Next Thread 6 (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=38094) (Metal Alex)

If you have not played before, feel free to check out the previous threads to see how it works and plays out, but the rules shall be put here anyway. Because I FEEL like it, that is why.

The premise is that you have a bunch of humans, a number of which have been infected by VAMPIRES! This is Not Good with capital letters. The humans decide the only possible solution is to lynch (Execute) people they suspect one at a time until all the vampires are dead. The vampires all know who their fellow vampires are, but the humans can be sure of nothing outside their own role.

During the Day, the players discuss things and vote for who they want to be lynched by putting their name in bold. The player with the most votes is executed, and can no longer influence the game. Their role remains secret to the public.

After the lynching, the Night begins. The Vampires discuss amongst themselves who they want to kill, then one of them sends me a PM with that person's name in bold when they have decided. At the start of the following Day I will post who was killed. Also, the Seer sends me a PM with the name of a player in bold who they want to learn the true identity of. I will send them a PM back at the start of the next Day telling them what role that player is. The Guardian Angel also sends me a PM with the name of a player in bold who they want to protect (They can choose themselves if they so wish), and if the Vampires have also chosen that same player to kill, they will be SAVED and will not die (It will be revealed at the start of the next Day that someone was saved, but not who). Finally, at the start of the next Day I will PM the Priest telling them the count of special roles still remaining.

Remember, anyone can claim whatever they wish, both in public and in private, so be careful who you trust! (No forwarding/quoting PMs from myself though).

There is 24 hours allotted for each Day and each Night, but if I receive the necessary votes/PMs before then I will start the next Night/Day earlier, so if you know what you are doing do not hesitate to say so. :) Updates tend to happen between 2400 to 0500 GMT though.

DEAD. MEN. DO. NOT. TELL. TALES. If you have something to say, say it BEFORE you die. Once you are dead you are not supposed to be able to influence the game (ESPECIALLY revealing/hinting what role you were). You can have some Famous Last Words or such, and idly chit chat afterwords if you so wish, but no game talk! It is only meant to be a little in character fun. Honest, how many times must this be said????

(Additionally, people who have not even signed-up and are not a part of the game should not be making any game influencing talk/observations either. You can still post of course, but if you wanted to affect the game you should have joined it. <.<)

Role-playing is encouraged (That is to say, Lushmoss can continue to be crazy :p).

If you have signed up, do please try and be active enough (It does not take THAT much time after all :p). Obviously other things come first, and it is cool if you miss a vote or such because something came up, but if you are gonna play, then play. >.>

And a *REMINDER* to make sure that your PM inboxes have enough room to receive PMs!

So yeah, if you wanna play just say so, and once we have enough/no more are going to join then we can begin (People who posted in the previous thread need to post in this one too if they want to play). If you have any suggestions or questions do not hesitate to ask. :)

Sooo...how do you decide who are the vampires and such?

Basically, once sign-ups are closed, I write a list like so (Depending on the number of Vampires of course):

Vampire
Guardian Angel
Vampire
Seer
Vampire
Priest
Vampire

Then I roll a 20-sided die for each one and see which player it corresponds with (They are in alphabetical order) and assign that role to them. The first time I actually did this with the Humans included in the list, until I realized what a clod I was being. :p

Also can you make it a rule that as well as people who have being kicked out of the game, people who haven't even signed up for the game must not influence the game while its on? Splinter could have destroyed our chances of winning in the previous game, which wouldn't have being fair.

Although evidently nobody took him seriously, it is a fair point anyway. I will add that to the main post.

You're thinking of The Omega Man, I presume? I think that was more of a zombie-survival situation more than him hunting the cultist/mutants that plagued him. But they didn't like the light much though, so that was when he scavenged for food and stuff.

I've only ever experienced the film version of the Omega Man, though, and that was a while ago...

Oh, heheh. I just wiki-ed it. The Omega Man is based on the book "I am legend." In the book, it's not mutants or zombies but vampires that haunt him... same basic plot in all of them though.

I don't know where I'm going with this. I'll just stop talking now.

Funny you mention this actually. My original idea was to have the Vampires of Braunahawk (Formerly Eversmile) decide there is no reason they cannot get along now they are ALL Vampires, and they become the Happyfolk again. And then they get invaded by WereDINGOS. But I want a different setting from a village for once, so no go. :p

What are the boundaries of role hinting? What if we said something that we thought didn't mean anything but other players think it reveals our roles?

Road trips! Everybody loves a good road trip, right? The sun is shining, the wind blowing through your hair…just you and your mates, seeking fun and adventure. You are having the time of your lives…wait, did franpa remember to fill up on petrol before you left?

Chugga chugga brap brap WHEEZE.

