Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue. I installed W:A from my cd, updated the most recent patch and graphics pack, and the game loads fine. I can play for a few minutes and then the music starts skipping over and over again and the game lags and freezes. I cannot back out to Windows so I have no choice but to reset the pc. I tried to get to task mgr but the graphics are all yellow and black and 640x480 and it wont let me end wa.exe. I'm trying to find a solution as to why this is happening. Also I noticed when I am in the game and going through the options menu there is a lot of flickering going on. Here are the specs of my computer, and I hope someone can help.

Windows XP Pro SP2
Intel Core2Duo e6300
2gb Ram
8800GTS Video Card
Monitor Resolution for game - 1680x1050

Thanks,

Brett

Please check if your hardware is overheating.

The Cool'n'Quiet CPU setting has been known to cause similar problems. If your motherboard/CPU supports this, try turning it off in your computer's BIOS setup.

You could also try disabling the in-game music in the Options screen. If your CD is scratched or damaged, the game might hang while trying to play the music.

Approximatively how far in the game does this happen (in minutes since you start the game)?

For the flickering, try going into the Tweaks folder and fiddling with the Menu Slowdown-related tweaks (can't remember what they're called)

It typically locks up once a game is over and I return to the menu. The resolution changes from 1680x1050 to 640x480 to display the menu but the mouse just locks up at that point. I can Ctrl-Alt-Del to open the task manager but its all black and yellow and I can't do anything at that point and I have to restart by resetting. Strange problem. I used to play this all the time on my older machines but I wonder if it is a combination of the 8800GTS vid card and my Core2Quad processor.

Can you reproduce the problem consistently? That is, how often does the game lock up at the end of a game?
