...I think I would even say I would rather see this (http://www.megamanfilm.com/home.html). And I'm a fan of that franchise.

It's kind of like saying I'd rather be kicked in the left knee than the right.

What's with all the Cartoon-And-Videogame Movies lately?

Sure, Marvel can do it, because they can do it WELL; most videogame movies turn out like crap (read: Super Mario Movie).
Let's see:

Halo Movie (soon)
MegaMan Movie (soon too)
Crysis Movie (further away)

Yeah, this is pretty old news guys.

Stephen Chow's involvement is a great sign, Kung Fu Hustle isn't far off what I want this film to be.

And of course James Masters (AKA Spike from Buffy the vampire slayer) is playing piccollo.

Even if it's absoloutely terrible it would have to be pretty special to be worse than the animated Dragonball Z films.

Stephen Chow's involvement is a great sign, Kung Fu Hustle isn't far off what I want this film to be.

He's merely producing it, though.

All producers do is say what can and can't make it through.
I suppose they probably suggest things, too, but that's not exactly a whole lot of creative control.

A sound of thunder (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ofz0GaRZws)... WATCH IT.

And yes, one of those things was a monkeysaurus.

Reception
The film received overwhelmingly negative critical reviews.[1] Common complaints against the film included its poor special effects, uninvolved performances, scientific errors, Ben Kingsley's hair[2][3][4], and lack of respect for its source material. As a result of poor reviews and lack of promotion, the film--which was estimated to have cost $52 million--grossed less than $8 million in worldwide release.

Is the original Dragonball much different from Dragonball Z?absolutely. I mean, if you're familiar with DBZ it would be similar enough that you could enjoy it, but DB was a different style. DBZ was all just "a big nasty thing shows up, everyone must randomly learn new techniques to kill him" where as DB used a lot of the standard anime practices of teaching morals and team work and that sort of thing to overcome your opponents with intelligence. the only move goku knew in DB was the kamehameha, so it was much more common to see him try to trick his opponents.

basically, dragonball was just more plot-driven in the same way that goldeneye was a very plot-driven bond show. dragonball had tons of pointless action and manly grunting and such, but there was much more depth to the show that is present in DBZ. the essence of that seems to be in the movie, but absolutely nothing else :p edit: sort of along the same lines as DBZ was in the fight with radditz up till the fight with vegeta and such. more plot, less pointless action, but still plenty of action so you don't have to think TOO much :p

my point on not enjoying the show was just that if you don't know the plot for DB then you can't possibly appreciate the rape as much as I'm going to when I go watch the movie :D

I watched until about half through the Buu saga before I got fed up with the series. dragonball I watched and enjoyed throughout, but DBZ shat on everything that was DB (at least after the frieza saga....and about half of THAT saga, for that matter)

The frieza and cell saga were awesome D:< . The buu saga was just about ok, if only because of the whole fat buu and mr satan(hercule) thing. :p
Dragon ball GT is utter crap because it was not written by Akira Toriyama. It was just an unsuccessful attempt to try to milk the series more.

and mtl, cell series would've been.....ok, if not for the fact that it was surrounded by them doing the same thing over and over. if the series would've ended after cell, I probably would've accepted teh cell saga as decent, but since it continued on the path of "random enemy showing up out of nowhere who's infinitely stronger than everyone else, so everyone else gets randomly stronger", the cell saga sucked :p

It did not suck. There was even TIME TRAVEL! >:O

Also you got to see Vegeta kicking ass for the first time in like, ever, right before cell got to perfect form, and also after when he used the final flash. Another great moment was when Tien Shinhan managed to stop the imperfect cell for a while using that weird technique of him. And Mr Satan hilariousness. And the culprit of it all when, some years after cell is defeated, they show a "recreation" of the fight in the tournament. :p

edit: Right, also the buu saga contains one of the best fights in DB, when goku fights the possessed vegeta. >:O
