Hi I noticed there's this wicked Lemmings game on the PS3. Is there any chance we'll see it on Lemmings' native system the PC?
Thanks
Nope, sorry, it's Sony's.
I just downloaded lemmings for my sony ericsson w850i. The nostalgia was enough to induce an errection, the gameplay sucked hard though.

That wasn't Team17's Lemmings. The only version Team17 worked on is on the Playstation consoles (I forget which ones, think it might be the PSP and PS3)

They worked on a proper retail one for PSP and PS2 (a remake of the origional game) and a smaller one for PS3 Shop.

Oh man, I absolutely loved lemmings back in those days. Can you someone please give an overview of what versions of lemmings and for what consoles/computers they are? I'd be primarily interested in PC versions. Thanks!
So the game doesn't belong to Team17 thus there's no possibility for it coming to PC?
Damn.

Unless you can convince Sony to do it. Which is highly unlikely.

you could download Winuae (amiga emulator) and try to get hold of lemmings 2. I still play it from time to time, a classic game :)

Or DOSBox, and play the MS-DOS version (which is easier to find in junk shops and stuff) - and, you don't need an Amiga BIOS file (which is tricky and not legal to get hold of unless you have an actual Amiga somewehre).

Lemmings was by DMA designs for Psygnosis, was it not?

It was but now it's owned by Sony.
Psygnosis is now "Sony Liverpool" I believe... Or something like that anyway :)

This happens a lot in the games industry - Activision owns Call of Duty, and Infinity Ward developed it. That is, until everyone left.
Lemmings are not native to PC's, their original habitat was the Commodore Amiga and they were created by DMA Design, the Dundee-based company that also started the Grand Theft Auto franchise. DMA Design were eventually bought by Rockstar, who moved the company to Edinburgh and renamed it as Rockstar North. The Lemmings' games, though created by DMA Design, were owned by Psygnosis.
Had the Lemmings games gone with GTA to Edinburgh then Lemmings 4 would probably be a first-person shooter by now :p

Have you ever heard of video game publishers? By the sound of that post, you haven't.
In short - publisher acquires studio, publisher owns IPs. Publisher does whatever he wants with them!

I know what the difference is, but I JUST THOUGHT, that Team17 also owned the license to the game, since psygnosis became Sony Liverpool
but seeing that SONY owns lemmings it makes sence for them to keep it on there platforms (PS3, PS2, PSP)

How did you arrive at the conclusion that Sony purchasing Psygnosis had anything to do with Team17? They're distinct entities.
Also, in regards to the platforms, Sony licensed a mobile version of Lemmings (called Lemmings Tribes) for mobile phones so you never know what Sony may decide to do with Lemmings next.
Of course, the current view is that they'll let it rot.
Hopefully if Sony do decide to further along the Lemmings series, they'll get Team 17 in to do it again. :) That distinctive Team17 style made the remakes.

By the way, if I'm accused of reviving a dead thread, it'd be more like reviving a dead section since nobody had posted here since about 3 months ago. :P
