I just wanted to know if any OLD Amiga games are to be rereleased for the latest platforms ?

If the decision is 'no' will they consider releasing ALL the Amiga titles to the GPL so other people can.

I would be very intersted on the exec views of these games and the reasons based on the decisions.

They have all the Amiga images legally hosted on www.dream17.co.uk , and with an Amiga emulator (and proper legally-obtained kickstart disk, such as cloanto's Amiga Forever package (quite cheap and good, I reccomend)) you can emulate them all. Not really what you were asking, though.

yes its good the images are there. I meant source code and rights for other developers to carry the brands forward and not worry about copyrights for concept, images, tunes etc.

Why wouldn't Team 17 be interested in keeping hold of a copyright for something which is theirs? In any case there are murmurings that suggest that some of the older Team 17 titles may see ports or updated releases on other platforms, although there's nothing concrete yet.

If they haven't made a decision yet, you can probably be sure that there's a good reason behind it. Team 17 know how popular their classic titles are - they're the reason Dream17 exists - so I doubt they've turned their backs on those older games.

I do hate it when companies keep hold of copyrights just for the sake of it but make no use of it.
There was this awesome Chrono Trigger remake by fans, which was meant to recreate some of the leves in full 3d, and it looked gorgeous, but Square Enix put a stop to it. I would be fine with this if it weren't for the fact that nothing has been made for this franchise in quite a while and there are no apparent plans to do anything with it in the future.
Same goes with Enix(again) and their rights over SMRPG characters (Geno, Mallow, Croco, Booster, etc), which I assume is the reason they haven't been featured in newer Mario games.

Maybe because it's theirs? It's their precious little gem thing.

If you had a baby, I doubt you'd let strangers tweak him around to make him look like Brad Pitt.