The cars slowly grinded to a halt and refused to budge, like a stubborn mule that was so stubborn it needed the prefix of stubborn no matter how redundant it seemed.
“Goddamnit franpa, this is all your fault!” exclaimed super_frea in a voice that strongly implied violence may be somewhere on the horizon.
“Hey, it’s not MY fault if I forgot to put petrol in MY car!”
“YES IT IS!”
“Guys, guys, calm down,” said MrBunsy, ever the voice of reason. “Arguing will get us nowhere.”
“It’ll get ME the bitter satisfaction of crushing him,” super_frea muttered under his breath.
“What about the other car?” asked yauhui. “How come THAT one ran out of petrol too?”
“Good question!” said bonz. “Clearly, the driver and owner of the car would have to be similar to franpa intelligence wise-“
“IT’S NOT MY FAULT GUYS OK!” they heard Plasma shouting from the other car. There was a sound of baseball bats hitting a hollow surface.
“See, THAT car has the right idea,” said super_frea. “Why can’t I be in that one?”
“Oh shush,” said MrBunsy. “Let’s get out of here and see where we are.”
One by one, the group made their way out of the cars. Some of them had brought torches and were shining them around. Because it was in fact nighttime, contrary to what I said about the sun shining before. Yes, I lied to you. I am deeply sorry.
“Well, this is sure revealing,” said Alien King, glancing around. “We’re in the middle of nowhere.”
“Which looks remarkably similar to Australia,” Kelster23 remarked.
“Wait…does that mean there might be DINGOS around here?”
“AHHHH DINGOS FLASHBACK TO A PREVIOUS LIFE!”
MtlAngelus slapped franpa and Lushmoss. “SILENCE!”
Metal Alex pointed into the distance. “Lights.”
The group turned to the where the finger was pointing. Sure enough, lights could be seen in the distance.
“Lights! Civilization! We’re saved!” said Shadowmoon.
“We have to get there first,” said SgtFusion. Shadowmoon’s expression was blank.
“Which requires walking.” Still blank.
“Which requires moving your legs.” STILL blank.
“Which requires EFFORT.”
“AWWW MAN!” he wailed.

An hour or so later of trudging through the barren landscape – interspersed with several members of the group stopping to ask “Are we there yet?” – and they reached the source of the extremely colorful lights.
“Wow, this isn’t contrived at all,” said Paul.Power. “A FAIR right in the middle of absolutely NOWHERE.”
“Looks more like a carnival to me,” said Alien King.
“Aren’t they the same thing?” said Shadowmoon.
“I don’t care what YOU guys wanna call it, I call it a barrel o’ fun!” said MtlAngelus, who proceeded to skip – yes, SKIP – inside.
“Hmm, let’s have a look around and see if anyone is here,” said bonz. There was a general murmur of agreement from the group, which followed after MtlAngelus.
It turned out to be a fairly fruitless endeavor however, as there was no one around anywhere. Not even someone on the night shift. This may have been partly due to previously mentioned nowhere and the state of being in the middle of it. It WAS a pretty good fair though. There was a giant Ferris Wheel, and a scary tunnel, and a roller coaster, and a merry-go-round, and a hall of mirrors, and lots of games and stalls and prizes and candy floss all that jazz.
“Hmm. Well this sure sucks,” said SgtFusion.
“Arr, it be pretty grand if ye ask me!”
SgtFusion turned to see MtlAngelus standing behind him. Dressed as a pirate.
“Where did you get that costume?” he asked.
“Arrr, one of the games had a pirate theme, complete with costume! There was also candy floss.”
“OK…so WHY are you dressed as a pirate?”
“I think the real question here is why YOU arrrren’t, matey!” he said, never faltering from his extremely bad impression of a pirate voice. SgtFusion decided it was best not to press the matter and let the insanity pass on to someone else.
“SWEET PIRATE COSTUME!” exclaimed super_frea. “HIGH FIVE!”
Sigh.
“Alright guys,” said Paul.Power, “I guess since there is no one around we can sleep here for the night, then figure out what to do in the morning, maybe see if there is a phone around here or something.”
“Wait, you mean not ONE of us brought a cell phone?” asked Kelster23.
“Hmm, that’s a good point. I could have swor-“ Realization set in. “GODDAMNIT FRANPA AND PLASMA!”
They pointed at each other. “IT WAS HIM!”

