View Full Version : Robowurmz's Weekly Wednesday Rant

Hello folks! Every Wednesday, you'll be treated to a new rant from me about a large political or otherwise earth-shaking issue.

This week;

THE LACK OF COMMON SENSE IN THIS WORLD

Ahem. I was over at my cousin's house, watching him play Call of Duty 4 on his 360. He starts this mission where he's in a helicopter as the gunner, and he is using an Infrared scope. His sergeant is on the radio to him.
He says;

"Soldiers who are carrying flashing IR strobes are FRIENDLIES. Do not shoot them. I repeat, soldiers who are carrying flashing IR strobes are FRIENDLIES. Do not engage any of them!"

What does my cousin do? He blows them up. "MISSION FAILED; FRIENDLIES LOST." and he's looking at the TV like it's just said that the moon is made of purple elephants. He starts the mission again. The sergeant repeats his message. He blows the flashing soldiers up again. He does this for about half an hour. Then I leap from my seat, screaming;

"LOOK! LISTEN TO WHAT THE SERGEANT IS SAYING!!!"

And he's like, "well, it never told me THAT before.".

Seriously everyone, what is happening to common sense in this world? Only two days ago I saw a bus-driver try to do a U-turn down a narrow one-way street! The bus was almost as long as the street itself! And this man PASSED his BUS-DRIVING test? Surely they should have tried him in a spatial-awareness test first, or at least an IQ test with a passmark over 5.

My cousin is 17, by the way. He should know better by now.

The government is also a great example;

"Hey, those people are starving. Let's give them some money!"
"Okay."
"Hey look, they owe us a debt that they'll never pay off in around 500 years!"
"Oh yeah! Let's take our cash back, but with interest!"
"And now their debt is bigger than it was before! Hooray!"
"Lets add even MORE interest to the debt they already have every year!"
"Good idea!"

See what I mean?

This concludes this week's rant. Future rants will be longer and louder.

Watch any reality show on MTV, and you'll really get a gist of how some people really do lack common sense in every way...

I think it's common sense to add interest into loaned money, but I don't know, it might be a personal thing.

Don't worry, many people are idiots. Like when I play football (ENGLISH), and my team puts me in goal even though I'm absolutely crap at football and are suprised that the other team keeps scoring goals.

Whats also stupid is that they think I care.

Anyway, killing people who are on you own team in games is fun. It means that you get more kills for your money.

Just because your teammates put you in the goalie position doesn't mean you have the right to KILL them! :eek:

It's not that big of a deal, you press "retry", and they are as healthy as a rose again.

I think it's common sense to add interest into loaned money, but I don't know, it might be a personal thing.

Usually yes, but if your loan is too a third world country so that they can afford basic utilities, improved farming techniques or what have you (which is money they're never going to turn down, despite the likelihood they'll never be able to repay it, as they need it pretty badly) to ask for interest back is pretty much exploitation. At the very least the goverment should cut these countries a bit more slack, but that's a whole other issue.

I agree it's not very ethical, but it's still common sense because they're going to charge that interest one way or another, which is the whole point of loaning money.

I suppose the logic is that they won't screw up with the ball, but they forget they'll also screw up up being goalies. (besides who wants to get rammed by high-speed balls?)

What's even stupider is that you think they care about how bad a goalie you are. They just wanna have the fun themselves.

Um, I bet they do care, providing they want to win the match.

I rather thought it was supposed to be aid, rather than a profitable exercise, although I'm not sure if the goverment agrees.

The worst player always gets stuck on goalie duty. I suppose the logic is that they won't screw up with the ball, but they forget they'll also screw up up being goalies. (besides who wants to get rammed by high-speed balls?)

And yet who do they blame when the goalie lets in an easy shot?

As Plasma said, they just don't want to be stuck there themselves, whereas they people who're rubbish are the ones who mind least.
Not that I can claim to be particularly innocent on this issue, but at least I took my turn in goal.
