works fine in MY Opera.

Just upgraded to new version, works fine now.
Although this newer version is oo shiny for my liking. Doesn't exactly blend in well to my current desktop.

If you pushed a worm onto a booby trapped mine (or walked on one yourself) the mine (if it is triggered before you collect the crate) will blow you away from the crate before the crate explodes thus dealing normal mine damage, however if you got the crate first then hit the mine...

either way it isn't that exciting unless you can have things happen at the same time. You could have the crate turn into a new crate/item that deals the combined damage of a exploding crate+mine thus dealing the combined damage of course...

Tail Nail

PTS= 5

well, aside from the fact that we don't need to suggest NEW weapons when we don't even have all the OLD weapons, I've got a few criticisms.

This was something that I had considered while going through the list of all the Worms weapons when first designing the game. As you have to be at close range it would probably need the mine/dynamites extra retreat time or you'd need a fast walk, otherwise you'd just get shot back the next round. However, I don't know if it's really powerful enough for a close range weapon, because getting up close can be pretty risky in this game. Like aku said, I question it's usefulness. Mind you, I guess I could question the usefulness of mines too, although they have different modes to try and make up for their lack of raw power (and they help for doing reasonable damage against worms in bubble troubles)

Far too similar to the shotgun. Sure it might do more damage than the longbow but push less as a result, but I don't think such a weapon is needed. The damage/pushing niches are already filled with the respective weapons.

Actually, the minigun only has a range of 3 for balance (or because it's extremely innacurate at long range if you must have narrative justification). The reason is mainly because it does loads of damage and pushes really far. I don't think a weakened but non-team weapon version is really needed. If you need either the damage or pushing, there are other weapons available, and getting both is what distinguishes the minigun from the rest.

If I were to add in a weapon that threw worms 5-6 spaces away then I'd probably make it a baseball bat so that you had to be at close range to use it (it could probably do 30 damage too). The reason why I never implemented that in the first place was because I didn't want there to be a weapon that moved a worm so far away. It gives rise to a problem where strategically placing yourself on "high" ground away from water becomes less useful because anyone could get next to you and send you flying into water that's really far away, which is a problem that the baseball bat has in the proper Worms games.

Worms in this game can only move 3 squares without using an expensive utility, so I feel that being able to move them 4 squares away at most is fine. I feel anymore would be too powerful and would turn the game into more of a "spam homing/strike weapons" game than it already is.

Hm. I blew up a crate on a height-1 tile with the AoE of the Super Sheep, but the worm right next to the crate didn't get hurt or shoved at all. And yes, the chat log does say the crate blew up.

Well they're not supposed to have a 1x1 explosion. Like Melon's guide says, they explode in a way identical to oil drums.

Yes, crate explosions are supposed to be 3x3. Maybe the crate sank before it exploded? Either way, I'll look into it like everything else reported. I know I promised an update soon but GUESS WHAT MORE EXAMS WOO. :(

Actually, the use of the tail nail was that the worm couldn't move until it got hit by an explosion... Make that to not be able to move until it gets hurt, and you have a curious weapon.

With your suggestion, I cannot think why it could possibly be good. You make them lose a turn yes, but you waste yours in getting next to them and using the thing.

Yeah, that is true.


And Plasma, check Worms Evolved. It is your turn on "All we wanna do is eat your brains" Most games your in, people have to wait days for you to take your turn.

Hm, counting up, I'm apparently pretty good at this! So far, and I counted, I did better than 20 people, and worse than 8. I believe the only time I came last, or anywhere worse than fourth worst, was in a 1v1 match against Paul. I think that's the only time anyway.


Also, any opinions on a Beta tournament?

I'm not doing as bad as I expected to be either.

There's only been 2 or 1 matches that i've came last in as far as I remember, and about 4 where I managed to get to the final 2.

I'm average, i'd say.


EDIT: What would you people say to team deathmatches in the game? when you host a game, you can choose what type of game you want to pick, team deathmatch or normal deathmatch. In a team deathmatch, you team up against another player, and fight the opposing team/teams.

You know people, if you have so much trouble keeping up with the games, you can just turn on Notifications in your Profile. :p

Heres a minor bug for you SupSuper :) If you drop a TNT the game doesn't automatically switch to showing your retreat opportunities. You have to click your worm twice (to deselct then select) to use your retreat movement points.

BUG

Heres a minor bug for you SupSuper :) If you drop a TNT the game doesn't automatically switch to showing your retreat opportunities. You have to click your worm twice (to deselct then select) to use your retreat movement points.Technically, you just have to unselect the weapon.

I'm not sure which is more intuitive. I decided to keep the weapon selected for multi-shot weapons, but I guess there's few of them.

Which would people prefer? Have the game switch to "move mode" after firing a weapon? Stay in "fire mode" as it is now? ...something else?

I'll sort it out once I get to the graphical overhaul.

I dunno, if I had to stick to have only one then I'd prefer it stay on fire mode so that I don't forget to use the second shot and new people won't skip the second shot without knowing. as it is a newbie would probably try clicking their worm again cause it was acting like it was broken, and they'd figure out how to get back to moving again soon enough. either way you'll definitely NOT forget you had more movement where it'd be rather easy to forget a second shot when you already fired one.

It's probably best described as a "grid-based Worms". And it's not meant as a replacement, just an alternative for those that want a more casual play. I still wholeheartedly support WA/WWP. ;)

I did just make the move in stages, but still, the path finder should have let me move straight there in one click :/move as close to the top left as you can, then you'll have the option to move to that square.

path finding is buggy but you can still move anywhere you SHOULD be able to, you just may have to use 2 clicks to do it.

