I'm running armageddon on xp, and a couple days ago I reinstalled it and got the latest patch. I got about halfway through the missions on single player mode, but then I kept getting messages like "Training file not found" when I was going to do the training missions, and "Mission file not found" when I tried to continue the missions. So I decided to jettison all my progress and reinstall the game. However, I found that when I reinstalled the game, most of the game files were missing (for example, the anthems, the missions, the training missions, and tons of other stuff was misplaced). I tried to copy the files into what I thought were the right places from the cd directly into the program files, and now it works, but only if the cd is in the drive. Before, when I first installed it, I could play when the cd was taken out (my cd drive is freaking loud), and all the game files were in the right place. What is going on here?

Do you have a legal copy of the game?

I'm not sure if making a backup copy of the game for personal use is legal, but that's what I do with most of my games. Luckily I did, because when my cousins came over, they ended up smashing my worms armageddon cd. Since then (about a year) that backup cd has been working fine. I have really no idea what the problem is.

Well... was your "original" CD a legit copy? :)

All known legal versions of the game that come on a CD require the CD to be inserted during the game.

Oh, I get it. The reason I could take the CD out of the drive and play before was because I was playing things that didn't require data from the CD drive. But when I was playing the missions/training, the files were not found. I might have even screwed up some of the files by trying to copy the CD files onto the hard drive. I'll have to play with the CD in the drive, but if I want to reinstall the game, what files will I have to keep in order to save my progress?

If it's just missions, User\Teams\WG.WGT. If you have any custom maps, fanfares, speech banks, flags, etc. you should save the entire User folder.

Also check out the WormsBackup (http://worms2d.info/WormsBackup) program by evilworm2.
