Hello Everyone, It seems that there are a lot of people who don't know how to host in WWP. So I took the time and typed up IN DETAIL instructions on how to host for 2 other people I met in the game. So I decided to post it in here to help others out. THIS IS THE BEST WAY!!! SO DON'T SKIP STEPS!!!
================================================== ========

HOW TO HOST IN WWP FOR OS: Windows XP

Created by Fyre1

Ok it seems that there is a lack of people who can host in WWP. So hopefully this walk
through well go into enough depth so that people will actually understand how to make the right set up so that they may host! :) So I hope this works for the majority of you out there...

================================================== ================================================== =========================
Part I
"Setting Up A Static IP Address"
================================================== ================================================== =========================

First thing, set yourself up a static IP address. This is so that your IP address will stay stationary and will not subject to change. Do what I tell you in this order:

1. Click on start menu, on the right hand side, at the bottom, select "Run"

2. In the box, type the word "command" - A black box will open up, it is the DOS Prompt for Windows XP

3. In the black box type "ipconfig" - A list of numbers will pop up. You will need to write down your IP Address, your Subnet Mask, your Default Gateway, and your Name Servers(DNS Server). (Your same servers should be the same as your default gateway.) Now in Dos. Type "exit"

4. Go to Start Menu, on the right hand side, select "Control Panel".

5. Choose the option "Network Connection" then select "local area connections"

6. A screen will pop up go down to the bottom under general and select "properties"

7. Under Properties, double click on "Internet protocol (TCP/IP)" This will open up the option of "Obtain IP Address automatically" or "use the following address" - Click on the second circle. In all these boxes you are going to type in all the IP Address information you just wrote down. At the bottom, type in your Name Server(DNS Server). Click "OK"

If All went right, You now have a static IP Address! to test and see if it worked, Click on your internet browser and see if it still works. If it works, it went perfect!

Now while you are still in Local area connection properties, at the top click on "Advanced", you will need to uncheck the box for "Internet Connection Firewall." click OK.

================================================== ================================================== =========================
Part II
"Port Forwarding"
================================================== ================================================== =========================

Now, this is the tricky party that no one seems to understand, but if you follow my instructions STEP BY STEP!. Everything should work perfectly for you. Now, for the people who have already tried to make the forwarding ports and failed at it, delete those ports that are forward and start from fresh. Now start off by this order.

1. Open your web browser, in your address bar, type in your Default gateway, for example, some peoples gateway will be 192.168.1.1 ---- That is what you need to type in. You will be brought to a sign in screen. In the User Name box, type "admin" and for the password, if you set everything up yourself the password should be "password" if a tech set it up for you, the password should be "password1"

Try both of them. If one doesn't work the other one will. Now, you are in your routers mainframe!

2. Around at the top(it could be on the side, depending on your router) Look for the option "Firewall Settings" or Security" Click on it. You will get a warning, may not, it will ask you if you want to proceed, click "yes"

3. In the "main" section there should be a link called "port forwarding" Click on this link. You will get a list of ports that are already open for your computer.

4. Scroll to the bottom of the list and click "add" --- Then at the top, you should see a box that says "specify public address" click on the box.

5. Open a new browser and go to www.whatismyip.com --- The number that pops up is you public IP address, write it down.

6. Back in the router mainframe, type in the public IP address that you have just recieved.

7. Network Computer/ Device, here you want to leave it on specify address, and in the box next to it, type in your IP address,!!!!NOT YOUR PUBLIC IP ADDRESS!!!! But the IP address that you first used to make your static IP address.

8. By Protocol, Click "Add"... Under "service name" type in "WWP", just so you remember what it is for. Now, this is where you forward the ports!