Everything by the looks of it :p I just won Game 1 (this is a game or something) and it's been moved to the ended list, but it's your turn supposedly, and it didn't count. No win for me :(

I've also fixed the gamelog (although there'll be a gap in events now), sorry about the inconvenience.

While I'm here, I might as well check with you guys. Once the game hits "final" (that is, all the weapons are implemented and hopefully all bugs are fixed), I'm planning on starting from a clean slate. This means that all rankings and games will be cleared (but players will be kept) since a lot of them have been through hell and back with the game breaking and don't probably represent it. (they were beta and all)

Of course I wanna check what you guys think. Obviously there's plenty of time to finish any existing games before the game goes final and I'll give plenty of warning. I just don't know if any games hold a place in your hearts or something. :p

i was also wondering about still games.
There are several games started or joined by players that never again check in after their 1st move. is there some way to have this undone? cancel games after a certain amount of time, or perhaps have players vote out the inactive one & to continue the game without that player?

not a clue if this is doable, but i've noticed i'm in several games that never will finish because someone stopped playing..

Actually, better idea: before it goes final, as in the very last update, replace 'wins' with points, and give 1 point for a win on a 2P match, 2 on a 3P, and 3 on a 4P, etc. And perhaps a points/losses ratio. I'm just saying because the current system is biased against those who play with small numbers of players.


Also, what SqHex said: turns need some sort of a time limit, or the games list will get pretty full with inactive games. I say 'turns' instead of 'games' because if it's games alone, with something like a draw on game end, then it can easily be abused.

have losses accumalate seperate points to what you get for winning and use the same scale?

The number of worms you have left should determin the number of turns you have too. Like if you have 2 worms alive then you should have 2 turns, not 3.

I'm just waiting for more updates myself, its sorta incomplete as it is.
In any case, I'm not in any active games, so I'm not delaying anyone.

As for games not being finished, I presume they'll be looked into later. At the moment, they aren't really preventing anything.

Worms Evolved seems to be dead for now. Most games are getting delayed because people aren't taking their go, and there hasn't been any new people recently, and there hasn't been much players either :-/

Eh, not so actively now. I haven't created a game in a month now, and I don't intend to create a game now either.

One thing that should be fixed soon is a time limit for taking your go, i'm betting most people have left because they've been kept waiting too long in games.

It's not abandoned, just on hiatus. I'm in a very busy university period, and i'd rather spend what little free time i have enjoying myself and not go insane.

I was hoping to have finished the beta before then so you could just play while i wasn't around, but no such luck.

Well, currently the main issue seem to be AFKs, so i'll try to get that handled first.

Ok there's now an away system in place. I can't test it throughly so please report any bugs. All games have been reset so anyone that doesn't take any action within the next 5 days will be set as away.

Details:
Due to the incredible amount of people skipping their duties, there is now an away system in place. Any player that doesn't take any action for 5 days will be set as away and their turn skipped. They can clear this at any time by simply logging in and checking their game.

Detailed changes:
- Added away status to players (game-specific)
- Added away timeout to games (a player is set to away if this time is exceeded)
- New Away notification in player profiles.
- Dead players are displayed with a strikethrough, while away players are displayed greyed out.

I'm in 5 games so far and I've been checking every couple of days. has yet to be my turn....trust me, though, I AM trying...You know there's notifications for that. :p

You know there's notifications for that. :pyeah, but I don't actually use any RSS feeds and don't check my e-mail consistently enough to skim through there for updates :p presumably this site uses one of those 2 things.

Problem occurs when two people in a more-than-two-player match are gone. Plus, having it on automatic means that if all players are gone, the game eventually ends and stops spamming up the lobby.

Making the away system non-automatic defeats the whole point. (in that people would only be away whenever they damn well pleased, still hogging games)

well, I can access the game while logged out but not while logged in (I get the already mentioned error). I can view the list of games and can see it is my turn in that game while I am logged in.

I could access the game fine while logged in until the 5th day had passed hence my assumption supsuper made a booboo somewhere in his code :/

Apparently there was a typo in resetting the away time. This in turn meant that players couldn't come back from away. This also caused games to be permanently away, setting everyone away until it looped back and somehow just stopped and didn't explode.

Anyways I've fixed it now and reset everyone's away status, although all games have randomly fast-forwarded so better check your turns again. That's what you should expect from betas. :p

Fixes:
- Away players weren't properly reset when they came back
- Away players weren't properly formatted in the players list

Maybe implement it like I said, for only 2 player games? 3+ player games should skip a players turn each time it comes around till they clear there "away" status (just like in W:A)

SURPRISE UPDATE!

Fixes:
- Away players still weren't being properly reset.
- Games where everyone is away will now stop until someone returns.
- Message for donor cards sinking was incorrect.
- Some fixes to Kamikaze.

Additions:
- Old Woman (yes look Aku yes look and behold oh my gosh I finally did it!!!!!!!!!!!)
- Sheep

For those still having issues with being away, remember that you'll only lose your away status if you view the game in question while logged in, it doesn't clear the status off every game instantly.

Oh wait hold on I think I see what's happened there. Note the green team worm on the left of the map. According to the log, he drowned on a previous turn, and according to the team list, green is eliminated, but nope, he's still there. So there's a discrepancy and that's why it's doing this odd thing.

she steals weapons just fine, I think, but she doesn't tell you what she stole. I don't think I had an airstrike before but I'm not entirely certain of that. either way she's not giving a notification of it and possibly not stealing anything at all.

That's because you used a Fast Walk. The retreat "moves" you get doubles from 2 to 4 and your normal movement doubles from 3 to 6, so you get to move 10 spaces total that turn.

In this case, it's best to treat it like a dynamite. If the player wanted to drop a poison mine or shockwave mine, they'd immediately get hit by the blast. Assume it's taking time to "arm" the mine or whatever, like it does in the real Worms.
