I don't have the game, but can you really trust any of these people who we have never heard of? The only person who has done a review who we know and trust (well...) is Plasma, and his review (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showpost.php?p=643794&postcount=27) was positive.

All these others are saying "I played worms since the beginning". Can we really believe that? Maybe they're one of the idiots who are obsessed in OMG LOTZ OV WEPONZ!1!1!!1!! Why not wait until more regulars have the game before jumping to conclusions.

Many people that have given negative views on the game have given spot on reasons, they don't come out as people who have no idea about the game because they have compared it to past 2D games, and their views match with mine, and I am in turn much more experienced in the 2D series than this Plasma guy you talk about, whose opinions about the Worms series never match with mine (after all, he is a 3D guy and those generally have little idea no matter how much the average joe in this forum disagrees, then again, this forum is generally not very apt with the 2D games W2, WA and WWP), so to answer you question, yes, to be fair, I agree with these guys more than I agree with Plasma.
Not to mention Plasma comes out as the average light gamer, who will rather play Wii sports than become good at PES, for example, which is also the contrary of what I'd do.

I wasn't really saying to like this game, I was more saying not to be too quick at condemming it when only one forumer has the game, when there are more reviews from regulars that's when I'd decide.

Yeah, and I was saying I would consider those reviews to be more objective than most of the ones by forumers, specially if they're Wii or Team17 fanboys (not in the fan sense, we're all team17 fans after all, but more on the biased part).

I also agree with many of the negative comments about the game. It's a good game, but it could have been made so much better if it wasn't rushed. I mainly bought it to add to my Worms series collection.

One positive aspect people could have commented on about it, is at least it is something NEW. Team17 likes to reuse their content over and over for a lot of their Worms games which makes it feel like you are buying a patch, not a new game. Despite the many negatives about the game, at least it is something new.

There are new worm sprites, soundbanks, terrain themes, game objects, physics, controls, weapon designs, minigames, etc.. I wasn't expecting much from the game, and no I don't plan on playing it much in the future, but at least I got to enjoy something new and interesting from the series.

I heard Space Oddity was on the Wii, amirite?

Anyway, I've only seen one (actually, two) comment on this game, which was negative. Just now I read Plasma's positive post (which was really wordy D: ) and I've just been struck even.

But then again, I prefer sticking to the classics (but of course I'm trying to get W4M to work :( ) like Worms and Worms 2.

As a general rule, if you see someone who didn't know you could do an uppercut with the Astro-Punch, more often than not on Tenticlia Mission 2, it's safe to say that their opinions of the game are worthless. I base that on that they never actually put in the effort to even read the instructions on how to use the Astro-Punch.
Which is especially poor because said instructions appear at the bottom of the screen whenever just the (2) button is pressed while using the Punch!

Oh, and as I said in the linked post, it's not a game that's very fun for people who just play for the carnage and mayhem. In other words, a lot of people actually don't like user-friendly weapons!
That, and like Etho said, it's a new take on Worms. A lot of people don't like change, good or bad. But I never respected that opinion, mainly because it's regarding people playing a new Worms game hoping for it to be like Worms Armageddon instead of actually playing Armageddon instead.

this Plasma guy you talk about ... Plasma comes out as the average light gamer,
Yakuza, you know who I am. Don't try to make me look like a 'Joe Nobody'.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you a man who makes guesses in his favor and makes them look like facts!
Yak, you don't know how much experience I have in the Worms series, so don't go pretending that you do.
Oh, and Yak, I really wouldn't advise trying that again. Your opinions start to look really poor when you start making up stuff.

really[/I] poor when you start making up stuff.

I do, please don't make me go quote one of the thousands "How long you've played for" threads.
Also, experience isn't only time invested, for it's other meanings can be judged by what someone says and I have my judgement.
I'm only ready to take into account opinions by people who are on a similar experience level to mine in WA, as that's my 2D game of choice, the one I wish every other Worms game played like, and anything else most likely wouldn't be of my taste hence I am not prepared to take your opinion seriously for the reasons explained in my previous post. If the meaning of this thread is anything close to what I understand it is, having played Space Oddity myself I identify myself much more with the negative comments than I do with Plasma's opinion. Hadn't I played it, I wouldn't listen to neither parties because they don't seem like the style of players I am, for the reasons already mentioned.

If you had ended your sentence there, and meant 'gaming style' rather than 'experience', I would've accepted that. Because I'm the kind of person that doesn't stick to a single genre and doesn't strive to be the best at any game, I'm not afraid to try out something new. I don't mean that as an insult to you or anything though, I'm not saying one style is better than the other. And I can see why you wouldn't like the game so much because there's a lot less skill required using weapons, which I rather like because it allows you to focus more on strategies.
But one thing that does bother me is that I would've thought your style would've been more prevailent in the other consoles, not for the average Wii user. Which, just to remind you, is Team17's target audience.

...
And I hope that's what you meant, anyway. The amount of experience someone has in previous games doesn't make their opinions more valid, let alone that you still don't know how much experience I have in the first place.

Anyway, I did a proper review of it. And by proper, I mean ridiculously long! You can find it here, at RealVG (http://www.realvg.org/forum/showthread.php?p=9172#post9172).

My response to this is, I've never had a reason to become a regular forum member. I've loved so many of the worms games, and have played them with my friends for so many hours, I just kind of trusted Team17 to be solid and on top of things. After buying this game (spending more for it than ANY other worms game I've ever bought mind you) I was severely disappointed. What kind of consumer would I be if I didn't get on here and let team17 know my viewpoints? Then they would never try and fix the problems (which I hope they consider actually doing).

Also consider the fact that so many of us "newcomers" have so many of the exact same gripes.

I don't expect you to go and buy a wii, and buy this game and play it. Just don't think I'm an idiot.

I've had a couple of emails from people who think Dream17 is Team 17, and they're negative but poorly written. One person even said "I've been playing Worms for over twenty years..."

Where does that leave us then? These people are either, hardcore worm fans like they claim, or they aren't. If they are, they have very valid reasons as to why they dislike the game, but if they happen not to be, well, then surely Team17 fails at making a game that appeals to everyone and is easy to pick up and enjoy?
I've heard more negative than positive comments so far, and even if some of them are over the top exageration and rant, the game just doesn't meet the expectations many of us had.

It's fairly safe to assume that anyone who thinks they played Worms in 1988 is either a liar, a moron, or both.

Edit: I've noticed that many people expectations were also moronic.

The instructions on the bottom of the screen for the uppercut show the remote starting in a flat horizontal position, ending in a vertical position with the IR sensor aiming upwards. go ahead and try it this way and see if this will get enough power to the swing to get you across the 1st gap in this mission.

the only way I was able to get it to work was to start the remote in an upside-down vertical position (IR facing down) and quickly swing the remote all the way so it was vertical with the IR facing up. Either way, read around on other message boards. Enough people seem to be having trouble with this that an intelligent developer should have went back and made the instructions a little more specific.

Note: I didnt have a copy of the instruction book to reference since I rented the game on Gamefly so I am not sure if they are more specific in the manual. From what I have heard, they are not.

That's exactly how I do it! And I've never had a problem with not being able to do it either; even since my first go.

Wonder why people, including myself, are having trouble getting it to work then? Maybe it is a sensitivity issue or something. I have never had any trouble with any other games on my Wii. The uppercut will not work, no matter how quick / slow / hard / soft I swing the remote upwards unless the remote starts out completely upside-down. I have used 2 separate remotes.