Morning came. The sun really WAS shining this time. However, the group had not woken up by their own accord, but rather due to a loud, high pitched static sound.
“Ugh, where is that COMING from?” asked MrBunsy angrily, wiping the sleep from his eyes.
“Megaphones,” said Metal Alex, pointing to some…megaphones, which were attached to some tall poles, naturally far out of reach. Slowly, the static started to break away, and a voice could be heard.
“Hello, HELLO? Testing testing 1 2 3…is this thing on?” said the voice. There was a tapping sound, presumably that of someone with very little patience trying to get a microphone working. There were a few more bursts of static, then it became clear, but for a faint crackling sound.
“Ahh, there we go,” said the voice. “Good morning, ladies and gentlemen!” This was followed by something between a laugh and a giggle, which, coming from someone who sounded like a hyperactive maniacal deranged clown, was not pleasant.
“Welcome…to my carnival of DOOM!” he laughed hysterically. “Turns out I don’t much LIKE intruders on my…PREMISES. So wouldn’t you know, while you slept, I BIT a number of your groups’ juicy necks.”
“Eww, that’s just disgusting,” said yauhui.
“Why yes, yes it is, what an ASTUTE observation,” said the voice, never faltering in its hysterically cheerful tone. “But more than that, my friend, I fear I may have spread my…oh, what do you call it? Ah yes: VAMPIRISM!”
“Screw this!” said one of the group, who remained conveniently unnamed, and dashed out of the fair. This was followed by blood curdling screams, and the sound of flesh being ripped from a body.
“Ahhh, DINGOS!” said the voice happily. “Nature’s natural eliminator of the weak and foolish. I hear Darwin was fond of them.”
“AHHHHH DINGOS FLASHBACK TO A PREVIOUS LIFE!”
MtlAngelus slapped franpa and Lushmoss. “SILENCE!”
“So yes, I am afraid there is no RUNNING from my carnival. Any stupid enough to try again will meet the same fate as him. And I think we can all agree we don’t want THAT!” He giggled again.
“But don’t worry, I’m not going to kill you straight away. That would hardly be SPORTING now, would it! Indeed, that is why I am telling you all this in the first place! No, since we are at a carnival, we are going to play a little GAME of mine. You all like GAMES, right? Of course you do! EVERYONE LOVES GAMES! YEAHAHEHAEHAHYEYAHHAIEAHIAH!”
He cleared his throat. “Ahem. Anyway, each night those that have become vampires will kill one of your group, until you are all dead! But if you can kill them FIRST, then those of you that have survived will be allowed to escape from my beautiful home, having won my GAME! I swear this is true on my own life! After all, there would be no FUN if there was no CHANCE!” The hysteria started rising in his voice again.
“Of course, you have no idea who the vampires ARE, or indeed just how many of you I have…INFECTED. Yes, infected. Like a DISEASE. Ahahahaha! But I am sure you can figure it out if you just use your head. Or maybe I overestimate you. Ahaha!”
The static sound started rising again. “I fear my time is up, so I must bid you all a fond farewell! There is only one thing left to say in any case…LET THE GAMES BEGIN! YAEYHEYAHAHAHEHAHAHAIAHEHYAHAHA!...”
The laugh was slowly drowned out by the static, rising in volume, and soon it could not be heard at all. The static sound grew and grew, until it felt like their ears were about to bleed. And then it stopped. Silence.
Everyone looked at each other, the suspicion showing in their eyes. Friendships meant nothing now. No one could be trusted.

Let the games begin, indeed.

Day 1 has begun! Again, you can choose to have me lynched on the first day if you wish. :(

The son to the Earl of Mossington was a mite peeved at this sudden shifting of circumstances. One moment, it seemed as if this awful road-trip organized by this disorganized rabble of unwashed hooligans had been blessfully sidetracked to something better: a delightful visit to the fair! But even this gladdening news would not make The Son to the Earl of Mossington Manor drop his dignified facade: only his irrational fear of those dreadful Dingos could force such a lapse in face. So, as he trotted in the only sign of excitement shown was a slight intensified rattle to his teacup and saucer.

But now the whole event was turning into a bigger disaster than previously anticipated. Vampires! Indeed! And it seemed that death might be at the doorstep at any moment. How inconveniant...

With a slight shift of the eyes, and a kurt sip of his Earl Grey, the worm formulates a cunning plan. "I do say, this is a conumdrum we've landed ourselves in. However, I have a plan: my years at St Andrew's asylum for the Disturbingly Rich have taught me that in such situations, it is best to apply a gentle, which is to say, harsh, solution to a problem faced. Let us vote each day on who must be a vampire, deduced by means of deduction. Then, we kill them. Capital plan, if I don't say so myself."

The worm adjusts his monacle, then takes another sip of his tea. "And, of course, we should start immediately. With that unshaven Grim Oswald over there. Let us face it: we could not stand his collection of 80s music for more than an hour anyway."

"*Pffshcht!* Yech! I forgot that I hate coffee. Especially cold coffee. That sounds like a good plan, Mr. Moss. However, if anybody is going to deduce anything by means of deduction, it should be me. I'm sure nobody else has spent as many hours reading Sherlock Holmes as I have. The only good thing is, that we now know for sure that this is a carnival and not a fair."

Contemplating for several moments, bonz confirmed:
"That megaphone voice indeed sounded a lot like GrimOswald. We should take no risk."
Bonz pointed to the carnival's entrance.
"Let's drag him outside, tie him to a pole and let the dingos lacerate him!", he concluded.

The road trippers gathered around near the Merry-Go-Round for the first lynching. They had agreed to the idea all too readily when it had been suggested, but now that the time had come they were somewhat...apprehensive. There were a few stray votes here and there, but there was a general consensus that GrimOswald sounded like a hyperactive maniacal deranged clown. He hastily tried to point out how he had been standing RIGHT THERE WITH HIS UNMOVING MOUTH when the voice on the microphone had been talking, but his cries of logic went unheard. As per bonz's suggestion, they dragged him just outside the border, tied him to a pole, and left him there begging for mercy.

Clearly, bonz was an animal lover, for the dingos were well fed that day.

The road trippers woke to the common sounds of the carnival (Do not ask me what those sounds ARE, but they are common). They tried to convince themselves that perhaps it had all been a bluff - that GrimOswald had been the only one. But they knew it was not so. It appeared bonz had not gotten any sleep and was STILL drinking rum, and as such wobbled all over the place, threw up many times, bumped into people, and proclaimed his love for everyone. And then he fell unconscious, much to everyone's relief.

