Does anyone else like this game? (I like it alot.)

That's me playing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bmAefbsqDo) Through the fire and flames on Expert.
Final score: 720,214 with 94% notes hit.

What do you think?

Additional info:
- I know that General Video Game GABBIN' is there for a reason... but this post wouldn't gain attention there so I made a thread for it. No problems at all... right?

I thought you had died!
I like Guitar Hero, but I don't play it as much as I used to.
I'm waiting for God of War 3 to come out, then I'll buy a Playstation 3. Then get Rock Band.

Guitar Hero.... well i played number 3 legends of rock on the X360 at my cousins house, and i can't say i really thought it was fantastic because i don't really like those types of games.

The notes are hard to hit right. I was crap when i first played it.

Don't worry, only one more year to wait then.

I still don't know why you're putting off getting Rock Band for a year when you already have a PS2, but okay.

I've got two right foots (even though my left is still better), but my left hand is pretty dumb, so I don't think I'm ambidextrous unless I'm missing something.

There's a "Lefty Flip" option in the Settings screen. Rock Band (which is, IMHO, much better than Guitar Hero) even lets you change the physical guitar strap to a left-handed position.

I never played the game, but I have watched some videos of it already and it seems pretty cool. Not that you can learn to play guitar with it xD
Isn't there something which gives you the ability to add your own music in there? Because I think I saw someone playing "Sweet Victory", random music played in Spongebob in one of the episodes.

Indeed. Guitar Hero and Rock band are brilliant tools for helping to learn to play the guitar, although not much good if you already know how to play one. Rock Band is also exceptional for the drums.

Was that sarcasm? My point was that although its true they dont help at all, it really doesnt matter because they aren't learning aides, there just games. And I insisted WeXzez dies painfully because he punctured my dream of a single GH discussion that didnt include at least one "GH doesnt really teach you guitar" comment...

I was being honest, not sarcastic.

I know several people who owe their ability to play the guitar to Guitar Hero and/or Rock Band. In some cases it was the game that got them interested in wanting to learn to play the guitar, and in other cases they were using the game as a learning tool. I know that a lot of guitar teachers in the UK are using the game (specifically with the Gibson guitar controller for Rock Band) as a learning tool for their students.

Guitar Hero/Rock Band doesn't seem that much use to people who already know how to play the guitar and think it's not an accurate representation. To a degree, they're correct - it's not 1:1. But it does help.

i would imagine that the drums game would be much closer to the real thing. my gf wants to get guitar hero. personally, i never found it to be particularly interesting, maybe because i play a real guitar. very poorly, but i do play it. so now i'm thinking of just getting the rock band with a guitar and a drum set to see if drumming is anything like the real thing.

You might as well pick up the Rock Band bundle. It's cheaper than buying the game, the guitar and the drum kit separately, and you get a microphone as well.

that's precisely what i was thinking of.

electric drum kits typically sense the strength of the strike. i don't think the one in the rock band does. other than that, essentially, yes. it's a really cheap electric drum kit without the actual sound synthesizer. game does the synth part.

I have GH3 on Wii (which sucks without downloadable content. I wanna play Stockholm Syndrome!!) and I've got 5 Star on everything on Hard and 5 Star on everything except Raining Blood (stupid Mosh 1!) on Expert.

I also love the online play. Playing against people all over the world is really cool except when about 40,000 (exaggerating :p) noobs who can't play Through the Fire and Flames keep choosing it.
I can't even pass 2% on TTFAF on Expert in Career. Any tips on the near impossible intro?

Strum with your elbow so you can get another hand up there.
Or tie an elastic band around the green button for the intro, then take it off ASAP.
Those are just things I've seen/heard.
Or maybe do it only a million times in practice so your fingers know where they're going. It's only partially memory.

i'm inclined to agree - GH3 is a travesty. Neversoft should never write software. Hmm... there's a joke in there, I know it...

Me? I'm playing Rock Band, and stuck on "Green Grass and High Tides" on the Expert Guitar Solo Tour. It's the only song I can't finish, including all of the ones I've downloaded. I only just make it through the first solo but the second solo destroys me.

For Rock Band, what system do you think it'd be best for?
I'm considering getting a new system (Either the 360 or a PS3), and I want to know which one is better for that game, then work with whatever titles I find interesting. Halo for the 360, and GoW3 on its release for the PS3.

Go for the 360 version. The PS3 version doesn't have in-game voicechat, and also doesn't support any GUitar Hero guitars, whereas the 360 version does have in-game voicechat and supports both the Guitar Hero II and III guitars.

If you're stuck on the repeated fast part, that's the hardest part of the song. The rest is fairly graspable.

Yes, I did pass RB on Expert but 5 Star is not gonna happen. Best I could manage was about 159K.

I got 100% on some songs on Expert. Most recent was Lay Down, but it wasn't the highest score. My score was 299386 and the top is 301706.
Others were "When You Were Young" and "My Name is Jonas."

I tried that elbow strumming technique in TTFAF but I'm just too slow at doing that. I practiced the Intro (They're Hammer Ons) over 20 times. I can get 97-100% on Slowest, 92% on Slower and 76% on Slow. But on Full Speed I can only manage about 62-67% of the notes.

Another bonus song I can't do is "Take This Life" but :p to that! It has a stupid note chart and I dunno if I can ever consider this a SONG. I got through 98% once but since then, I just haven't been able to do it again.

Another song I really, really hate is "Same Old Song and Dance" by Aerosmith. The note chart for that is just EVIL! I did get 5 Star on this but no way I'll be playing that song too often.

BTW, there's a "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith" coming in June, and my reaction to that was "WHAT?!"
