CORTEX COMMAND!

www.datarealms.com

So. Liero is pretty fun right? Well, imagine Liero, with custom-made bases, gold mining, obnoxious ships and rockets, brains in jars, DISMEMBERMENT, clones and robots, skeletons with GUNS, and a large database of mods and maps available on the website.

The premise is this - you have a brain that controls everything. All of your clones, robots, skeletons, and ships. You have to destroy your opponent's brain.

The customizable bases is something that shines here. The sheer amount of options is kind of fun, and building an obnoxiously large complex is rewarding.

The game is in it's pre-Beta stages, so a lot of bugs are still in and there's no Campaign, and also you can't win against the computer. DataRealms is submitting it to
IGF, a game making competition.

There are some pretty amazing mods out for it, and I reccomend you check out the forums on their website.

This is one of the funniest games you will ever play. Whether it's crashing a rocket into the enemy's base, or losing both your legs and flying around at a zillion miles per hour before crashing into an inanimate object, I pretty much guarantee a chuckle

Everyone loves youtube videos http://youtube.com/watch?v=LsofDK_TC9w&mode=related&search=Cortex%20Command%20Mods

too realistic and not goofy enough, judging by the videos, to be as great as worms.

If you want realtime worms, google liero.

I assume you didn't even read the first post?

I assume you didn't even read the first post?I think the point is that the game you've linked is nothing even remotely related to worms. it's kind of like a Halo fanboy got his hands on Liero and wanted to make it "cool". the result looks little different than Liero, just lacking in the charm.

granted, I've not played the game, just goign off of the videos.

Fair enough, if the marketing is flawed, just ignore the title then.

Oh, that's pretty arrogant thing to say...

granted, I've not played the game, just goign off of the videos.

But I guess here is the explanation.

I assumed it would be a waste of time.

Looks like we both assumed right.

I've played both Liero and Cortex Comand. Liero is realtime worms, CC is nothing like worms at all.

Cortex Command is just like Soldat, only with some tactical elements, base/bunker building and some background story.

Another good thing: The characters and enemies don't move insanely fast as in Soldat, so this game could actually be (reasonably) playable against human opponents.

Nice video:) I'm a fan of CC and plan on buying it right away, when it comes out in the full version. it does have some things that remind me of worms. CC is all about strategy and it's goofy when you expect to shoot an engine of a drop ship and expect it to land on the enemy when it twirls around and lands flat on your face:)

Neither Liero or Cortex Comand are anything like worms, in my opinion!
Although I'm also just basing those opinions on videos...

CC is a bit rubbish, really. Ho hum.

CC has nothing in common with Worms.

Like... at all.

And yeah, other people have said this already, but it really doesn't.

Well, there's a shotgun in both games, so it does have something in common.

the closest thing to realtime worms would probably be "worms! (http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/2247)," a game by mordi

and they both have lots of strategy and planing.:) I've not played cortex command, but last I remember of Liero was that you kinda randomly swing around and shoot at your opponent as much as you possibly can. not really any sort of strategy involved unless you're an avid C&C player.

I play Cortex a lot. It's extremely flexible to mod, just two days ago I made a Mario Mushroom grenade.

It does have its hilarious moments, and it is pixel physics...

However, it is not at all like worms. Try it, and see what you think.

I hated liero, it's nothing like CC... or worms. CC contains lots of war and construction type strategy, such as building a brain sell in the right place, choosing were to put or order the troops, and how to order, shoot and flank your way to survival.:)

I remember seeing that, but last time I saw it people complained about errors.:(

yes, I saw it just yesterday and it sounded like it worked.:)

Are you good with people mods? if so then would you know of any chance of making a mario mod, or better, a worms mod?:D

Well, I've made a couple of actors before, one of myself and the "Orange Clone" (which is also on the forums, if you search for it.)

Mario doesn't sound too hard...I've got some spritesheets here.