They went down to the candy floss stall, as there were not many other sources of food around. Nobody was complaining, but somehow after a few days of a candy floss only diet I suspect such may no longer be the case (I can predict things like that, see. In a few days all I have to do is write how they are sick of candy floss. Win-win!). They noticed as they were biting into the delicious floss of the candy variety that something was odd about it. The texture seemed quite unusual. One of them bit a hole through theirs and screamed, as the decapitated head of MrBunsy was revealed inside, still wearing that precise expression of annoyance used by those who are the first to be killed.

And then they kept eating the candy floss. Mmm.

Night 1 is over. MrBunsy has been killed.

Day 2 has arrived!

ARR YAY. Wasn't lynched last night. I was waiting to see some sort of pattern in the lynchings but MrBunsy's was unpredictable.

It was just.. pop! out of nowhere. :p being a Seer was better. I could see what lies ahead. But being GA? Dang, chances of missing is high unless I team up with the Seer. Or the Priest who knows the Seer.

And of course, it was a plan to tell everyone I'm a GA so that those who votes to lynch me are obvious. And in this case, Plasma.

I'm suspecting Paul and Metal Alex too, but they aren't as big a threat as Plasma. So lynch him.

He needed a moment alone, quiet, to think. A person was going to die that day. A person who could be innocent...
Sure, he was a pirate. He had murdered innocent people before, pillaged villages, sunken ships with all of their crew on board... But never in his whole life had he betrayed a friend before.

He pondered for a second if it was all worth it...

There had to be another way...

The appearance of Mr. Bunsy's head in the candy floss machine had a profound affect on the Son to the Earl of Mossington Manor. One of his eyebrows had arched a full inch higher than normally. The kind of expression that any Vulcan would envy, brow-wise.

It had quite put him off of his morning tea.

When he rejoined the others, he noticed that some sort of quarrel had arisen over some matter that he had not been clued into before. All this talk of notes being passed privately... it sounded like his days back at Boreding School... how terribly dreary...

Yauhui seemed to be taking a sound thrashing, so before the poor fellow was inevitibly quartered the SttEoMM was determined to say his piece: "I have thought over the matter thoughroughly, and I believe that Mr Bunsy's head was inconventiantly misplaced from his body because he had a microbe more of braincell than most of us. This may mean that these dreadful vampires are popping off who seem to be the most intelligent and vocal of us. I, of course, fear for my life." he said, brushing off the dust on his fine vest with a hankerchef non-chalantly. "Although I commend him on his forthright action, Yauhui's plan has gone downhill. Much like Jack and Jill. Ah ha. Ah ha. But I don't think he is neccessarily a vampire, as surely, would not another of his kin disuade him from taking such a risky and conspirital course of action? Then this would also mean that he is, indeed, this Guardian Angel person that seems to be able to protect us somehow... and by no means might Plasma be a vampire either, as a human would just as quickly expose a potential vampire."

Shaking his head in mild way, the SotEoMM replaces his cloth in his pocket. "Alas, with no more leads to go on I must vote for Yauhui, as he is the most suspicious of the lot. I suggest we find a lion to interogate the poor fellow and find out if he speaks the truth or not."

Sorry for the delay guys. Here we go:

Lynch time again. The road trippers came to a decision fairly quickly that yauhui had to go, not only because he was suspicious, but because he was jumping and bouncing everywhere waving his hands in the air and screaming in peoples' faces. Clearly, even if he was not a vampire they were doing him a great service. Plus he probably had rabies or something. Eww.

They took him to the huge roller coaster and made him sit down. One of them "forgot" to put the seat belt on, and they started the machine. It slowly made its way up to the top of the slope, then rushed down at an amazing speed. It then made a ramp motion and it flung yauhui far away in an incredible burst of power. Suffice to say, someone in China got an unpleasant surprise.

"Ooh, ooh, me next, me next!" said franpa excitedly.

Day 2 is over. yauhui has been lynched.

"Congrats everybody, you have just lost yourselves a livesaver. Now no one will be safe from vampires at night, trust me. Just watch and see. And wimper over your foolish selves for believing a vampire - the dark, cold, merciless demons who have done away with an important person."

The villagers were shocked when they saw this unneatly scribbled with blood on the roller coaster. They began to think about it - think about what a horrible mistake they have done - until they heard an evil, sadistic laugh from within the crowd. However when everyone turned to glare at the silence breaker, no one was to be seen. The horizon was clearly visible, with the orange sky fading away and blackness slowly enveloping the village.

26 Dec 2008, 09:28
Angelus was, however, not aware of having made any mistake because he had not even been present at the rollercoaster. Morning had come to the carnival again. Were these different times, that sentence would have been taken with joy. But the road trippers treated it with dread, knowing that another of their own had no doubt been killed in a horrific fashion. One by one, they awoke and went about their day. While taking a morning stroll, Metal Alex found a newspaper lying on the ground and read the headline. Apparently, this year was bringing the greatest pillow truck shortage in recorded history.

