I am currently working on a new video project!

It is.. *drum roll*

TheFreaks Pictures of the Year 2008 video compilation!

Pictures of the Year 2008, or PotY 08 in short, is a video compilation featuring funny, whacky, awesome, zany, hilarious or plain http://a.deviantart.com/avatars/o/h/ohmaiplz.gif.

It will be posted to deviantART and YouTube, and any other websites I deem appropriate (such as Google Video, etc).

The deviantART version will be made by me in Flash, while the YouTube version will be made by mikhail (other part of TheFreaks) in iMovie.

And you can be a part of it! Here's how!

If you have a picture or two, and would like them to be featured, please send them to redevil1995[at]REMOVETHISOBVIOUSLYFAKEBITgmail[dot]com with the following details:

-Full name (a pseudonym may be included if you want). This will appear in the credits.
-Location (preferably your country). This will be displayed with your picture, instead of your name, to protect your privacy (and to prevent abuse).
-Camera used when taking picture (e.g. Sony a350, Canon D450, Canon IXUS 65, Sony Ericsson K800i, Nokia 6681, etc)

It is preferred if you first upload the images to ImageShack and then email me the URL of the picture (available at the bottom of the page upon successful upload; scroll down to obtain picture URL).

Please be wary of advertisements on ImageShack (some of the ads appear to be a part of the website itself). I will not claim responsibility for any malware attack arising from your visit to ImageShack.

Your pictures can also be uploaded to deviantART. Send me the link to the resized image (look below).

Pictures should not be larger than 1024x768 (ImageShack and deviantART can resize your picture, 800x600 recommended) and must not contain:

-Gore (blood, extreme violence)
-Nudity
-Ideologically sensitive pictures (examples: race/politics/swearing - e.g. middle-finger, gestures resembling/symbolizing sexual acts, violence, etc)

Pictures will be judged and selected ones will be featured.

Image quality is top priority, and when I say that I do not mean taking 5-megapix pictures. I mean clear, decently steady shots (where the subject can be seen and identified easily and clearly).

It's okay if your picture is slightly shaky. I understand that some cameras are REALLY slow, even my current phone camera is.

By submitting your pictures to me, you agree to grant me all rights to publish the submitted picture.

This is to ensure that I don't get into any troubles with copyright. You can still retain your copyright to the pic (it's tagged to your picture by default in deviantART), all I want is the right to publish it online, or in any other forms of media (booklet, mini-magazine, etc) - which I think is highly unlikely.

The resulting video will be copyleft TheFreaks, all wrongs deserved. Well, until further notice.

I have begun compiling the pictures together (many thanks to splapp for flash help), but I am lack of a hundred pictures or so.

EDIT: I only watched the first three pictures before I got bored.

Honestly, it looks more like the entire thing is composed of random pictures taken from people's albums than actually focusing on picking out particularly good ones.

Yeah it wasn't very funny, only 3 or 4 were funny, but overall some were just pointless.

This is a photo album... If you really want something awesome, it needs to have unique stuff, that everyone can enjoy, not only you.

Well, you see, I posted this thread a long time ago (I hope 10 days ago count), asking for funny pictures.

But no one submitted any. What can I do?

Well, let's just take this as something to help next year's Pictures of the Year get more picture contributions.

It was good organizing and stuff, but the hilarity levels were down to 0%. Only some, (about 4) made me laugh, to be brutally honest. Overall, there were no hilarious ones at all. None. Nothing was very special about it, and i am a bit dissapointed, i'm afraid to say.

Anyway, if you every do a POTY again, these are some tips.....

1. Make sure the video is deserving of its name. Its called, TheFreaks Pictures of the Year 2008 video. As Plasma said, its more like a photo album compilation of random-ness.

2. It did not have a lot of variety. Most pictures were of your friends, other pictures were by me, Kelster, Traxada and Angelus. The reason most people don't want to starr in the video, is because they will feel embarassed. I don't, but variety is needed if you do this again.

3. You can snag certain images off google, y'know, unless they are copyrighted.

I'll be honest, it won't. Because most people don't want their picture show on the net, and they could feel embarassed.

And of the people who watch it, 33.33% will be your friend(s) and will think it's cool just because you made it; other 33.33% will be internet morons who might or might not like it, and the other 33.33% of people who watch it will be poor sods who made the wrong choice of link to click and for some reason didn't close it.
There's also the people who click the link and close it almost instantly, but these do not count as watchers because they didn't stick around to watch the video.
In short, there's about a maximum total of 9 to 12 people who will actually watch your video.

Therefore, it serves no purpose whatsoever.
But neither does your forum and you still have it up, so... yeah, I don't have much hopes.

I'm not intending this to be the next Badly Drawn Dawg or something.

It's just a do-as-I-learn thing.

A collection of images would be better as an online photo album with thumbnail previews and slideshow function.

That way, you wouldn't have had the chance of adding shıtty remixes of crappy, ancient Euro dance music. :p
