I've noticed a lot of tourneys have been popping up in various forums recently so I thought I'd host one of my own for a very special scheme I've always been fond of: mornington girder. The scheme doesn't get played on wormnet much because it can get quite complex, with all the various little strategies one can employ for most points, and also it's not the traditional "shoot everyone else" scheme that we all know and love.

So what a better way to give this scheme more exposure than to host a tourney for it? It doesn't matter if you haven't played it before since there are no 'rules' as such - but it might help to know how to get the most points if you want to win :P

Anyway, more details later, but first, who's interested? Once we have a fair few people involved we'll organise a time for a few games and i'll set up some sort of leaderboard or knockout table or however it'll work.

Nice!
I'm in too.

Although, I think I either need to adjust my mouse's refresh rate or get a new mouse pad, because last time I played with some pros, I barely could match because my mouse movements were so slow.
And I don't want to buy a €50.- laser mouse just for one tourney.

It certainly looks a little daunting, but I think we'll pick it up soon enough.

Yes, a custom scheme.

If you want to play it on WWP, you'd need an external editor though, as you can't set indestructible terrain in the in-game options.
Does the original have indy terrain, or did I play a variation of Mornington?

I'm not getting involved in this. Mornington Girder always seems to cause arguments. Especially if people will insist on playing sodding Fairfax.

count me in if we're not too full already, i haven't played worms in a while

edit: wait, i thought this was a different scheme, not mornington girder - honestly i'm not the biggest fan of that scheme because people tend to be such *****s about it, but whatever

I've never even heard of this before but a Girder-oriented mode that's not a 'traditional "shoot everyone else" scheme' sounds pretty amusing, do any regular players of this scheme have any good replays or even just information about it?

I would sign up to this if I could remember what mornington girder WAS...

You don't have to know! Part of the purpose of this tourney is to make it more popular. So sign up anyway. It doesn't matter if you've never even heard of it before, this tourney is open to all

I'll give it a shot if somebody shows me a replay or something.

I remember playing this a few times but never enjoyed it much, some of the rules seem purposely convulted to screw me up.

Still, feel free to put me in there if there's room.

I'd like to joinin, but I'm afraid I've played far to much of Megad00d's W2 variation 'Balham girder' (standard artillery mode) to get used to the destructable landscape and fuse time limitations in standard Morninton.

If we were to play Fairfax, or simply allow anticlockwise rotation up untill girder resize (A personal favorite of mine) I might be able to adapt.

Maybe 3 tourneys could be started then;
MORNINGTON GIRDER TOURNEYS
Classic
FairFax
Balham Girder!

Yeah, I'll join up, and if there WERE 3 tourneys, I'd go for classic.

bah, the new york variant is best

Yeah, but it's so similar to Balham as to make no odds. It's only noticably different if someone plays the Bishopsgate Opening, and nobody uses that since the Sicilian Rebuttal tactic was developed.

This is why I don't play Mornington any more. People argue about the smallest things.

not honestly sure what this scheme is, but I've been looking for a reason to pick up a copy of W:A again, so I'll have to look more into the scheme. I await any replays or what-not that may be posted so that I can learn more.

always interested in a good game of worms :)

the one thing i like about the new york variant is that it lets you roll out brooklyn or queens at the beginning or any other point in the game (hence the name, obviously)

Has anyone played the adapted realtime vauxhall variant version for worms blast? (AdaReTVaVaVerWoB for short)

Obviously, organizing a tourney would be troublesome as W:B complaetely lacks an online mode.

If we wanted to play a realtime vauxhall variant we'd be better of playing something like the reverse frindsbury roundhouse VaVaVer (liero Extreme version). Or course we'd have to hunt down the Classic liero fairfax version's skins and weapon set, as the standard liero VaVer versions are hopless.

I heard someone was developing a solitare-style single-player VaVer for Worms breakout 2, but I doubt that idea ever got off the ground.