*Facepalm*

Meanwhile, bonz slowly stumbled his way down the steps to the cellar behind the back of one of the buildings. For a moment, he stopped to worry about who had been killed last night. It was at this point he realized how frighteningly sober he was, and sped up his descent. But nothing could prepare him for the horrific scene he encountered at the bottom.

The booze was gone.

All of it. Not a single trickle could be seen. bonz dropped to his knees in despair, and noticed some writing scrawled on the wall in crayon. It read:

"Come now my friends...we want this to be SPORTING, remember. How can you be expected to make sensible decisions with distractions such as this? Ahaha. Then again, a carnival is filled with such "diversions"...perhaps next time, we shall smash down the Ferris Wheel. Ahaha.

Oh, and speaking of which, might not want to go up there."

Morosely, bonz made his way back to the rest of the road trippers to deliver the bad news. There were tears. Many people fainted. MtlAngelus quietly sang a sad pirate ballad.

"Erm, guys," called Shadowmoon from the top of the unmoving Ferris Wheel. "I'm not dead yet...can someone come and help me?" But nobody heard him. At least, he hoped it was that.

Night 2 is over. The booze has been lost. :( Oh, and Shadowmoon has been "killed."

"It is my opinion," he started, the handle of the umbrella sent twirling in his hand. "That this bonz fellow is a mite too suspicous for my liking, wishing for us to string up Plasma right after Franpa. His booze drinking keeps me unnerved as well: Up he goes then, I say. Up-up!" Right, sorry about the delay. Forgot about this to be honest. :p But I am here now!

Another day of carnival fun had been and gone, though it had strangely felt a lot longer than usual. One by one the road trippers deserted the amusements and gathered together in the centre, the time for fun and games over. Lynching time had come again.

After some amount of debate, they came to the decision to lynch franpa. Because let's face it, nobody needs an excuse for THAT. They tried to think of some amusing way to execute him relating to one of the rides, but decided it was too much bother and shoved him into the middle part where the animals are moving of the carousel, where he was swiftly impaled by a unicorn. Which turned out to be fairly entertaining anyway, as there was much blood and many screams of pain.

"Roll up! Roll up! Get a ball in the hole and win a prize!"

On another of his morning strolls, Metal Alex heard this sound playing from one of the nearby stalls and, disregarding the unfortunate innuendo, decided to give it a go. With no one left to manage the game, he figured it must be actually possible to win now, and started lobbing balls. Also unfortunately, it turned out the owner of the stall had foreseen such an event and had rigged it in advance. He was probably having the last laugh wherever he was. Metal Alex told himself this over and over and averted his eyes from the skeleton shaped pile on the ground of the stall.

In any case, he soon grew bored of this exercise in futility and jumped over the counter into the stall, where he proceeded to force feed one of the balls into the hole. The epic battle of Metal Alex versus Hole went on for many minutes, with neither side uttering a single word. But with the power of love, friendship, and a ball that was now decidedly un-ball shaped, he finally succeeded. A fanfare sound effect played, which only lasted three seconds and was on infinite loop. He hastily looked at the prizes on the shelf and tried to decide whether to take the pirate sword or the pirate hat. Pirate sword, pirate hat, pirate sword, pirate hat...

Wait a minute...

He looked at the other prizes. Pirate clothes. Pirate peg leg. Pirate eye patch. Pirate parrot, which was in fact the thing making all the sounds. Said parrot begin to give a parroty laugh. "Who's a pretty boy then? SQWAWK!" it called. "That's what you get for stealing from the games. SQWAWK!" The parrot burped, and an eyeball from MtlAngelus came out and rolled onto the ground.

Metal Alex looked at the skeleton again. Devoured completely by a parrot...what a way to go.

Bonz, although now gotten rid of his only real competitor for the booze, was quite concerned about the the recent loss of a once brave, seafaring fellow human (although on criminal side).
"Let's lynch Plasma!", he said, "We can always lynch Kelster later."

Ah, but drunk on what? We already know the booze was destroyed, and the only other source of alcohol around was.... MtlAngelus's blood!

A teleporter portal opened up. Little did the team know, but Paul.Power had rigged up a teleporter that allowed one person - and one person only - to go to Manchester and back. However, he had already used it, and this was him returning now, and the thing would never work again because of quantum, so no-one else could escape from the carnival.

When quizzed as to why he'd even come back to the carnival at all, Paul said "What? Oh, you've got to play fair, old chap. If I left permanently, it'd be one less chance to stop the vampires from killing us all. Which reminds me, I'm supposed to be lynching someone you say? Err... Bonz.

Right, sorry I have not updated in so long. A lot of it has admittedly been waiting for votes, but it is clear some just are not going to come. :p So the time has come to end the day.

Unfortunately, this is made slightly tricky by the fact that it is a tie. I thought about bringing back phantom votes, but Plasma and bonz do not HAVE any. Therefore, I came up with what I believe to be a suitable compromise.

The road trippers gathered around for another lynching. Although everyone had been feeling better since franpa had been lynched, things were still getting tense. An argument had broken out over whether to lynch bonz or Plasma, with neither side willing to budge. It soon became clear there was only one way to settle this.

"I propose we put each of them into the Hall of Mirrors," proposed Lushmoss. "Clearly, as vampires, the one (Or both! Or even neither!) that has no reflection is guilty!"

