I've noticed that it recently started being August all of a sudden. Crud on toast. Here we are, already 7/12ths of the way through 2008. Remembering that a lot of people complained that I forgot about the contest until September last year, this time, I'm kicking it off a whole entire month earlier! Shazam! Hey, it's still summer...

So here you go: The 6th annual rendition of the original HAY GUYS DRAW MY WORM :D Contest. Six years. That means I've been here on this for over seven, as of last month. That's a long time on the Internet, yo.

Here's the deal for people who are both unfamiliar with the contest and pretty dumb: Draw Zero Worm! There you have it. Don't just draw him standing around in white space, though. I mean, you can, but that's less fun. Draw him ramping a badass pimped-out futuristic motorcycle over an ocean filled with acid and brimming with zombie acid sharks, or hating the Hinder song Lips Of An Angel, or opening a pickle jar with the greatest of ease, or yodeling, or whatever you think will make your image cooler and more likely to win the contest.

By the way, have some RULES, gratuitously copied and pasted from the previous year's competition, and probably the one before that:

1. One entry per contestant. If you decide you don't like your entry, you can withdraw it and do a new one if you like.
2. Any medium is accepted, except for animations -- still images only, please. Allowing animations would unbalance the competition pretty dramatically.
3. You can make it whatever size you want, but make it quickly viewable in this thread -- attach it directly to your post if that works for you, use img tags if it's small enough, img in a smaller version if it's too big.
4. Be tasteful on whatever gore you decide to include. I think it was year 2 or 3 where half the entries had red spraypaint plastered all over the place. It gets tiresome.
5. You all know that I'm a lazy jerk who hates such things as commitment and organization, so as always, the competition will close for entries whenever they stop coming in. Let us know if you have something in the pipeline, and I'll probably wait up for you. Afterwards, I'll pick out 10 finalists, who will be added to a poll to decide the final winner, and runners-up if that's your sort of thing.
6. Golden Rule: Don't take this too seriously; It's meant to be fun!

"What do we win?" some of you are asking. Um... A firm handshake? A pat on the back? A chance at being more likely to appear in some comic or another, like if I ever pick that Forum Comic of mine back up? A new "Achievement Unlocked" line in your sig? You decide. Previous competitions have taught me not to promise any specific reward, because I just about never actually end up giving them... So do it for the honor and prestige. Yeah, that.

On that note, have at you! ...Reference, you ask? They're everywhere, bud.

Which is why it's really cool.

I really like the lighting cast by the sabers, and the silhouettes trailing behind me are very reminiscent of an actual effect used in Mega Man games these days.

Well, there's 3 reasons why he could have done it. He could have done it, because.....

1. It was rubbish.

2. Monkeys ate your drawing!

Not sure where you get that from. Number of fingers strikes me more as a stylistic choice than a matter of good/bad art. And they're reasonably well-drawn fingers, so who cares if it's four or five?

As well as made the picture slightly softer, I added lights and lyrics.

Haha, thanks. But eally, I've seen you draw some really good weapons, like SupSuper's laser gun or Shadowmoon's laser-edged sword. Just have Zero fight an army of worms with that sort of stuff and you get my vote. I'd rather vote for someone other than myself. :p

It's just a doodle I made, and I might even have to change it. So anyway, the left side is far more better than the right. It's just because I'm not really am an expert when it comes to drawing wires, techie stuff, etc.

Pretty cool. The lined paper make it look a little ugly, but it's a minor quibble really.

Ha, that is nice! Maybe you could've put made the outline red on one side and blue on the other, but that's just me.

Wow. The second one is nifty, but somehow just seems a little awkward as compared to the first, which is definitely pretty twisted but equally as well-done. If I had to pick one, I'd definitely go for that.

the first is BEGGING for a coloring job equally amazing as the amount of detail you put into it.

it is also much better than the second if a little faded. just needs some refinement in the form of inking (and possibly coloring).

Sorta, I first joined back in 2003 looking for help with W:A. I was on for 10 minutes and made two posts before I completely forgot the address to the forum or how I got there in the first place. I came back again about a year later, but had forgotten that I had already been here and already had an account.
I only actually found out myself about 8 months after I joined the second time.

And I really don't know how I remember all that.

Uh... well here's my entry. I wasn't going to enter at first, because I don't know nuthin' 'bout nothin', but ultimately the urge to enter ovewhelmed me.

I coloured it using markers, but unfortunately, the pink started to run out, so it looks streaky. I also would have drawn a background, but my pen lacks the ink, and my mind lacks the creativity for such an endeavour, so in a feeble attempt to create the illusion of scenery I overused sound effects. Oh well

Might as well end this... I Kept trying to come up with cool poses for zero worm but I could only come up with human poses. I suppose I'm fed up of drawing worms. So I'm giving a try at drawing Zero in human form instead, which is coming along nicely I think.
