Guitar Hero 2,3 &Encore, God of War 1 and 2, Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, (All previous for PS2), Commander Keen series, (PC), [I still have more...] Halo 1,2,3 (XBOX). Wagontrain was a pretty kick game. Then again, a lot of really old games were.

9. Sonic and Mario at the olympic gamesIs that even out yet?

Anyway, funnily enough all my favourite games have been on the PC:

1. Red Orchestra
2. Team Fortress 2
3. UT2004
4. Portal
5. Darwinia
6. Whole Half Life series
7. Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe
8. Air Buccaneers (which has sadly died)
9. Worms Armageddon
10. Defcon

(11. Skyroads :p )

More or less in order. I wish I could have played Defcon more than I have though, it's a brilliant game, but takes such a long time for a good match. Plus it's a bit like monopoly - great fun when you're winning, not quite so when you've started to lose and can't do anything about it.

I think partly the reason the multiplayer games (RO, TF2, UT) have been so much fun is because a lot of my friends also have them, and I've enjoyed many a teamspeak session or LAN party with them :)

Quake III Arena
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
Aliens V Predator 2
Super Smash Brothers Melee
Metroid Prime
Diablo II (LOD expansion)
Guild Wars (eep!)
Traffic Department 2192 (great story and script, if a bit easy on gameplay).
Betrayal at Krondor

The order is a bit out, but the top three are definitly at the top three.

Of course, I could do another list of games that impacted me the most... so why not.

In no order at all:

Wolfenstein 3D
Doom II
Quake III Arena
RTCW
AVP 2
FFVII
Pinball Dreams
Betrayal at Krondor
Crash Bandicoot 2 and 3
Super Mario Land 2 (6 golden coins)

That's my real top ten. Of course, many of those games are crap, but you know...

Mario 64 was a bigger and more impressive innovation for the time of its release. Not saying Mario Galaxy is bad or that it doesn't innovate, though.

The bolded ones are the bad choices. Explanation follows:

1: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
Oh come on. It's a good game, yes, but once you get past the unique physics, you realize it's just Super Mario Sunshine in space, with lame bosses and monotonous enemies. The multiplayer mode is just terrible as well.

2: Super Smash Bros: Melee (Wii)
:)

3: Halo: Combat Evolved (PC) [I still prefer it over the other two]
Halo does things right. But Halo wouldn't even exist if it weren't for other games that came before it. Basically, it's more like a higher quality title than an innovative game.

4: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)
:)

5: Albatross18 (PC)
PangYa is just terrible. Golf is boring to begin with, but a simulation game based on it with Anime characters? :o

6: Pangya (Wii)
See above.

7: TeamFortress2 (PC)
I'm not going to argue; the Orange Box is great. But TF2 definitely wasn't the cream of the crop. If anything, Portal would be the crowd favorite and HL2EP2 would be the critic's choice. TF2 just fills in the missing multiplayer game gap. I'm not saying it's a bad game, I'm just saying that it doesn't belong in a top 10. I mean...how much fun could you possibly have with 2fort?

8: Lemmings (PC)
Great, unique game. My only retaliation is that the sequels would belong more than the original since they add more features and weren't released that far apart from each other.

9: Worms4 (PC)
Worms is innovative. Worms 4 is the game that Worms 3D should've been.

10: Super Mario 64 (N64)
:)

With a group of mates and teamspeak, TF2 is 'simply the best'. However, relying on the internet to throw up a group of players working together on a public server is hilariously futile. Ultimately TF2s only failing is that 'people are stupid'

That's largely true, unfortunately. However, I've found a few particularly good servers, largely run by clans, (although mostly seem to be populated by people who've the server in faves) which do have some quite good teamwork, and good fun. There's a server run by UKCS, if I remember correctly, where someone thought it'd be a laugh to see what would happen if everyone on the team was the same class. Everyone actually tried it, and it was quite spectacular. We lost though :p

Getting a group of friends together on teamspeak isn't hard either though, all it takes is an evening when enough of us are about and someone to suggest "teamspeak & TF2?".

10: Empire Earth + expansion

Yes, Age of Empires II clone. But I just love age-racing and the loadful of stuff in each age. :p

9: Descent

One of the first games that allowed you to move through troth spatial dimensions. Extensive and intrincate. Fun weapons, too.

8: Unreal Tournament

Bot and multiplayer fun. Lots of maps and the very flexible engine makes the game last longer. This can be applied to all Tournaments.

7: Dungeon Keeper

Refreshing take on the strategy genere, both games. Putting you on the evil role and genre-blending gameplay make this game awesome.

6: Worms (2D games)

Means fun and randomness with yourself and with friends in real life and on internet. Pretty customable too, specially Armageddon.