"Yeah, why didn't we think of that before?" said Kelster23.

"Because you are all complete-" began Paul.Power, who had inconspicuously integrated himself back into the crowd, and if asked, had never even HEARD of Manchester.

"ANYWAY! To the mirror mobile!"

They made their way to the Hall of Mirrors. Plasma and bonz turned to each other and nodded, as if to say "Good luck." They tentatively walked inside. The rest of the group was about to follow, when the entire building suddenly collapsed without warning anticlimactically, mirrors and all.

Everyone rushed to the wreckage and pulled out the broken bodies of bonz and Plasma. They soon concluded that they were, in fact, dead.

"Wait, we can still use mirror shards or something else entirely to cast a reflection!" said Lushmoss. But everyone had already began walking away. These vampires were probably different anyway, and honestly, nobody could be bothered.

Day 4 is over. bonz and Plasma have been lynched.

Night 4 has begun! PMs from all you people who work at night please. :)

EDIT: And we are TOTALLY back to regular updates now, no matter what. Honest. :p

Although this was technically before the day began, given that she posted afterwords in the thread it seemed pretty obvious to me that she thought it counted, so I counted it. I really should have clarified that though, my bad.

How about, for all practical purposes you are dead, but you can haunt around as a ghost and can still talk about whatever you wish? That is really all I can do without changing the result of the lynching, and if I did that I would really have to reset the day entirely out of fairness.

Next game, I'd really advise you have a schedule, whereby day turns to night turns to day at a specific time, rather than whenever you decide the sun should move.

I DID have a schedule, as we can clearly see from the previous game and beginning of this one. Unfortunately the game coincided with all the holidays and the New Year and all that, so I ended up having to wait a long time for votes/PMs, and in turn this threw ME out of the loop. D: Seriously, did you see how long it took votes to come in for Day 4? I was not going to end it with like one or two votes.

I had to update sometime, and it happened to end up badly for you (And bonz for that matter). I can assure you there is no malice here, as I am impartial and unbiased being the game master and all. :p

The first rays of sunlight beamed their way into the carnival...

...And straight into the eyes of SgtFusion.

"Ugghhh..." he moaned, and slowly got to his feet. At least he was alive, he thought to himself. No one else was awake, so he figured now would be the perfect time to put his amazing detective skills to use and find out who had been killed during the night.

But where to look...hmm...

He started to wander around the fairground, looking for any suspicious signs. And soon, he stumbled across what appeared to be a hole in the ground. Clearly, this had been dug recently. Armed with a trusty flashlight, he decided to investigate. He crawled down the tunnel and soon found a note on the ground.

"Five minutes in. No sign of freedom so far. Fortunately, the earth around here is soft, and with the help of this high tech digging machine I carry about my person at all times, I am making relatively quick progress. The tunnel so far appears to be stable."

He crawled further along, and found another note.

"Fifteen minutes in. Took a break to eat a sandwich. In hindsight, making more than one may have been a good idea. Still no sign of freedom, but still making steady progress."

He kept on crawling down the tunnel, finding more and more notes.

"Thirty minutes in. Man, I really wish I still had that sandwich. I can still hear the carnival sounds above me, so I must keep going. I can only make my way to the surface when I am sure to be well clear of the border...otherwise..."

"One hour in. I am starting to hear sounds in the distance behind me. Coincidentally, I also started having flashbacks to a previous life. I have made an effort to increase my digging speed."

"One hour and a half in. Stopping to write these notes every so often is biting into my digging time. The sounds behind me are closing in. I fear I may be running out of time."

"Two hours in. I am convinced the dingos are now toying with me. Making me believe I have a chance. They could catch me at any point if they wanted. I can hear them taunting me...laughing...it's almost too much for me to take. I did not want to resort to this, but I fear I must activate the "Extreme" mode on my digging machine. I have no idea if I will survive the effects, but I have no other options."

"Two hours and five minutes in. I now have a surfboard with flame designs and a spiky haircut. NOT FUNNY!"

Then he reached the end of the tunnel, where there were two notes - one of which looked very hastily scribbled - a lot of blood, and the mauled and maimed corpse of Lushmoss. He read the notes, then scrambled his way back to the surface as fast as he possibly could.

"Two hours and ten minutes in. The dingos are right behind me. I have very little time. They can smell my fear, and it urges them on. I have no choice but to take a last stand against these foul monsters. I have faith that if it was meant to be, my surfboard will fend them off. Clearly I have the advantage, as the tunnel is narrow and they can only attack me one at a time."

"THE PAIN IS EXCRUCIATING ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!"

Night 4 is over. Lushmoss has been killed.

Day 5 has begun!

"Wasn't it a carnival before?", said a crackling voice full of static coming from the speaker system, which strangly reminded the remaining roadtrippers of their deceased fellow Bonz.
Can ghosts really use their spirutual, plasmatic energy to induce modulated waves in the conductors of a loudspeaker?
A question that should really be investigated by a physicist (or a parapsychologist) in the non-vampire-infested surrounding of a laboratory (or a fortune-teller's tent).

