As the title goes.

yes, the other "Hows this loading screen" thing is related to this.

yes, i'm joining the crappy JACM07.

yes, ... bla bla bla...

ok, back on topic: I NEED HELP.

Here are the details of the competition (told to us):

Use The Tab 3.0 Pro.
Optional: Use Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
Movie must be >30sec
Anyone who uses any other program will be disqualified
Write a synopsis of the story
Make a rough storyboard (image)

The theme: My Pet Alien.

Main problems:

-HOW DOES AN ALIEN LOOK LIKE?!
-HOW DO I MAKE AN ALIEN?!
-HOW ON EARTH DO I MAKE AN ALIEN "MOVE"?!
-Can I get help on how to do it?

Pweez?

Oh come on. Don't you have an imagination?
You can seriously make anything you want for an alien.

Have you seen the aliens in the 2 impossible quizzes? They could give you some ideas(not by talking to them).

Ok, if your main problems are in the creativity departement, DO NOT do animation, It's about as creative as it gets...

on the move part:

1. draw the alien
2. draw all the body parts seperately (like upper left arm , lower left arm, upper right arm, lower right arm, etc etc...)
3. scan 'em in
4. edit them in photoshop/illustrator
5. import them into "tab 3.0"
6. find a way to set pivots and parents, this should make animating a slice of pie (READ THE FREAKING MANUAL)
7. start animating

Oh by the way,
there's a place you can go, a magical place where dreams come true, heroes are born, and villans are defeated. A place full of tons of information a place inside a web of a million computers. A place so mind boggling huge it makes you want to poop your pants. A place where any one can find all of his hearts desires, a place where people can find eachother a place that knows all about you, even if you know nothing about the place itself. Everyone has been there, many stayed, only a few went and did not return. This place is known to us mere mortals as: google.com

seriously, this isn't a helpdesk. this is sparta.the team17 forum

Aliens are very simple to draw.
First, start with a shape. And then add eyes. legs, hair or whatever to that if you can't be bothered.

Or, you can just go nuts and not try drawing anything.

...! Oh yeah! thanks robowurmz!

Behind the scenes: Guys! I have a new idea! Lets make our alien invisible! That'll save all the time we need!

I've kept quiet in this thread before but this needs to be said:

How are you possibly having trouble drawing an alien? Seriously?

The good things about aliens is that they can look like anything.

Why not draw a circular blob with eyes? Have it move by just gliding around. If it floats, you'll have no problem animating it.

Well done!

Your animation was quite good.;)

Mikhail's drawing of Brad (main character, at the ending) is different from mine (at the starting) because he used a tablet and I use a crappy non-ergonomics Dell mouse.

His drawing looks better because his is based on Joel (http://philby4000.deviantart.com/art/Joel-again-40804542) by Philby..

Have you ever animated before?

yauhui
27 Apr 2008, 06:01
That was my first animation ever made, and worst of all, the competition organizers didn't allow the use of Flash. or even Photoshop.

After the competition, I started becoming interested in the animation stuff so I bought a Flash MX for a VERY, VERY cheap price. And that brought me here.

If that's the first one, that's VERY good for a first one. (If you look at my first one)

Flash is really the best thing for it, too bad you couldn't use it.. Also, which version of Flash MX is it? Those are quite old.

I would tell people to get Flash CS3 though. It works pretty good after all the versions i've tried.

I like CS3, but I'm more used to Flash 8 Pro. Anyway, can't be bothered shelling out lots of money for CS3 yet, Animation isn't my priority.

Erm. I think its Version 6 or something.

I thought there's only one type of Flash MX, one type of Flash MX2004, and one type of Flash 8.

p.s. Isn't Flash 8 and Flash CS3 same?

.JeT

Nope. Flash 8, (CS2) and Flash 9 (CS3)

As far as i can recall.

The animations weren't bad, although I think someone failed their exam.

LOL.

If you noticed, every exam is the same... And they (the members in the Sparklets group) are all above 16.

I'm just glad my group got 1st runner up, although I can't believe how the winner got champion. I mean.. WTF?
