:
Overly trying to protect someone by blatantly voting against that person's accuser will get you killed, regardless if you're a human or a werevolf/vampire/wendigo.

Yeah that's fairly... dumb.

Oh and in case anybody didn't notice, Metal Alex has a 6th game running now: http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=38094

The fun thing is that Kelster didn't PM me until pretty much after everyone had already casted their votes. So she was probably PMing someone else.
edit: ah, forgot that it displays the same message even if you are only reading your pm's...

In any case, I think using the "Who's Online" feature to spy on who's PMing during the game should be considered as cheating. It's quite unfair, even if people cannot prove it I think it's clear it does have a weight on the result of the voting, with most people going with "well he's the only one who has anything against him so I vote him".

That's why in the original party game, the townspeople are supposed to close their eyes during the night, spying on who's online would equate to peeking on nighttime...

I say it should be the same as PMs - they can be viewed for yourself at any time, but you're not allowed to tell people about whose viewing PMs and doing what and such. Same goes for invisible mode.

GrimOswald

Or everyone that needs to goes invisible when posting a PM only?

I'm still torn as to whether or not it's a valid technique, but invisible mode would certainly stop it anyway.

Must admit I was rather surprised we managed to so effectively lynch all the wendigos without any form of human network!

Hmm.

This was the 5th game we played, and humans won 4 times.
It's really hard for the evil side to win actually, because in the forum version the humans too have the ability to communicate secretly. In the original party game only the werewolves can do so.

I'd like to see the
Another reason to throw in the Godfather/Cunning role.
