so that's a worm with a mechanical left hand that's attached to a backpack with a yellow tube? I have doubts that you'll be confused with plasma. the big tube would give it away :p and as for the gun, is he holding it with his hand or does his hand just morph into the gun?

No, he puts his hand into the gun and closes a hatch. it is then attached. He can open the hatch and then take his hand out. The big orange tube is mostly needed for backup, since the hand itself is individually attached to the body. Read the profile. Also, it isn't completely a backpack, it's more of a protective shoulder armor, that is a bit around the back too, i suppose.

If his hand gets crushed again, the tube will secure the fact that he won't build it up from scratch completely. If it was just independent and floating around like it does, and it get crushed, there would be no god way back.