5: Deus Ex

Extense and interesting world combined with uncommon role-playing gameplay. Recently the game has been benefitiated with multiplayer and modding capabilities, adding a plus to this great game.

4: System Shock (both)

More FPS-RPG awesomeness. Creepy and deep. Many games are inspired on those forgotten-by-the-mainstreamers games (specially the first).

3: Serious Sam (First and Second encounter)

Crazy, wacky, neverending, monsterful action, following the old FPS arcades style with chunks of humour in it. The engine is pretty moddable, too.

2: Command & Conquer (as far as Red Alert 2)

Strategy and fast action meet. Personally I prefer Westwood's RTS interface rather than Blizzard's. (This can probably go to Dune 2, too)

1: Unreal

Do not ask. :p It was my first FPS and it is still my favourite game due to its special... feeling... achieved with nice visuals, ambientation, backstory, sounds and music. Plus the flexible engine that powers the longevity of UT games, too.

I still have to determine an opinion on Fallout and Thief games, to see if they can enter the list.

Serious Sam 2 had plot and better humour, but the gameplay was lacking. Short levels, weak weapons (specially the Mango Launcher and the Blueberry Juice gun) and less enemies crippled it.

5. Worms Mayhem
6. Age of Empires 2

well.... it's hard to make them into a list, so I'll just name some good games and why they're good.

The original spyro trilogy
Funny, original, and trustable. these games are just great!:D however, ever since spyro has been passed down to other random companies the new ones are only good for lighting on fire.

Team fortress2

A great game. small flaws like lags and some idiots, but this game has the perfect team work play when on the right server. from what I've seen in the mapmaker, you'll never regret buying this game!

Mario strikers charged

NOW THIS IS MY TYPE OF SOCCER!!! enough said.

Ratchet and clank part 3 and 4

I like part 1 & 2, but 3 and 4 are just some of the best 3rd person shooters. high paced action and all the amazing weapons and upgrades make this the type of game you just think would make itas game of the year!

Worms 4

I'm a worms 3D addict and obviously a worms 4 addict. this game kept me going for at least 3.5 months. I usually get bored of games after the first month.:p

Cortex command

I hope everyone's heard about it. it's never gotten a bad review from people who have properly played it. it's got tons of mods and constant updates. plus there are over 20 versions of it.

Killzone

one of the better 1st person war games out there. it's battlefeild option is amazing and the only thing to really improve is graphics and a more "Free" level select.

Because it's now a considerably old game that, without the historic element, sorta sucks in comparison to new games.
What I would like to know is why it's on the list, when Sonic 2 and 3&K are considerably better games.

I don't know which games i should put, and i surely don't know which is first and last, so i'll just post them in a random mess.

Heart of Darkness. Brilliant game, i have so many memories of the various horrible deaths.. Ahhh.
Team Fortress 2. Bonk, scout rush.
Roller coaster tycoon series. Have always entertained greatly, with the height of customization you can use.
Chicken Invaders series. When i first did play this, it was so hard. But i never stopped! It was simply TOO FUN!
Counter Strike 1.6, Condition Zero, Source I played these nonstop for about 4 years, so i guess they deserve a big place in my list.
Ocarina of Time. Was simply awesome. Still is.
Super smash bros. Series - Brawl. Is also pretty fun... But, where is my damn BRAWL?!

Oh yeah, this can have a place too:

Hammerfall. Little russian indie physics game, not even finished, (v0.21) 60 minute time trial on the campaign, but still beats me as awesome.

There's not 10 games there, and they're in a random mess, but still, it's just to show how AH ROLL.

3. Micro Machines series (never played the 4th part) (MS-DOS+Windows)
4. Worms series (especially Worms 2 & Worms Armageddon) (Windows)
5. Giant series (Traffic Giant, Industry Giant, Industry Giant 2, Transport Giant) (Windows)

Yeah, but Sonic3&K was still a far better game in the same era. Yes, Sonic1 was the one that started it all, but that's about the only bonus it has over S3.

11 May 2008, 11:37
That's my point. It difficult for me to say which I like more.
Sonic 1 had more of an impact on me when I first played it. Just as GTA III did. Whilst Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Vice City, San Andreas, IV are significantly better games, they didn't have the same impact as the first installments and they didn't introduce me to the series (GTA 1&2 aside). They were an entirely new experience something that all the sequels were simply adding to.

I talked with SuperBlob about this recently. He thinks Sonic1 was the best, then Sonic2 then Sonic3&K. Apparently the music became crappy and repetitive (And they changed the theme tune o noez), the level design **** poor, and Sonic's sprite was ruined.

I am with you though, Sonic3&K was the best to me.

EDIT: I did not realize that word would be filtered. Huh.
