I would like to suggest after seing how many old games from the golden ages of Computer are showing up here and there (Virtual Console on Wii, XBox Live Arcade etc) that "non-Worms games" from "Team 17" make it on steam (maybe as a bundle of some kind, that's just an idea).

I am talking about the top view shooter that is the Alien Breed Series or The Lemmings...
I would be definitly interrested, am I the only one ?

I am basing my assumption on seeing the ID Software Super Pack on Steam (also available separatly) that includes "Commander Keen" (http://store.steampowered.com/app/9180/) all 3 episodes.

I know they got some pricing issues right now at Steam, as some europeans countries have VAT and some other don't, but in principles I think that would be a good thing.
Especially after reading posts about the comming up Alien Breed title, if that's not a vaporware.

Team17 don't have the IP to Lemmings, Sony has. They just got T17 to develop Lemmings for PSP/PS2/PS3.

The copyright for Lemmings is hold by Sony since they bought up Psygnosis.

All Amiga games made by T17 are freely available as full versions from www.dream17.co.uk and can be played with an Amiga emulator.

Ah, yes.
Team17 gave permission to Dream17 to host all their Amiga games.

WinUAE is free as well, so all you'd need to legally obtain are the ROM files either dumped from an original Amiga machine that you own or bought from an official reseller like "Amiga Forever (http://www.amigaforever.com/)" from Cloanto.

Yup that's all true and thanks for the precision regarding lemmings and Cmdr Keen.

But here is what i was thinking :

if i didn't know Alien Breed at all, i would not bother with an emulator for it or anything which can be considered difficult for most people, that would be unfair regarding the quality of the game even to today's standard (a DS version would be awesome i believe too).

While having it on Steam is the same thing as an XboxLive Arcade or Virtual Console (Wii), good exposure and easy to use while at the same time avoiding all kind of piracy which seems to be the problem with the PC Scene.

I would like to hear your opinions on that issue...

Ehh... you also need to account for that Commander Keen is a far more famous series than Alien Breed. The small number of sales T17 would be able to make is unlikely to be worth the cost of porting it to PC.

The most likely way it would be ported is as bonus content in the upcoming Alien Breed game. But that's still very unlikely; the last game I remember that did that was Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.