During the day, dark clouds had begun to appear over the carnival. It had started to rain. Softly, at first, but grew as the hours went by. By the time the remaining road trippers gathered near the Merry-Go-Round to vote on who the lynch next, it had become a huge storm the likes of which they had never seen. The thunder rumbled ominously. Lightning flashes could be seen, not so far away. There was a huge and chilling wind. And the rain. The rain, pounding down relentlessly. Why were they even outside at a time like this, when they could easily take shelter inside one of the buildings? They didn't know...but somehow, they felt this was how it was meant to be.

Things proceeded as normal, although Kelster23 did spontaneously turn into a male. The majority decided that SgtFusion was obviously suspicious, at which point the narrator regretted making him the star of the tunnel-exploring escapades. They decided on the traditional method of hanging for his lynching. Because who does not like a good hanging, right? They took him to the Ferris Wheel, tied him to one of the passenger gondolas, and turned it on. The machine whirred into motion, the colourful lights flickered on, and it started to move. They craned their heads up to watch the body swing in the breeze. Unfortunately, the moving wheel had the side effect of meaning Shadowmoon was lowered to the bottom. He stumbled off the ride before his booth moved too high up again. He looked incredibly faint and rather skinnier than before.

"Hey guys...I'm...still alive, actually..."

Paul.Power took a pencil that he had tucked behind his ear, and stabbed him in the face, piercing a hole straight into his brain and right through the back of his head.

"I beg to differ."

He let the body fall to the ground. Then he turned to face the rest of the road trippers. Metal Alex backed away from them and joined Paul's side. He clicked his fingers, and soon a parrot fluttered into view and perched on his shoulder. "Polly did good? SQWAWK!" it cried out, while coughing up a SECOND eyeball.

"Yes," said Metal Alex.

Then there was a buzzing sound. They all turned to face Alien King, who had his eyes closed. It almost seemed there were sparks coming from him...and then a crackling static sound began to come out of the speaker system.

"...zzzbzbzbzzzzzzbzzz...ahaha. Hello, my friends. What a LOVELY day it is! Have you enjoyed our little...GAME? Because I fear it is nearing an end. But it's not about who WINS, remember! It's about the TAKING PART! Ahaha! Of course, in this particular case, the LOSERS will not live to see another day...but details, details! YEAHAHEHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

Then it stopped. Alien King's eyes snapped open. "Kill them," he said.

"Yes," said Metal Alex, who before they could even run, had rushed over to Pickleworm and super_frea, grabbed their heads, and banged them together with such force that they were completely smashed apart. Meanwhile, Paul had grabbed Kelster23's head and began pulling it upwards, her neck stretching to ridiculous proportions, the tension building up. He let go, and it rocketed down and ripped her entire body open.

"The game has been won," said Paul, with just a tiny bit of smugness in his voice.

"Ahaha, not quite," said Alien King. Paul arched an eyebrow. "I'm sorry, were you somehow under the impression that this was a TEAM game?"

Paul and Metal Alex instantly tried to move, but found they were frozen to the spot. Alien King closed his eyes again, the buzzing sound returned, and the sparks with it. Slowly, the Ferris Wheel began to be uprooted from its foundations, rising above the ground. Alien King put his hands in the air and starting making a turning motion with them, and the wheel began spinning. Quickly increasing in speed, it soon became a blur of coloured lights. He opened his eyes and flung his hands towards Paul and Metal Alex.

There was an explosion. There was a lot of mess. And then there was only Alien King, standing in the storm and the wreckage, crackling with dark magic, throwing his head back to face the skies.

"AHAHA! A VILLAGE, AND NOW A CARNIVAL! THOSE WHO WOULD STAND AGAINST ME HAVE BEEN CRUSHED! THE GAME HAS BEEN WON, BUT THE FUN IS JUST BEGINNING! YEAHEAHEHAEAHAHAHAHAHAH!"

The ghost of Plasma materialized next to him. "Yep, you can say that again!"

FACEPALM.

Day 5 is over. SgtFusion has been lynched. This makes three vampires and three humans left, which means The Vampires Win!

The Vampires were Alien King (Again), Metal Alex (ALSO again), Paul.Power and Plasma. franpa was the Seer, SgtFusion was the Priest, and yauhui was the Guardian Angel (Heh).

Good game everyone, and congratulations Vampires! (Yes, ALL of you. I should really stop killing you all except Alien King. Would not want you go get paranoid :p). Hope you enjoyed it, even though the updates were sometimes a bit sporadic, what with it overlapping with the holidays and all that. Once again the special roles were eliminated early, though this time through lynchings rather than night kills. It would seem yauhui was indeed telling the truth, though maybe did not go about it in the best manner since you all SCORNED HIM. :p I am starting to wonder if the "bad" side has an advantage in this game or not. >.> But in any case, well done, and again hope you all enjoyed it.

Okay, not meaning to be insulting, but that match was actually sorta pathetic. We knew to lynch Yauhui first because we managed to get it out of him that he was the GA (and I'm honestly surprised nobody's noticed that he seems to be incapable of lying yet), and then Franpa practically gave away that he was the Seer by stating outright that I was a vampire without explaining (which also doomed him in the lynchings). The only reason that I died in the end was because MetalAlex couldn't decide on which story sounded more convincing and wanted to wait for a team opinion (despite being explicitly(sp?) told that we'd win straight off no matter what he said). And even after that, nobody voted for any of the vampires!
I mean, c'mon, how did you not realise that I was a vampire? Especially after I wasn't dying at night?