9. click on "add server ports" ports to be opened are as followed:

Protocol: TCP
Source Ports: Any
Destination Ports: Single 80

Click "Apply/OK"

Add anotheer one, keep doing this in the same order:

Protocol: TCP
Source Ports: Any
Destination Ports: Single 6667

Click "Apply/OK"

Add:

Protocol: TCP
Source Ports: Any
Destination Ports: Single 6677

Click "Apply/Ok"

Add:

Protocol: TCP
Source Ports: Any
Destination Ports: Range 17010 - 17012

Click "Apply/Ok"

10. "WAN Connection Type" should be set to "All Broadband Devices"

11. "Forward To Port" Should be set to "same as incoming port"

12. "When should this rule occur?" Should Be set to "Always"

13. Click Apply. Now back out of everything, clicking apply for everything so that it saves. Get back out to the warning menu and logout.

NOW YOU SHOULD HAVE THE PORTS FORWARDEDEDED! =D

Now, I know that everyone has different routers so if these steps arn't accurate to your router, sorry, you can also go to
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm and choose your brand of router and choose the game you are trying to set up. If you choose to do this way, Choose the game Worms: Armeggeddon. They follow the same ports.

!!!! BUT MAKE SURE YOU ADD IN THE PORT 6677!!!!

I had to add in this port in order to make myself host. I did it the way portforward.com told me to and I still couldn't host, so I added that port, and it works fine now. See, I am the smarter person! ;-)

================================================== ================================================== =========================
Part III
"Another Tricky Part"
================================================== ================================================== =========================

Now that you have your static IP Address set up, and now you also have The ports forward. You are almost done! Follow these last bit of steps:

1: Click Start Menu, on the right side, select "Run"

2: Type in "regedit" --- The windows registy menu will open

3: select in the following order:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER

SOFTWARE

TEAM17SoftwareLTD

NetSettings

4: In the right side, find AddressOverride, Right Click on it, and select "Modify" Now, Change the Value Data from 0 to 1 and click "ok"

5. In the right hand side again, look for LocalAddress, Right click on it and again, slect "modify" In the Value Data, type in your Public IP Address, Click ok. Now Exit the Registry.

The Registry is now Complete!

================================================== ================================================== =========================
Part IV
"The Final Step"
================================================== ================================================== =========================

Open up the Game Now, Inside The Game, Before you go into WormNet, Type in the Nickname, and under WormNet, there is a box that say "configurations"

Click on it.

In the Upper right hand corner, there is a spot to up your IP address into it. !!!!TYPE YOUR PUBLIC IP ADDRESS INTO IT!!!!

Click Ok.

THERE!!! YOU'RE FINISHED!!! Now if all went well, and you didn't try to skip any steps. You should now be able to host.... If you still can't host, I'm sorry, your S**T out of luck, because this is the best I can do, and I think the best that anyone has tried to do.

So have fun downloading maps and sharing them with other people and sharing the maddness of WWP online :-D

9. click on "add server ports" ports to be opened are as followed:

Protocol: TCP

Source Ports: Any

Destination Ports: Single 80

Click "Apply/OK"

Add anotheer one, keep doing this in the same order:

Protocol: TCP

Source Ports: Any

Destination Ports: Single 6667

Click "Apply/OK"

Add:

Protocol: TCP

Source Ports: Any

Destination Ports: Single 6677

Click "Apply/Ok"

Add:

Protocol: TCP

Source Ports: Any

Destination Ports: Range 17010 - 17012

Click "Apply/Ok"

Only 17011 is needed, nothing else.

The best thing to do is to completely remove the port forwarding bit apart from the bit about portforward.com, as each router is vastly different (and has a vastly different user and pass).

!!!! BUT MAKE SURE YOU ADD IN THE PORT 6677!!!!

I had to add in this port in order to make myself host. I did it the way portforward.com told me to and I still couldn't host, so I added that port, and it works fine now. See, I am the smarter person! ;-)

Then something messed up must have happened, since that port is only used for the chatting bit, and does not need to be forwarded, only opened. If it weren't opened, you wouldn't be able to connect to WN in the first place.
