"The theory is that once W:A hits version 4.0, a version will be released that plays from a WWP CD, meaning that you can play WWP or W:A with your existing WWP CD. This version will be ready when it's ready. Trying to pin an exact date on it would be impossible and pointless."

Is this theory just vapour? Will it ever happen? I have not actually been able to play WWP since going to XP. First it had go slow until I upgraded hardware. Now it refuses to recognise that I have a WWP CD in the drive. I am getting the feeling that the CD is probably more use as a frisbee and I should go away and play something like UT... Is 2D worms really totally dead now?

The latest WA patch is nearly a year out of date, and certainly will not install on my machine which has a useless WWP install.

Pop into GAME and pick up the Sold Out Worms 2 + Worms Armageddon bundle for a fiver. WA is near-identical to WWP save for the lack of the WormPot and team-coloured mines, so you may as well get that.

It won't be done for a long long time. Like Squirminator said, you're better off buying Worms Armageddon and leaving WWP aside for now.

Well, see it that way:
You would feel much more burned if you bought the rip-off Trymedia downloadable version of WA, which costs triple the price of the retail CD version and isn't compatible with the beta updates at all. :p

it supports the 3.5 beta update.

Well, I meant that it won't support those beta updates that actually matter.

What I cannot believe is that GAME are still stocking WWP. It really should be recalled off the shelves since it barely works and is mostly unsupported.

On this note, I have grudgingly bought Armageddon, and will trade in WWP (somebody might need a frisbee or coaster). I will see how Armageddon fares on my Vista machine... It better work.... mumblemumble

See, the weird thing is that my copy of WWP (an original retail copy, bought on the day the game first came out) works fine on Vista.

To be fair, on the box it probably doesn't say it supports Vista.

WWP works on Vista in the majority of cases, I've found. I've been testing it out on various Vista machines of differing specs here at work and it runs fine most of the time.