And even I managed to screw up, after I accidentally sent the entire vampire list to MrBunsy by mistake. Bloody good thing we killed him on the first night.

So far we've had 3 vampire/werewolf victories and only 1 human victory.
Is it me, or are humans getting... dozy.
The 3rd game got interesting, but the humans started thinking too late.
This last game wasn't so interesting, there was very little or no open discussion on suspects or the metagame.
The specials also have an unusual habit of getting themselves killed quite early. God dammit, if you're the Seer, don't let other people know who you can't trust.

Victory seems to depend on how quickly the humans organise themselves - in the first game we managed to survive after forming a network of several humans. In the last three, that didn't seem to occur (although usually because the Seer dropped dead too soon).
Having 4 vampires this game helped too. Would have been more tense with just 3.

It's because of two things:
1: People tend to get lynched based on how suspicious they're acting, rather than people's reasoning against tem. This means that anyone who opens their mouth is practically guaranteeing themselves to be a target for lynching. (Although then again, I seemed to survive despite being so vocal just because I gave my reasons for trying to lynch others, so...)
2: People seem to prefer saving their own skin than outing the vampires. That was also one of the things I took advantage of to save myself. -Serously guys, you really need to stop doing that.
3: People still really like bandwagons. Probably because of the second point.

I concur. It also did not help that you killed MrBunsy first night, who was one of the main talkers in the previous game. Which makes sense, of course. The solution is that more people need to speak up. :p (And just think a little more instead of voting blindly).

And, y'know, partly because Paul was a vampire this time.

Having 4 vampires this game helped too. Would have been more tense with just 3.

Yeah. It can be tricky to judge what number is good though (As a general rule I have tried and made it roughly a quarter). I may try and err on the side of fewer rather than more in future.

---------------

EDIT: You know, I was thinking about this a little more, and I cannot help but wonder if this has anything to do with game 2. Because in that one, lots of people were very vocal, and suspicions were flung left and right and people discussed all this kind of stuff, and the werewolves just stayed quiet and subtly picked off the low profile players, leaving everyone else to destroy each other.

So then when a new game comes around, you have all these people being afraid of speaking up for fear of being singled out and the werewolves (Or vampires, as the case may be) slipping under the radar, so what you get is people staying very quiet, jumping on bandwagons at the first opportunity, and providing no real explanations for their votes other than "I think he's suspicious." :p Which does not lead to very exciting games, and ultimately gives a big advantage to the vampires.

I suppose in theory if enough people starting getting actively involved, the vampires would have no choice but to do so as well, for fear of sticking out. But frankly, not enough people are using their brains right now for any of this to be an issue. >.>

I'm afraid I'm unable to host for a few weeks yet, I've got a fortnight of exams coming up next week.

As to numbers of vampires, my technique was to have it so if humans lynch randomly and vampires kill off a human a night, the game will be finished in 4/5 days. That gives the humans just long enough to organise themselves, but if they don't then they lose. Though I'm not sure if it was worth the effort.

No...... we lost :(

I'm also surprised that Alien King and Paul.Power and Metal Alex were the vampires- I really thought that yauhui or franpa would be one of the vampires, and I did suspect Sgtfusion too. I knew that Plasma was a vampire once he started getting very defensive on Page 5.

I'm certainly up for another game, though.

We did have trouble coming up with people to kill. Eventually we started killing the roleplayers (Angelus the Pirate, Lushmoss) because we reasoned that it would be harder to persuade people to lynch them.

If you noticed, all three human specialists were lynched, although in the case of Sgt. Fusion that was just luck.

The Vampires were Alien King (Again), Metal Alex (ALSO again), Paul.Power and Plasma. franpa was the Seer, SgtFusion was the Priest, and yauhui was the Guardian Angel (Heh).

You forgot to mention that I was the pirate.

I played a game like this with my family and relatives on New Year's eve. It was fun, even though people kept trying to lynch me. The difference was that there was one murderer (rather than 4 vampires/werewolves/whatever), a doctor (rather than a guardian angel), a detective (rather than the priest and seer), and all the rest were townspeople. Also, the detective had to choose one person to accuse, and the narrator would indicate if they were right or wrong. The special roles were chosen using playing cards.[/slightlyofftopic]
I knew that special roles were dying, but I didn't know exactly which ones. I kind of suspected that we might be killing off the good special roles as well as/instead of the vampires.

I didn't die this time :D
I would be interested in another round, just I can't host because I don't stay on long enough.

Somewhere in the middle of the game I started worrying that my elaborate story-telling and use of direct speech could be my doom. And it turned out to be the cause.

Nevertheless, I'll definitely join another round and will again role-play and tell stories.
It's just great fun.

P.S.:
Aren't there variants where the werewolves have a special role? I can't remember any particular, but if there is a good one, we could reduce the number of werewolves to 3.

I think that in the next game we should have the village drunk. Whoever it is has to type as illegibly as possible.
